[14:03] whee! === xTEMPx is now known as xTEMPLARx [14:03] wow [14:03] its been quiet since I've been gone [14:08] it seems the latest beta nvidia driver fixes the unity hidden launcher bug.... yay [14:17] hooray! [14:17] * xTEMPLARx is glad he isn't using Unity! [14:19] I have my home machine re-done with 12.10 beta2, but gnome-shell refuses to function on it. I'm gonna wait until there's a proper release that'll work with gnome-shell and NO Unity before I redo it [14:19] I gave arch a shot, but I just don't have the patience for it these days [14:25] yeah.. me either [14:25] I was anti-unity, but it seems to be stable now.. [14:26] Mine isn't an issue with it's stability, but more of its usability and intuitive-ness [14:26] I didn't "take" to it [14:26] but I took to Gnome Shell pretty quickly, and its a similar paradigm [14:26] ah... [14:27] I gave Unity the old college try for a while, but kept running into road blocks that kept me from getting my work done, while gnome shell really hasn't [14:27] :D [14:27] these days I'm more likely to take what comes in the distro by default in an attempt to get back to work quicker [14:27] i hear ya [14:27] :) [14:27] which is partly why I'm waiting for 12.10 to give me a more proper gnome shell installation option than it has right now [14:27] I don't want to fiddle with it [14:27] I have very little time at home to fiddle with such things [14:28] between a wife and a three-yr-old-about-to-be-four-yr-old, I have little free time [14:28] :D [14:28] yeah... funny how that fiddle-time allotment changes with age [14:28] totally [14:28] I have a wife and 3 kids... [14:29] BROTHER [14:29] you feel mah pain [14:29] time and sleep are worth a lot to me :) [14:29] t..time? sleep? what are these things?! [14:29] exactly [14:31] and then, to compound things, I go and torture myself with projects that I can't really attend to, due to financial and time constraints [14:31] argh! [14:31] what's wrong with me?! [14:31] its like I want to be tortured or something [14:32] :) [14:35] i needs a mig welder. someone give me one they're not using. [14:35] :D [14:36] well... at least your projects seem to have a real-world component... Mine are purely virtual and, as far as the wife can tell, are vapor [14:43] Hah. I know that feel. [14:44] hard to impress upon someone the importance of something they cannot see [14:44] reminds me of the early days of the internet when I'd sit on IRC at a computer and be laughing my butt off. The entire time my parents thought something was wrong with me [14:50] xTEMPLARx: good vacation? [14:51] wrst: pretty nice. I cannot complain [14:51] well I can complain about my eating habits [14:51] but the time off itself was pretty nice [14:52] I am off this week [14:52] I mean I am "off" all the time [14:52] but away from work [14:53] :D [14:53] enjoy yourself! [14:53] I gave arch a short-lived try at home [14:54] grub broke things though [14:54] the instructions on the arch site didn't really make that simple [14:54] made me wanna break something myself [14:54] so I put 12.10 back on [14:54] and am still just using the win7 partition [14:57] wb alyawn [14:58] xTEMPLARx: I just use that dandy little mkconfig command and all usually comes out heavenly [14:58] no idea what you're talking about [14:58] lol [14:58] i don't recall that in the instructions [14:59] bbiaf, I gotta VPN to a customer's network, so I'll probably drop connection [15:19] morning all [15:32] I think I'm back... not sure yet. [15:32] :D [15:35] sort-of [15:38] :D [15:38] at least one other person here is alive [15:38] I guess I can't expect wrst to keep me company since he's not working [15:38] :D [15:40] somewhat alive [16:23] xTEMPLARx: no way! [16:25] unreliable is what you are [16:26] selfishly thinking you can just not be here waiting for every line I may or may not type [16:32] I know xTEMPLARx I hate to disappoint people [16:33] :) [16:34] xTEMPLARx: I'm cleaning my wife's car now so I'm more than happy to check my phone on occasion [16:34] haha [16:34] GET TO WORK, SLAVE! [16:34] it is nasty [16:34] how's the young'un?
