mphillAnyone having GTK trouble with the update today. I can't launch nautilus and java apps have the mouse offset about 150px.  I get this error in the console when trying to run nautilus: nautilus: symbol lookup error: nautilus: undefined symbol: gtk_menu_button_set_menu00:19

Gamoder_Hi, I just wanted to re-ask: does anybody else have the bug (Ubuntu 10.10, 64 bit, XFCE as DE) that openoffice crashes whenever you "open" an embedded object and click on the original (non-embedded) document afterwards12:31
popey<Mirv> could someone with nvidia binary, someone with nvidia nouveau and/or someone with fglrx try out the nux from  ppa:timo-jyrinki/prerelease in quantal and report back if seeing anything regressing in bringing Dash visible / active blur?12:56

dr_willishmmm. yesterday's updates confused my desktop. reset all my settings to get it working again. noticed an amazon icon in the launcher. is that a new default. or just a webapps quirk i hit.14:11
philinuxdr_willis: it's the new default14:11
philinuxdr_willis: also see this http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2012/10/ubuntu-adds-amazon-results-off-switch-fixes-nsfw-issues?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+d0od+%28OMG!+Ubuntu!%2914:12
dr_willisso the icon is there by default. that seems  almost too much like hp and dell with their cruftware14:13
dr_willisid rather have a switch in the dash to toggle it when needed. byt i bet most people will remove the shopping lens.14:14
philinuxdr_willis: there was a huge discussion on the forums. Also see this. http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=12257857&postcount=8514:15
dr_willisdiscussion or flamefest? i tend to not hit the forums m14:16
philinuxdr_willis: that post 85 is from my sticky and has most relevant info14:16
dr_williswill be amuseing to see the ranting on release day.14:19
philinuxdr_willis: and the fact that the iso is now 758 meg14:22
philinuxno more fit on cd and the alternate install is gone too14:23
dr_willispeople will rant about the size.. then in the next line say more stuff should be included. ;)14:23
philinuxdr_willis: lol yes indeed14:24
dr_willisof course im the kind that removes libreoffice to save space ;)14:24
philinuxdr_willis: I'm the kind thats fortunately been able to use live usb stick14:25

pepeeafter upgrading, grub did not find my windows 7 partition. I had to mount that partition manually and run update-grub218:32
pepeeI had those entries edited by hand in fstab, and used the old format without UUIDs. something changed that to the UUID format and after that grub didn't find the windows partition18:34
BluesKajreally , were you using legacy-grub previously ?18:34
pepee6+ months ago, yeah18:37
BluesKajpepee, fstab works ok , but I haven't bothered with it since upgrading to 12.10 . Dolphin places shows all my partitions and external drive as labelled18:38
pepeeI'm just saying that there is a bug and grub did not detect that partition18:39
BluesKajdid you run os-prober ?18:39
pepeeI know how to do things, the problem would be when someone who knows even less than me discovers this problem18:40
pepeeno, I didn't, don't even know what it is18:40
BluesKajactually this the first I've heard of any bug18:41
jtaylorI just asked in -devel if its on someones shedule18:41
jtaylorthe bug seems very common18:41

BluesKajto do with18:43
pepeewell, for the record, that's my workaround. mount the partition and run update-grub218:49

jtaylorthx18:57
jtaylorI'll mark that critical if theres another report18:59
pepeeah yeah, I see. the grub update was installed an hour ago. kinda conflicting because I just found this half an hour ago lol19:01
pepeeI mean, I can't say if it was fixed or not. anyway, thanks, I hope I could help19:03
jtaylorpepee: the issue will be looked at by dev's,  if you can provide some extra information please post it in the bug19:38
pepeejtaylor, well, the bug report it's what I'm seeing, os-prober fails to find windows unless I mount that partition19:43
pepeejtaylor, does a trace help somehow?19:46

jtaylorunfortunately I know nothing about grub19:46
