[23:23] <geirha> It's not bleeding edge, but new enough, and it's LTS (long term support), so you don't have to upgrade until 2-3 years
[23:25] <geirha> There's a new release every 6 months (april and october). To upgrade from one release to another, you have to upgrade to each intermediate release
[23:26] <geirha> However, every fourth release is an LTS releases, and you can upgrade from one LTS release to the next LTS release, skipping three upgrades

[23:35] <geirha> While it's old, it doesn't sounds like it predates the boot-from-USB era. You might have to enter the bios to get it to boot usb though
