bennypr0fanesome process started and never ended until I shut down the terminal00:00
bennypr0faneno man page though00:00
holsteinyou can try "man -help" or just search for them online00:00
holsteinhttp://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/dapper/man1/prename.1.html00:00
bennypr0faneso I did this now: ~$  sudo chown -R ben:ben /media/LinuxData00:01
holsteinbennypr0fane: is that where the drive in question is mounted?00:01
bennypr0fanechecking permissions in the file manager, they look the same as before00:01
bennypr0faneyes00:01
bennypr0faneit's an 800GB partition just for my user files00:02
wxlshould i point out the fact that there is no rename command?00:02
bennypr0faneand I can't get the ***m Linuxes to use it00:02
bennypr0fanewxl yes there is00:02
holsteinbennypr0fane: to use what?.. is that ext? or fat?00:03
bennypr0faneext400:03
holsteinok.. i see it /dev/sdb2: LABEL="LinuxData" UUID="86239bc9-8bfe-4d3a-8c9a-4885cd2bdb61" TYPE="ext4"00:03
bennypr0faneyes00:03
holsteini add with the uuid's00:04
bennypr0faneit seems most people do00:04
bennypr0fanebut the LABELS muszt work too00:04
bennypr0faneotherwise my system would never boot, since I mounted the system partition with Label as well00:05
holsteinhavent ever tried... ive only ever used the UUID00:05
wxlyou win. news to me00:06
holsteinbennypr0fane: i would undo the fstab.. get the system booting as expected.. manually mount and make sure its mounting as expected and you have permissions00:06
holsteinthen move on to making it automatic at startup from there00:06
bennypr0fanewell but then I'd have to repeat in each session00:06
holsteinbennypr0fane: then,, after you can get it persistent00:06
wxlyou can try manpages.ubuntu.com next time00:06
bennypr0fanewell how would you do thaT?00:06
holsteinbennypr0fane: i would undo the fstab edit, and get the machine booting as expected00:07
holstein!mount | bennypr0fane00:07
ubottubennypr0fane: mount is used to attach devices to directories. See also https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Mount00:07
bennypr0faneholstein I mean what would you do to make it automatic after that so you don't need to re-mount manaually at each session?00:07
holsteini would refer to that ^^ or the one i linked above and mount the partition to that directory, and check that you can read/write00:08
bennypr0faneok, I get it00:08
holsteinbennypr0fane: then, i would trouble shoot a proper fstab from there00:08
bennypr0faneI thought that's what I was doing now...00:08
holsteinanyways.. i gotta run.. you can also try #ubuntu or one of the more busy channels if you need since this is not LXDE or lubuntu specific00:08
bennypr0faneright00:09
holsteingood luck! :)00:09
bennypr0fanethanks!00:09
bennypr0fanebye!00:09

Techna_Rave_PonyHello?06:48
jmarsdenTechna_Rave_Pony: Do you have an Lubuntu-related question?06:51
Techna_Rave_PonyI want to know when the next Lubuntu LTS release is06:52
Techna_Rave_PonyIf I am to understand correctly it does not coincide with Canonocal's06:52
Techna_Rave_PonyOh dear, I forgot my punctuation.06:53
jmarsdenTechna_Rave_Pony: Lubuntu does not have the developer resources to officially do LTS.  If we did, we'd match the Ubuntu LTS schedule.06:53

Dukeis there a way to restore files deleted with rm command?11:10
NUCLEARWINTER!undelete11:11
ubottuSome tools to recover lost data are listed and explained at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DataRecovery - Recovering deleted files on !ext3 filesystems can be virtually impossible, although methods that might work is some cases are described at at http://www.xs4all.nl/~carlo17/howto/undelete_ext3.html and http://projects.izzysoft.de/trac/ext3undel11:11
DukeNUCLEARWINTER: Thank you! :)11:11

fjodorhi, i am using lubuntu and i have replaced openbox with i3. how do i change the keymap? ibus doesnt work. i want to use de,us,ru,ja16:15
starkershow have you replaced it?16:16
starkersdefault session uses the lxdesktop stuff to handling keybinds etc so have a look at that16:17
fjodorstarkers: lxdesktop is running, but instead of starting openbox i am starting i3. theres an option for that16:17
fjodorthe rest is the same16:18
fjodoribus doesnt work for me16:18
fjodorthere is lxkeymap which kind of works. but i would like to have an icon at my statusbar16:19
fjodorstarkers: am i right, that this would be the job of ibus?16:19
starkersI can't say I've ever used ibus so I'm no good to you I'm afraid16:19
wxli've never used ibus either16:20
* starkers shrugs and reads ibus faq16:20
wxli was tasked in a testcase to test it once but it wasn't clear what it was supposed to do and not do16:20
starkers#ibus16:20
wxlwhat i would suggest is to try running a standard session, fjodor16:20
wxlyou know what ibus is supposed to do16:20
wxlif it doesn't do it, file a bug16:21
wxlthat's probably the best way to get it fixed16:21
wxlyour only other alternative is lxkeymap (i do know enough to know that they accomplish essentially the same purpose)16:21
fjodorwxl: mmh what do you do to switch layout?16:21
wxlfjodor: you mean change window managers?16:22
fjodorchange keymap16:22
wxluse lxkeymap.16:22
wxlibus should also works, but if it doesn't, you should file a bug.16:22
wxlhowever, i would make sure that it also doesn't work in a standard lxde session (with openbox) before filing a bug.16:22

wxlChairman_meow: anywho here's answer #1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_Studio#Audio23:25
wxlChairman_meow: #2 is https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuStudio/RealTimeKernel and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RealTime23:29
wxlChairman_meow: you will find that the real-time kernel doesn't exist in the current ubuntu studio release tho https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_Studio#Real-time_kernel23:29
