smartboyhwOK since ubuntustudio-default-settings got in I think not really much work to go on now except testing:D10:11
scott-workgood morning everyone :)12:43
scott-workit looks like changes are happening at work, and i expect more free time by the end of this month12:44
scott-workis anyone interested in brainstorming for next cycle and getting blueprints lined out?12:44
scott-work..12:44
scott-workby the way, len-dt and ailo (and micahg too), you guys rocked some good stuff this cycle12:45
scott-workwithout your involvement, we would have been basically dead12:45
falktxscott-work: hey there12:48
falktxscott-work: I look forward to get my Cadence tools into debian soon12:49
falktxso I kinda ask, can that be considered on the next meeting or something?12:49
falktxonly for next cycle, of course12:49
ailo-wfalktx: I'm willing to look through your stuff. We should use your apps and see how they could be useful12:51
falktxailo-w: thanks, I'm working hard to finalize them now12:52
ailo-wfalktx: Are you happy with their current state? Just add your ppa and install them?12:52
falktxI still need to write their documentation so everyone knows what they do12:52
FloatingGoatwhat apps?12:52
falktxailo-w: I'll create a new PPA just for them in the mean time12:52
ailo-wfalktx: Good idea. I can help with docs12:52
falktxthe page I use to write the app-docs is here:12:53
falktxhttp://kxstudio.sourceforge.net/KXStudio:Applications12:53
falktx(skip FeSTige and Klaudia)12:53
scott-workfalktx: that would be awesome (getting cadence into debian)!12:53
scott-workcongratulations :)12:53
falktxthanks, still lots of work to do though :)12:53
scott-workthe calf plugins apparently have a new website (and some new plugins): http://calf.sourceforge.net/index.html12:54
falktxyes, those are awesome!12:54
* FloatingGoat is going to try festige12:55
ailo-wfalktx: I'll make sure to install them and use them for a little while. I'd suggest anyone else to do that too, so we know how they are useful. 12:55
falktxailo-w: I already have them in kxstudio (as calf-plugins-git package), I assure you they are great12:56
falktxI need to update to latest git though, there has been lots of fixes recently12:56
ailo-wscott-work: I'd give len-dt most of the credit for this cycle, all though, I've been doing preparative work on a few important things, such as Ubuntu Studio developer docs. Things are kind of hectic, so things move painfully slowly for me right now on US development, but I will keep working on whatever I've started.13:04
FloatingGoatfalktx: hey can i use festige with qtractor?13:34
falktxfestige is an app, not a plugin13:35
falktxdssi-vst is there for the job, check the plugins page13:35
FloatingGoatit wont load or something13:37
falktxhM?13:37
FloatingGoatit doesnt seem to load13:39
FloatingGoatim going to try and work around it13:42
falktxnote that I don't support festige anymore13:42
falktxeverything is going towards the cadence tools13:43
falktxthere is 'Carla' in there which will replace festige soon13:43
FloatingGoatwhat is cadence?13:43
FloatingGoat I was looking at it and it looks cool13:43
smartboyhwhi scott-work 14:57
smartboyhwand ailo-w14:57
smartboyhwWow er scott-work and ailo you have been praising len-dt ?14:59
* smartboyhw joins the crowd14:59
scott-workhi smartboyhw 15:00
smartboyhwHey falktx saw you talking about cadence into debian:D15:00
smartboyhwscott-work, blueprints....Where are they?:D15:00
smartboyhwI saw it from today's logs15:00
scott-worki mention it because i wanted to start brainstorming ideas for the blueprints15:01
smartboyhwscott-work, first idea: To add a "Work hard on Developer Docs" item for ailo :D15:02
scott-worki expect that some tasks from Q will carry over to R, but i would also expect some new tasks15:02
scott-workthe current blueprint framework should also be reconsidered...the names and parsing of the blueprints were my construct and might not be the most applicable15:03
smartboyhw:D15:03
scott-workhowever, if they work and no one wants to change, delete, or add a particular blueprint topic to better handle particular tasks, then we should definitely explore that15:04
smartboyhwscott-work, so really nothing to do much for Q now eh?:D15:04
* smartboyhw hopes he can do all that testing in 14th-18th Oct....Will be quite busy ah!15:10
scott-workthere are incidentals we can always work on, e.g. website, documentation15:11
scott-workand always bug fixes that should be looked at15:11
scott-worki am actually setting up two computers on a KVM switch in the game room to help out with testing again15:11
* scott-work lost his "testing area" from the spare bedroom15:12
smartboyhwscott-work, :D15:12
smartboyhwYEAH YEAH YEAH15:12
len-dtscott-work, my testing is kind of slow these days due to a video problem with my machine. 15:19
smartboyhwwelcome len-dt look at your praises from ailo, scott-work and me!:D15:20
len-dtThere has been an offer of getting the latest gimp paint studio into repos if we are going to include it.The offer came a bit late this cycle, but might be worth considering for R15:21
* len-dt thanks people for the support, but thinks it is mostly just menu reworking.15:23
smartboyhwlen-dt, I think the new one must be in for R Alpha 1!15:23
smartboyhwlen-dt, come on you worked most hard15:23
* smartboyhw anyway thanks ailo and len-dt and scott-work for making a wonderful OS.15:25
len-dtscott-work, another item to add to R BP is getting icons set up for any of our own *.desktop or *.directory files15:25
scott-worklen-dt: if gimp paint studio was in the repo i would defintely like to include it in the graphics seeds15:25
scott-worki also wish synfig was back in the repos or some other 2d graphics animation application15:28
* scott-work wonders if pencil ever get into the repos15:28
scott-workapparently it has :)15:52
scott-worki think i will look into using this for a few upcoming projects then15:52
falktxwarning: gimpshop is a scam and virus source15:56
falktxjust in case...15:56
scott-workoho, just realized that synfig was back in ubuntu starting in quantal :D16:00
len-dtscott-work, the person to talk to for gimp paint studio is shnatsel16:07
len-dtHe already has it in his own PPA16:08
scott-worki remember shnatsel talking about it and telling me about some of the features (although i can't remember anything specific :P )16:27
len-dtscott-work, it is an addon to gimp it adds tools to gimp, not another app.16:27
len-dtMakes gimp able to do painting kinds of things as well as touch up etc.16:28
scott-worki remember the feeling that it was a set of tools that bridges gimp to photoshop functionality basically16:29
len-dtI'm not enough of an artist (paint/visual wise) to make good use of it. I like something that can draw shapes.16:29
scott-worki found this just now, which is pretty damn impressive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nKnvp2sJww16:29
len-dt(lines, squares, circles)16:29
scott-workanother interesting video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmcvR2yeGbQ16:30
scott-worki wish there would be a blender "paint studio" :P16:31
scott-workwell for video16:31
scott-worklower thirds, et al can be made with the node editor but it would be nice have scripts already together for such common things like mainstream video editors16:31
scott-workthe hope is lightworks currently for many people to provide this stuff16:32
len-dtNice video... have to start out with an artist though. I couldn't do that :)16:33
=== scott-work is now known as Guest22676
scott-workwoah, webchat did some weird stuff and then wouldn't let me log on18:55
len-dtscott-work, two more things to add to 13.04 BP are controls (Which is in progress) and mode change (Len needs to rewrite this in python)19:15
len-dtthey actually go together.19:25
scott-worklen-dt: i'm going to review the logs and then post a these items to the mailing list for record and to ask others to contribute ideas19:50
