ScottKSput: Differnt system with a fresh install and I still have the problem.  I think it's definitely real.00:40
=== ScottK2 is now known as ScottK
ScottKafiestas: Why does the bluedevil systray icon stay visible when bluetooth is off now?  I have this problem on two machines.  I hope this is not on purpose.01:55
afiestasScottK: deine off01:56
afiestas*define off01:56
ScottKWhen I right click on the systray icon and tell it to turn bluetooth off.02:01
ScottKBTW, I am in an airplane at 30K feet, so I'm a bit laggy.02:01
ScottKafiestas: ^^^02:01
afiestasScottK: that's never been like that02:02
afiestasI mean, it will still be there because you want to be able to quickly enable it when needed02:02
afiestasso if you disable it "software wise" then it stays02:02
ScottKShouldn't it autohide?02:02
afiestasScottK: nope, it should autohide when hardware switch is set to off02:03
ScottKWeird.02:03
ScottKI guess something turned it on on my computer then because this suddenly appeared.02:03
ScottK(a day or so ago)02:03
ScottKRoughly coincident with the last bluedevil upload.02:04
afiestasnothing has been changed there02:04
afiestasfor ages actually, thing is02:04
ScottKK02:04
afiestas"If you disable it via the interface, it remains so it can be enabled via interface"02:04
ScottKThanks.02:04
afiestas"If you disable it via hardware, then you will need hardware to enable it interface is not needed"02:04
ScottKRight, but it can be hidden, but available.02:05
ScottKThat's two clicks instead of one, but hey, you turned it off.  Shouldn't the systray be decluttered?02:05
afiestasit may, I'm no usability expert02:06
afiestasther eis no plasma policy about this02:06
afiestasBattery behaves like that because sebas wanted it that way02:07
afiestasthat's sebas decisions, not plasma02:07
ScottKI think it's smart.02:08
ScottKWhen agateau did messaging menu for Canonical he took the same approach.  If no apps are running that need it, it hides.02:08
ScottKI think the less clutter in the systray the better.02:08
afiestasapps != system stuff02:08
ScottKTrue02:08
afiestasI haven't get used to the autohiding thing, many kde developres neither02:09
ScottKThe printer widgets that both Riddell and dantti did also autohide when no printing is going on.02:09
afiestasyet we aren't the best users to test it02:09
afiestasbut anywya I'm unsure02:09
afiestasand you have 0 interaction to "hide it"02:09
afiestasI mean, you don't have interaction with printing unless you are printing something02:09
ScottKIf one want it different, it can be configuried.02:10
afiestasthat's not the case with the battery plasmoid or the bt02:10
ScottKI don't have interaction with BT unless I want to do something with it.02:10
afiestaswell, I'm not going to change it unless some usability checks ar edone02:11
ScottKOK.02:11
afiestaspersonally I don't care much, so I need somebody to tell me to02:11
ScottKNot sure how to go about that.02:11
afiestasand in theory, bt systray will die by default02:11
ScottKNot sure what you mean by that?02:11
afiestasit won't be added by default to the systray02:12
afiestasyou don't need to02:12
afiestasho wmany times do you use it? the only common task performed in the tray is sending files02:12
afiestasand to do that you have Dolphin which works way better02:12
afiestasso b de02:12
afiestasso by default it will be hidden (not executed), and an option will be added to put it there again02:12
afiestassince it might be useful for some workflows involving many BT devices connections02:13
ScottKI'm finding it there by default now though, so I'm confused.02:13
ScottK(there = not hidden)02:13
ScottKI virtually never use it, which is why I like the idea of it auto hidden.02:14
afiestasyep02:15
afiestasit is still there02:15
afiestasbut I plan to remove it02:15
afiestas'm kinda sleepy (4:15 AM here)02:15
afiestasI wanted to say 02:15
afiestas"Anyway it is going to be removed so we shouldn't worry too much about having it or not in the systray"02:16
ScottKOK.02:16
ScottKThat makes sense.02:16
ScottKThanks.02:16
ScottKI was wondering if you were up early or late.02:16
ScottK(was suprised to get an immediate reply from you)02:16
ScottKFor everyone: New Kubuntu builds are up, so please test.02:17
Noskcajcan anyone testing kubuntu(especially in NSW) keep an eye out for these two bugs 1066225 and 106622305:34
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1066225 in ubiquity (Ubuntu) "encript home folder needs to be checkbox not radio button" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/106622505:34
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1066223 in ubiquity (Ubuntu) "kde ubiquity detects Sydney timezone but says Adelaide" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/106622305:34
shadeslayerNoskcaj: can you add them to the QA tracker06:22

ScottKRiddell: Please have a look at Bug #1066378 when you have a moment.19:48
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1066378 in kde-workspace (Ubuntu) "Unable to make secure wireless connection during live session with plasma-netbook" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/106637819:48
kubotu::workspace-bugs:: [1066378] Unable to make secure wireless connection during live session with plasma-netbook @ https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1066378 (by Scott Kitterman)20:00
ScottKSput: It's the same on 32 or 64 bit, fwiw.20:05
RiddellScottK: hum, no immediate ideas on that one21:02
ScottKDidn't you do something so kdewallet wasn't used in the live session?21:03
Riddellrm -f /root/usr/share/kde4/services/kwalletd.desktop21:04
Riddellis in casper21:04
Riddellbut that's the same for desktop and netbook21:04
ScottKOK.21:05
ScottKSo then maybe netbook handles lack of the wallet differently.21:06
TeLLuSHmm, Radeon 9200 Pro is not working as good as it did before. I get CPU hangs, could be HW related, will try the N.. GPUbrand.  Installed a todays daily Kubuntu Desktop i386, Install (entire disk), Swedish translation from USB. Saw a few missing translation like he first one. It said Thank you for choosing Kubuntu 12.10. instead.21:11
RiddellScottK: netbook live can connect to my wifi with password21:12
ScottKHmmm.21:13
ScottKI had it fail on two different APs.21:13
ScottKTeLLuS: For your Radeon issues, #ubuntu-x is generally a better channel.21:13
TeLLuSAlso I reacted from what it said that it was easy to install Firefox or Chrome.  But I have not seen a generic browser selector, only the Firefox installer.21:14
RiddellTeLLuS: well Muon makes it easy to install anything :)21:18
Noskcajjust wanting to bring to your attention bug 1066225 as most of you wont be affected by it but end users will be confused21:19
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1066225 in ubiquity (Ubuntu) "encript home folder needs to be checkbox not radio button" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/106622521:19
RiddellTeLLuS: grep says there's no string "Thank you for choosing" in ubiquity, so it might be from d-i (or maybe you're reporting it wrongly confusing my grep)21:20
RiddellNoskcaj: not something that can be fixed at this stage in the release I'm afraid21:21
Riddellbut patch for r-series welcome :)21:22
Noskcaji didnt think it would21:22
ScottKRiddell: I'm not convinced what Noskcaj is proposing would be an improvement.21:22
ScottKI still don't understand what he thinks is wrong with the way it is now.21:23
NoskcajScottK: for people who no what their doing like you its not a problem but for most end users it is21:23
Noskcajscottk have a look at the normal ubuntu equivelant 21:23
ScottKI think it might be useful to add text that says encrypt and require password, not just encrypt, but I don't see why making it a checkbox is desirable.21:24
Noskcajhttp://doztech.net/wp-content/uploads/images/2f47433e2d3d_11F52/Install-Ubuntu-12.04-on-a-Mac-using-VirtualBox--21.png21:25
yofelRiddell: the "Thank you for choosing" string is in the slideshow IIRC21:25
Noskcajthen if that is not wanted it needs rewprding21:25
Riddellyofel: ah I see21:25
yofelneeds to be re-translated every release as it has the version number in it21:25
Noskcaj*rewording21:25
ScottKOK.  Now that I see it, I agree that's clearer.21:26
ScottKAs Riddell said, patch welcome for "R".21:26
Noskcajif only i knew how to code this stuff21:28
ScottKIf you got the source and looked, you could figure it out.21:29
ScottKMaking changes in the U/I using kdevelop doesn't really require programming skills.21:29
Noskcajok, i will look into it later21:30
TeLLuSRiddell: I'll send you a picture to jr@jr...21:30
RiddellTeLLuS: yep, it's untranslated https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/quantal/+source/ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu/+pots/ubiquity-slideshow-kubuntu/sv/+translate?batch=10&show=all&search=thank+you+for21:44
ScottKIs the German word for "Installation" installation?21:51
ScottKapachelogger should know.21:52
ScottKRiddell: Here's an even odder factor: Live session in German, I can connect.21:54
yofelScottK: Installation is the same in german, right21:57
TeLLuSRiddell: Thanks for pointing me to that page. I have made a suggestion.22:00
skaetScottK, Riddell -  have created https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/topic-r-flavor-kubuntu for the Kubuntu team to use to group blueprints under of interest to the Kubuntu project as they get created/discovered. ;)22:21
ScottKyofel: thanks22:45
Riddellthanks skaet 22:46
