silverarrowis anyone booted in quantal now?01:04
DaekdroomI am.01:07
silverarrowDaekdroom: do you use minitube?01:09
silverarrowI have filed a bug on minitube, on powerpc iso, and  wonder if it works any bettery on i386 or 64bit01:10
silverarrowit`s a clever app which lets you stream music on youtube seamlessly one after the other01:11
silverarrowand great non flash alternative for powerpc01:11
silverarrowif anyone have the time to check minitube it would be helpful01:12
bjsnidersilverarrow, you should be given some sort of award for keeping the flame of ppc burning01:20
bjsniderlong after apple's official position became "what's powerpc"?01:20
silverarrowljol01:24
silverarrowyeah, I am stubbern with the ppc01:25
silverarrownot sure everybody likes it01:25
silverarrowbjsnider: the hard core is elsewhere though, on forums like macrumors, and a lot of G5s are still in use as severs and what not01:26
silverarrowbjsnider: however, I like minitube on regular pc too, and the packages affected on ppc, are usually not powerpc architecture specific01:27
silverarrowthe troubles I mean01:28
silverarrowit`s fast and easy installing minitube01:51
silverarrowsmall app01:51
silverarrowapparently I made a bugreport that turned out to be private02:14
DaekdroomThat's default.02:14
DaekdroomSomeone with clearance will check it for personal information and then set it public.02:14
silverarrownot sure why, there is hardly any secret info on this computer, well unless passwords where revealed02:15
DaekdroomYes, it's possible passwords are revealed.02:15
silverarrowthanks02:15
DaekdroomBut we're talking about personal information like which videos you watched.02:15
silverarrowwhich would be a bit annoying02:15
silverarrowoh, he listens too razorlight02:16
silverarrowlol02:16
silverarrowyeah, loads of stuff can appear perhaps02:16
silverarrowand the web is perhaps too hopen for any info to be there02:17
silverarrowopen*02:17
silverarrownothing much really, just a random test video02:20
silverarrowpicked up on the first page I hit upon youtube02:20

TreaverOk wait nvm05:22
TreaverWhy won't Gnome 3 work?05:22
blob4000hey there. this is probably common, but: has anyone managed to get 12.10 to run smoothly within Virtualbox? the virtualbox video driver seems not to load.. or is running very slowly. also once logged in, the desktop of Unity no longer expands to my monitor's full resolution when fullscreened05:22

TreaverThen I can remotely connect and fix the problem, if you want.05:25

TreaverHey guys I just installed gnome-shell and restarted computer then my ndiswrapper stopped working and wireless internet no longer works05:30
wilee-nileeTreaver, Did you set the wireless as all users in the install desktop?05:34
TreaverNo? I never even open the other users05:35
TreaverI had installed NDISwrapper and Wine from ethernet (In the other room) and got the wireless working05:35
TreaverThen brought it in here (This room) and installed gnome-shell now it doesn't work05:35
wilee-nileeTreaver, If you want it to work in another desktop you have to set it that way.05:36
TreaverI'm back in Ubuntu Unity and it still isn't working05:36
wilee-nileenot sure there05:36

xrfanghi, how can I remove the on screen keyboard from the login screen of 12.10?11:40
philinuxxrfang: i think the package is onboard11:43
xrfangthanks philinux11:46
philinuxxrfang: however i just checked in dconf editor and its off by default11:47
xrfangphilinux, it's by default ON here.  I did an upgrade from 12.04 yesterday11:47
xrfangalso, there seems a problem in software center (however I don't know if it is ok in older version). The behavior is that I cannot find the package by searching "myunity" (because it is not compatible with 12.10) but I can remove it by apt-get remove myunity11:48
philinuxxrfang: myunity has been removed till it's fixed11:49
philinuxso yes u can remove the package that doesnt work11:49
philinuxcheck apt-cache policy myunity from time to time11:50
xrfangphilinux, my question is that as I have installed it, it should appear in search result? or the search does not check what's INSTALLED at all, (e.g. I install a package from 3rd party)?11:50

Almindorsince I updated to 12.10 beta2 I can't login one of the users (the other/admin one works fine): http://pastebin.com/j7bzm7vy19:07
Almindorit seems there's a PAM error19:07
AlmindorI tried changing password, recreating the user etc.19:07
Almindornothing works19:07
Almindornote: this user had ubuntu 2d set on 12.04 before the update but I doubt it's causing this problem19:08
AlmindorI can create a new user with different username and that works19:08
Almindorso it's something specific to this user, but not inside the home dir19:08
Almindorany ideas? I can't find out where PAM has config files and/or how to reset it somehow19:10
bjsnideri'd say that's impossible19:11
bjsnidergotta be the home dir19:11
trismAlmindor: anything in /var/log/auth.log ? do you see a message prompted on the greeter?19:12
bjsniderobvious workaround if the home dir isn't the issue is create a new user, and change the home dir ownership to match19:12
Almindortrism, no errors message, it just "resets" to the login again (screen blank and then login again)19:13

Almindorbjsnider, it can't be home, I moved it, deleted the user, recreated with old name and I still can't login19:17

RiXtErI can give him a fix when he comes back.19:23
trismRiXtEr: what was the issue out of curiosity?19:23

RiXtErand tell it unity2d wasn't there19:24

trismchristop1: account-plugin-sip perhaps, not all of the g-o-a plugins are installed by default19:46
trismsorry u-o-a, g-o-a doesn't let you use plugins19:46

RiXtErnot the package drivers19:49

RiXtErAlmindor, I am betting it will, bjsnider where should I file this (bugs.launchpad.com ?)19:50
bjsniderRiXtEr, there's already a bug19:50
RiXtErbjsnider, damaging my system?19:50
RiXtErhow so?19:50
AlmindorRiXtEr, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/105913719:51
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1059137 in lightdm (Ubuntu) "Cannot login after un upgrade from 12.04 to 12.10 (ubuntu-2d)" [High,Confirmed]19:51
bjsniderRiXtEr, the nvidia-installer is a brute force app that overwrites libgl if it finds it int he way, so we package it with alternatives to prevent that19:52
RiXtErah, the packages didn't seem to work right here, so I used the website ones.19:52
bjsniderthe old nvidia forums contained a post from nvidia telling people to use the distro packages instead of the nvidia-installer19:53
RiXtErhrm. I have always had better luck with the nvidia-installer than the packaged drivers (on different distro's even)19:53
RiXtEreither way, that I why I love linux, freedom of choice.19:54
RiXtEr:)19:54
bjsnideryeah, makes it very easy when it wipes out anything that stands in its way19:54
LateralOctoberbjsnider, I'll give it another shot when I get home.  I'll have to get on IRC from my work laptop or something19:55
bjsnideryeah19:55
christop1another thing that just hit me: some apps try to play back on my HDMI out even though it's not even plugged in, so I can't change that either (sound settings displays only the internal speakers), only way to fix that is via pavucontrol20:06
christop1is that a bug or just me being stupid?20:06
christop1internal card is set as default though20:07
christop1also, seems like taking a screenshot of a window via alt+print is broken, alt opens the dash home, so that one becomes the active window and is on the screenshot20:27
LateralOctoberbjsnider, still around?21:46
LateralOctoberalright... so I'm having problems getting the live image running.  Nouveau is failing with failed to idle channel 1 and 2, PFIFO - playlist update failed, etc. etc.21:57
LateralOctoberalways had problems with Nouveau, so I typically ran the alternate install, booted up afterwards, blacklisted it and installed nvidia-current.  Problem is, can't do it with the live image, and I can't unload the nouveau mod and load nvidia cuz it locks the framebuffer21:58
LateralOctoberany ideas?21:58
LateralOctoberthis is beta221:59
LateralOctoberoh, and the grub screen is a garbled mess so I can't use the nomodeset or remove the splash option that has been suggested elsewhere22:00
silverarrownouveau have had trouble in ppc too22:01
silverarrowboot stage is a bit different there22:01
LateralOctoberI've never had anything but trouble with nouveau, no matter what distro I was using22:02
LateralOctoberwas always able to get around it though with a text-based installer ::cough::22:02
LateralOctoberhmm... wonder if I could do ubitiquity --automatic22:10
LateralOctoberexcept spelled correctly22:10
Belial`http://pastebin.com/WK3nGvvR getting this after trying to run synaptiks or use touchpad config in kubuntu 12.1023:06
Belial`didn't have that problem in 12.0423:06
