ReptationHello, I just installed Ubuntu Studio 12.04 today. Most stuff (Jack, Hydrogen) is working well, but Pure Data doesn't seem to. I checked around and there seems to be an issue. Does compiling from source help? Is there any alternative?02:31
ReptationNevermind, forgot about this link I found earlier http://www.mail-archive.com/pd-list@iem.at/msg51542.html02:54
contrapunctusHey folks, I finally got Ubuntu Studio to install, seems like there was some problem with unetbootin, I installed a newer version of it and done :D09:46
contrapunctusHowever...I'm missing certain programs (Seq24, for one)...could someone please tell me if it'd be safe to add Universe or Multiverse repos, or would that break Ubuntu Studio? O_o09:46
ailo-adriftcontrapunctus: You can safely add any of the official Ubuntu repos09:47
ailo-adriftUbuntu Studio is Ubuntu, only with a different configuration.09:48
contrapunctus^_^09:48
contrapunctusailo-adrift = ailo-w?09:48
ailo-adriftYea09:48
ailo-adriftI'm not at home at the moment09:49
contrapunctusWell, thanks again, ailo :D09:49
contrapunctusHey folks...for some reason my M-Audio Fast Track Pro interface isn't working with JACK. =\ Could someone please help? o.o12:10
contrapunctusHey folks...for some reason my M-Audio Fast Track Pro interface isn't working with JACK. Could someone please help...?12:54

smartboyhwHi drupin13:05
drupinany tricks13:05
smartboyhwNo why?13:05
drupini am reading many docs13:05
drupinfor building apps13:06
smartboyhwdrupin, no tips for that, ask len-dt:P13:06
* smartboyhw does testing more:P13:06
drupinokies13:06
ailo-adriftdrupin: Read README, INSTALL or any that sort of file, in the source folder. Make sure to uninstall the program you are about to build (if you have it uninstalled)13:31
ailo-adriftOn Debian based system there's an easy way to get the build dependencies for any application that exists in the repo (given it has source)13:31
ailo-adriftsudo apt-get build-dep <yourapp>13:31
ailo-adrift(if you have it installed)*13:35

contrapunctusHi scriptwarlock O_o14:35
smartboyhwailo_: Please help contrapunctus :P14:35
contrapunctusOlololo.14:36
scriptwarlockany ideas how to change the sampling rate of jack to 41khz14:36
scriptwarlockby the way im using ubuntu studio 12.10 beta114:37
contrapunctusDoesn't QJackCtl -> Setup -> Samplerate work?14:37
scriptwarlockcontrapunctus, no luck14:37
contrapunctusOdd. jackd -r41000 ?14:38
scriptwarlockcontrapunctus, no changes at all it starts at excatly 48000 cant change14:40
contrapunctusOuch. No idea then...but I'm hardly the jack expert.14:40
scriptwarlockany jack masters?14:43
holsteinscriptwarlock: there are folks with that hardwrae in #opensourcemusicians14:46
holsteini heard it "just worked"14:46
holsteini would do a few typical troubleshooting steps14:46
scriptwarlockholstein, i good at this sample but my problem is some of my projects are 41000 but anyway i'll check that room thanks14:46
holsteinscriptwarlock: are you forcing 16bit?14:47
scriptwarlockholstein, actually my recorded project from presonus was all 41000 and i'm using the ustudio 12.10 beta1 though14:48
holsteinscriptwarlock: 44.1 i assume?14:48
scriptwarlockholstein, ah yes14:49
holsteini would just convert to what you need14:49
holstein44.1 is a good goal since that CD quality14:49
holsteini wouldnt have any issues recording at 16/44.114:49
scriptwarlockholstein, you mean from 41000 to 48000?14:49
holsteinthough, most studios do 24/96 or higher14:50
holsteinscriptwarlock: from whatever you got to whatever you need14:50
holsteinscriptwarlock: i think the issue is the device14:50
holsteinyou can try the internal sound card though14:50
scriptwarlockholstein, really? no problem at all? i mean i can happily use the 48000 as long as it has no effects to the material14:51
scriptwarlockno side effects*14:51
holsteinscriptwarlock: it will "effect" it by changing it from one to the other14:51
holsteinscriptwarlock: can you hear the difference?14:51
holsteini doubt i can.. and anyone who says they can, i would argue with14:51
scriptwarlockholstein, well i was just hesitant because last week i tried to play the 41khz from 48000 and it sounded like a slow motion14:52
holsteinscriptwarlock: you wont be able to "play" it.. you'll need to convert them.. upscale.. dither.. whatever you want to call it14:53
scriptwarlockholstein, so upsmapling the files from 41khz 24bit to 48khz14:54
holsteinscriptwarlock: sure.. its not that much different.. and you can use the original professional audio tool to make sure it sounds right14:55
holsteinyou could also just use the internal sound card, since it seems you are just mixing14:55
scriptwarlockholstein, i'll try this to ardour14:56
holsteinscriptwarlock: dont trust me, or anyone else for that matter.. im just saying, i wouldnt care to just change the samples to something the sound card can use14:57
holsteinif it works for you, you'll know.. and you can get work done.. and do 48000 from now on14:58
scriptwarlockholstein, yeah i know up or downsampling obviously has an effect14:58
holsteinscriptwarlock: well, it'll have *some* effect.. but i just argue not enough to worry about14:58
holsteinno effect that is humanly audible14:58
