[15:48] * wrst feels ignored by xTEMPLARx [15:49] lol [15:49] donut be lonely, Senor WRST [15:49] * xTEMPLARx is doing pretty well thus far, thank you. [15:49] ha ha xTEMPLARx [15:49] hopefully you and yours are well, as well [15:49] :D [15:50] oh yeah looking forward to baseball this afternoon [15:50] who's playin? [15:56] anyone here android hax0rs? [16:00] xTEMPLARx: the braves... you must not be a baseball fan? its the most wonderful time of the year [16:01] as usual i am not cool/smart enough to answer Juzzy's question :) [16:01] wrst I know that feel [16:02] ha ha xTEMPLARx i always have that feeling [16:07] well i've never touched a droid until a couple of days ago [16:08] ive rooted it and finially today got ssh+root working [16:08] so the problem is: theres a bug in activesync where if you sync a calander event, then move it to aother cal, it doesnt update properly and forever breaks the sync on the droid [16:09] so I rooted it, located the sqlite db: /data/data/com.android.providers.calendar/databases/calendar.db [16:09] found the offending event and deleted the entry [16:10] however it's still broken, I'm not sure if it's cached or what [16:10] still trying to sync this bad id :( [16:11] ive killed calendar and the 3rd party sync processes [16:11] and rebooted it [16:11] nada :( [16:11] the ppl in #android are completly useless heh [16:27] surely not more useless than xTEMPLARx or me? [16:32] :D [16:32] so I grabbed the 12.10 beta2 64-bit iso yesterday [16:33] took it home [16:35] removed my botched 12.04 upgrade installation and let it do a clean 12.10 beta2 install [16:35] logged into unity [16:35] loaded up the software manager [16:35] asked it kindly to install gnome-shell, which is 3.6 [16:35] wont' work [16:35] doesn't work [16:35] broken [16:36] booooo [16:36] regular gnome works, but no window manager [16:36] argh [16:36] gonna have to actually work with it [16:36] heaven forbid beta software not do what its supposed to [17:16] well xTEMPLARx that's what you get for trying to use gnome with ubuntu [17:16] as sad as that is [17:17] gnome remix was a total disaster for me when i tried the live cd [17:52] no doubt [17:52] and I tell you what [17:53] I understand the need for income, but the unity dash board search giving you amazon results is ridiculous [17:53] I did a search for synaptic once I logged in [17:53] not ONE of the 2 pages of results that came back had anything to do with the synaptic package manager [17:53] yeah that's why i don't run ubuntu on the desktop, unity stinks, they ruin gnome, and stupid stuff [17:53] and THAT is ridiculous [17:54] i think ubuntu desktop is getting close to a cluttered up ridiculous mess [17:55] I've been mostly fine with it thus far [17:55] i just don't like unity [17:55] but this amazon thing is entirely too intrusive and ridiculous [17:55] making Unity more of a joke as a default UI [17:55] i think it looks ok but it still looks incomplete for example if the top bar is transparent the menus aren't lots of little things like that [17:56] and then to apparently cripple gnome's proper installation ... I'm hoping that's just a beta mistake [17:56] xTEMPLARx: well they won't include nautilus 3.6 period [17:56] sad thing is, I hear a lot of people griping about gnome shell but talking about features that are only part of Unity [17:56] like the whole full-screen application paradigm [17:56] i don't really won't features [17:56] using separate workspaces for each application [17:57] i just want something that opens progrems switches windows and stays out of the way [17:57] that's not gnome shell [17:57] that's unity [17:57] i actually use a different desktop for apps on gnome shell [17:58] but at least you can choose to do so [17:59] I work with multiple windows on the same workspace just like always [17:59] yes i generally do that unless i'm using dual montiors then i keep on monitor "locked" and can scroll throught he others in gnome-shell that is pretty nice [18:00] sounds like it :D [18:02] but unity is just a little cluttered up mess for me it tries to do everything [18:02] and that just isn't for me if it is for people that s good too i wish them success [18:08] seriously [18:08] I completely love my current gnome-shell functionality here [18:08] there's not a single complaint I can think of [18:09] window switching is really the only complaint i would have its a little unhandy [18:09] but i'm sure there's an extension for that [18:09] how so? [18:09] alt-tab doesn't work? [18:09] also, I use avant-window-manager for my icon bar on the left, so I can switch easily that way as well [18:10] yeah i do like haveing that i just use the activities hot corner or the super key [18:11] but there are extensions but that's really my only complaint and that isn't much of one [18:15] i gotchya [18:15] the only reason I wanted to change this system was to go to a 64-bit rather than 32-bit PAE system [18:16] but I think I'm gonna leave it alone [18:18] i get the itchy to fresh install much quicker than you :) [18:19] or i did now with arch not so much [18:29] I always get that itch when something new/unique/cool-to-me is coming out [18:29] =] [18:34] xTEMPLARx: you really should run arch it would just come to you :) [19:15] wrst: I may have to give it a try at home [19:15] not sure if I have the patience for it, though... lol [19:16] xTEMPLARx: I absolutely love it [19:16] once you get it set up its really no issue [19:31] true this [19:35] and i have package kit installed so you can do the whole graphical thing if you want to [19:36] package kit? [19:37] yes i think fedora uses it [19:38] yeah its what fedora does, of coruse that isn't default but it works really smoothe in arch, checks for updates etc [19:38] but not from the AUR [19:39] I see I see [19:39] AUR is sorta like PPA's [20:03] But safer, no? [20:04] well I may come screaming/crying when it breaks my puter. :D [20:04] and by breaks, I mean by allows me to put it into a non-fully-operational state [20:04] Unit193: not safer [20:04] xTEMPLARx: before you update you need to check the arch linux site [20:05] what? ask questions first and update later? [20:05] that seems backwards [20:05] i update daily but when there is a big update of something like graphics drivers, xorg, kernel, system essential type things i check the website [20:05] xTEMPLARx: thats the "arch way" you are in control of your system so if you junk it, well its all your fault :) [20:06] :D [20:06] mhm [20:06] but i have found it to be much more stable than running debian testing because its meant to be a rolling release [20:11] We're looking for a linux admin with perl exp if anyone knows anyone looking :D [20:11] in franklin [20:12] franklin is way over there in middle tn [20:12] amirite? [20:12] yes. [20:12] xTEMPLARx: yes [20:12] kk [20:12] south of nashville a few miles off I-65 [20:12] hmm a few mile south of nashville just off of I-65 [20:12] xTEMPLARx: you wanting to move to franklin? [20:13] not if I don't have to :\ [20:13] it's good pay [20:13] ;/ [20:50] there's also that little thing about not being any good at perl at the moment [20:50] I tend to learn things as I need to, and I've had no need to perl it up. :( [20:56] gonna be on vaca this week, so I'm shuttin' quassel down :D [20:56] better hurry [20:56] have a good weekend, all [20:56] it's a dry market [20:56] can make some good bank right now [20:56] talkin about learning perl? [20:56] hrm [20:57] linux in general [20:57] I loves me some linux in general [20:57] but I'm not certified in much of anything [20:57] certs? [20:57] * xTEMPLARx points to his last statement. [20:57] whats that? :) [20:57] haha [20:59] there's no certs for being awesome [20:59] ;0 [21:02] xTEMPLARx: enjoy the vacation! [21:03] Juzzy: there oughta be! [21:03] wrst, thank you sir. I will try to. [21:03] and the point is to keep quasselcore running all the time xTEMPLARx so you don't miss anything :P [21:03] but I never scroll back [21:04] besides, the last two pages if I'm not here are typically netsplit messages [21:04] :P [21:04] fine do it your way :) [21:04] have a great week xTEMPLARx! [21:04] later :D [21:04] later [23:45] wrst, I'd use quassel if I could use xchat as a client [23:46] wrst u here [23:47] anyone here [23:47] linuxman410: yep [23:47] wrst what u doing [23:48] watching baseball my braves are about to make an early exit from the playoffs, how about you linuxman410? [23:49] going broke [23:49] i think we all are linuxman410 :\ [23:50] my new messed up and i have run out of mney out of work for about 3 weeks getting ready to lose house and vechicles [23:50] knee [23:50] oh no linuxman410 [23:50] :( [23:51] yep i do not know how much longer i will have internet will try to stay in touch [23:53] hate to hear that linuxman410 [23:53] yeah me too [23:54] after divorce life went to pieces talk to u later going online to try to find help [23:55] ok linuxman410 hop eyou find it [23:55] thanks
