atari314Hello, does anyone know if Lubuntu have Zeitgeist?04:16
Unit193apt-cache show zeitgeist zeitgeist-core|grep Task  says no, but you can either purge it if it were to have it, or install it if you wantedx it.04:19
atari314Unit193, tyvm for the answer!04:19
AscavasaionI installed the Samsung Unified driver and my printer/scanner combo worked perfectly.  Bot the printing and the scanning.  I shut down and started the machine a day or so later and the printer part still works but the scanner dos not.  lsusb shows that the printer/scanner is there.04:24
kanliotAscavasaion, you might ask on the forum, lots of hardware gurus there04:48
Ascavasaionkanliot: Aaaah, okay.04:49
Ascavasaionkanliot: editing /etc/sane.d/xerox_mfp.conf and /lib/udev/rules.d/40-libsane.rules as directed at http://askubuntu.com/questions/88700/how-do-i-get-a-samsung-scx3200-multifunction-printer-scanner-working gotthe scanner working perfectly.05:38
bzbhow do i setup system to invoke fsck after a reboot06:23
Ascavasaionbzb: Does it not run automatically every nth time you reboot anyway?  I know Ubuntu does.06:34
Ascavasaionwhat is the Samba port I need to open to allow access to a printer on my Linux machine from another remote Linux machine?  Because when I browse the network from the remote computer nothing shows up.  even when I do a smb://IPNo/09:14
kanliotlinux to linux you shoulnt need samba, but CUPS.  also Ascavasaion you can ask that question in #ubuntu09:44
Ascavasaionkanliot: I figured it out... had to open port 631 :)09:45
AscavasaionCUPS it was.09:45
kanliotyou might check on the wiki see if that info is there or not09:46
kanliotjust so someone can document it09:46

TheLordOfTimehow do i set up remote desktop access for an Lubuntu system?16:01
holsteinTheLordOfTime: lots of folk use something like teamviewer... vino and vinagre work great16:04
TheLordOfTimeholstein:  i'd rather not use teamviewer, it doesnt like working16:04
TheLordOfTimeholstein:  i'll need help with the configuration...16:04
TheLordOfTimefollowed this: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/RemoteDesktop16:04
TheLordOfTimebut i cant connect (VNC server rejecting connections?)16:04
TheLordOfTimebut atm i've got a more pressing apt issue to fix, so...16:05
TheLordOfTime*disappears to the Ubuntu MOTU channel)16:05
holsteinTheLordOfTime: i would just install vino and run "vino-preferences"16:06
holsteinTheLordOfTime: if local, i would disable the firewall at least temporarily16:06
TheLordOfTimeholstein:  on which system?>16:16
TheLordOfTimethe one running vino?16:16
TheLordOfTimebecause there's no firewall blocks on that one16:16
holsteinTheLordOfTime: i typicall just disable if im local to be sure16:18
holsteini have used vino plenty16:18
holsteintypically "just works"16:18
TheLordOfTimecan't disable on this system16:18
TheLordOfTimethis system *must* have a firewall :p16:19
holsteinTheLordOfTime: sure.. just keep in mind a firewall can block vnc16:21
TheLordOfTimenot when outbound and RELATED are accepted16:22
TheLordOfTimeas well as ESTABLISHED :P16:22
holsteinTheLordOfTime: most folks use teamviewer for this reason i think.. anyways, vino always "just works" for me with any buntu16:22
TheLordOfTimei set up my rules pretty liberally for stuff initiated by this system ;P16:22
