HabermasHey guys! Would appreciate some advice! Removed AbiWord through Synaptic but it does not disappear from the "Start menu" :( Any ideas why?12:20
HabermasI'm also having a hard time figuring out how to rename desktop items12:23
Habermasany suggestions on an easy way to set up some keyboard shortcuts, for example, to send active windows to different workspaces?13:16
holsteinHabermas: i havent done exactly what you are looking for, but i would assume there is a way.. i use the rc.xml in openbox which has things like13:41
holstein   <keybind key="S-A-Left">13:41
holstein      <action name="SendToDesktop">13:41
holsteinthere is an lxde-rc.xml as well.. i would look for an already existing one that maybe you dont know about... test it, and edit the key combinations as needed13:42
psilo23~~/close15:32
Habermasguys, I uninstalled AbiWriter through Synaptic but it does not disappear from the menu :( Any ideas?16:12

tatawhy lubuntu 12.04 allways need password for anything, how to turn off that?18:07
NUCLEARWINTERlike for what?18:15
tatalike, open ntfs partitions18:17
NUCLEARWINTERpermission issues18:18
tataolder lubuntu no need password for that18:18
NUCLEARWINTERif that drive is always connected, add it to fstab18:18
tatayes always conected, how to add to fstab18:19
NUCLEARWINTER!fstab | tata18:19
ubottutata: The /etc/fstab file indicates how drive partitions are to be used or otherwise integrated into the file system. See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Fstab and http://www.tuxfiles.org/linuxhelp/fstab.html and !Partitions18:19

macdanhi is it better to install 12.04 or 12.10 version of lubuntu ?18:49
Random832It says I'm "not authorized" to hibernate the machine19:13
tweaksteri am looking in Synaptic at a package called "zram-config", which is described as supporting kernels that have the zram module available. So how would I determine whether Lubuntu's kernal has the module available?21:13
zorgborghi guys im playing about with window border themes and im abit stuck with how to handle .xbm files as look & feel customiser only seems to use .obt's, anyone know how to install .xbm's?22:11
Faflatas1Hello, I am using lubuntu 12.10 + i3 on an lenovo X1 Carbon, and it seems that the power button and the microphone mute button are not captured, they don't produce events in xev, do you people have any idea how to fix this/what to check in order to debug further ?22:27
holsteini usually just accecpt it as a symptom of being "minimal"22:41
holsteinyou can always try other live CD's and see if they are captured and see what packages are there and how to implement it in lxde22:42
Faflatas1holstain, it's not lxde related22:42
Faflatas1X don't get the event22:42
holsteinFaflatas1: imnot saying its an "lxde" issue22:43
Faflatas1there has to be a way to check for low level events yes ?22:43
holsteinFaflatas1: im suggesting its a package that could be added to your install utilizing LXDE22:43
holsteinwhat would i do? i would load up a normal ubuntu cd and see if the events are captured there, and i would poked around and try and see what is handling them22:43
holsteinthey dont have to work i linux, but they usually do, or they can be made to work22:44
holsteinFaflatas1: i routinely find that the powerbutton doesnt work with the "lighter" distros and DE's22:44
NUCLEARWINTERworks if you listen to acpid22:45
NUCLEARWINTER:-)22:45
Faflatas1holstein hmmm yeap sounds reasonable - but it might not work there as well in which case I would have to go lower anyway22:45
holsteinNUCLEARWINTER: and install acpid?22:45
NUCLEARWINTERor was it acpi22:46
NUCLEARWINTERapplication called: acpi_listen could help22:48
Faflatas1NUCLEARWINTER:  Let me check /proc/acpi/event see if any event comes there22:48
NUCLEARWINTERbeen a while since I played with acpi22:49
NUCLEARWINTERI made it react with my laptops lid and so on22:49
NUCLEARWINTERand I pressed powerbutton, it run this "exitx" for openbox22:50
Faflatas1closing the lid and everything works fine22:50
Faflatas1just the powerbutton and the mute button that are not registeres22:50
OpenSorceDoes anyone know if Lubuntu will run on an old tablet with a Transmeta Crusoe 5800 proc and 256 megs of ram?23:44
NUCLEARWINTERLinus CPU!23:44
OpenSorceI know right?23:44
OpenSorceCan't stand to have windows on a machine with a proc that Linus himself helped design... no matter how shitty it is :-P23:45
NUCLEARWINTERtry a i686 desktop version23:46
NUCLEARWINTERoh23:46
NUCLEARWINTERcrusoe might be i58623:46
NUCLEARWINTER:D23:46
OpenSorceIt is23:46
NUCLEARWINTERsorry23:46
NUCLEARWINTERubuntu is about i68623:46
OpenSorceI'm gonna try it either way, just wondering if anyone else has. 10.04 still supports 58623:47
NUCLEARWINTERSalixOS dropped support for i486 and moved to i686 too23:47
NUCLEARWINTERhmmm23:48
NUCLEARWINTERHowever, other future editions of Salix 14.0, such as the LXDE or Ratpoison editions will probably keep supporting even those very old CPUs, by also providing an i486 kernel.23:48
NUCLEARWINTERit might be just this RC release23:48
OpenSorceI figure it HAS to be faster than Xp is on this dinosaur23:48
NUCLEARWINTERhard to say23:49
NUCLEARWINTERXP is quite versatile23:49
NUCLEARWINTERit just boots slowly23:49
OpenSorceIt's so slow with XP sp3 that there is a half second delay in keystrokes in firefox23:49
OpenSorceokay, thanks for the chat, gotta run go try this. Wish me luck23:50
