UnderControlHiya sagaci, just wondering does the name Michael Findly from GNOME en_AU ring any bells with you?08:38
jeaUnderControl: Are you having issues with translations?10:49
UnderControljea, no. Michael just asked me if I know Joel.10:58
jeaUnderControl: right10:59
sagacinot until now, new name to me11:14
sagaciusername?11:14
sagacithat community team marathon is broadcasting11:16
jeawhat is that?11:17
UnderControlsagaci k3lt01 is his username I believe.11:18
UnderControlSagaci it looks pretty good.11:18
sagacijea: 24hr google hangout11:19
jeawow. lucky google has a lot of bandwith11:19
jeahi head_victim 11:24
UnderControlSagaci, Michael said last time he knew you two were in the same town.11:25
head_victimEvening, weirdest thing ever on my pc. I went to use it and everytime I clicked a program it disappeared. I was left without the dash as well. Rebooting meant it couldn't find the system hdd either.11:26
head_victimSo here I was thinking the HDD failed.11:26
jeathat sounds quite odd11:27
head_victimTried memtest to make sure and that checked out fine, so went to boot off a thumb drive and that failed hard as well. Kernel panics throwing it back to command line11:27
head_victimSo I start unplugging things to putt the innards out of the box and try one last time and it works. For whatever reason, the external hdd has caused some sort of conflict and won't allow the MB to recognise the existence of the internal hhd when it's connected.11:28
UnderControlWow, that's really odd.11:29
head_victimI always go for memory problems whenever it seems odd, in this occasion, that wasn't the fault.11:29
jeais it using esata, or usb?11:29
head_victimSo I'm not sure if I plug in the hdd to see if it works or not (it's a USB 1tb)11:29
head_victimThe data is replaceable (it's my local Ubuntu repository)11:30
jeai wonder if resetting the bios would help11:30
sagaciUnderControl: yeah, not sure11:30
UnderControlOkies.11:31
head_victimOk, plugging in the hdd, wish me luck.11:40
head_victimWell, must be ok, it's reading and writing data ok for now11:42
jeai have had issues with the bios and external hdds, but not for a while11:43
head_victimjea: I'll keep that in mind, I have never really played with anything on the MB since I bought it so perhaps there's something awry.11:44
head_victimDisappointing that aarnet is only giving me 1.5MB these days :/11:45
jeait could be. i am going to reinstall windows on a 2 month old computer. i think the hdd may be dying (hdd was only old part)11:45
head_victimI had kinda psyched myself up for a ssd replacement11:46
jeaaarnet has been alright for me, but i haven't downloaded too much recently11:46
jeayeah, i am going to buy a ssd now11:46
head_victimWhen the 128's got down to 100 that's when I was interested11:46
head_victim128 is just right for a /11:46
jeahave a look at samsung or ocz11:46
head_victimFortunately, I'd only recently backed up to U1 all the important things.11:46
head_victimI'd been meaning to do it for a LONG time but never got there.11:47
jeathere is a new samsung coming out in the next couple of weeks that has good reviews11:47
jeacould be a bit more expensive, but it is the fastest available11:47
head_victimThe PCIe ones are meant to be insane11:47
jeaif they are pcie 3 they would be very fast11:49
head_victimI keep trying to get to gnome-contacts to translate but it keeps timing out :/ Perhaps tomorrow14:12
sagaciyep14:12
sagaciquantal's looking good14:12
head_victimStill a bunch to translate in there but the main ones are complete (except gnome--contacts)14:13
sagaciah, I meant in general, not translation-specific14:15
head_victimAh, I've actually not had a play with it yet14:15
head_victimMuch different from .04?14:16
sagacinot particularly, obviously just more refined14:47
head_victimDebating if I should stick to LTS's like last time or just keep rolling14:50
sagaciI haven't seen anything incredible but I'd rather be on the latest release anyhow14:53
sagacimouse trackpad on my hp works properly by default now14:53
