Steel_I'm running lubuntu on a laptop, and cannot get my synaptics touchpad to work.  The mouse function, and both buttons work fine I just can't get the mouse clicks with the touchpad to work.00:11
Haswellwhat benefits are cut in lubuntu, comparing with ubuntu?00:59
LoderHi, I'm wondering if anyone can help me improve performance in flash games on my Lubuntu system.04:57
LoderOr perhaps to let me know if smooth performance is even possible with my specs: http://pastehtml.com/view/cimhfjwaz.html04:58
LoderIf anyone sees my question, I should be back within 15 minutes of the time of this message. I appreciate the help if anyone is able to offer any advice.04:59
holsteinLoder: it'll be all about the graphics driver i say.. try the proprietary one if you havent05:01
LoderHolsetin, I have it installed already unfortunately05:09
holsteinLoder: i would try others.. the the latest from nvidia... try old ones.. try nv ... try vesa05:10
holsteinLoder: that is likely the issue, as the specs should be fine05:10
LoderAlright, well the one I have was just from the additional drivers window05:10
LoderI'll see if I can get something from nvidia's website05:10
LoderAlso, youtube videos at 360p are sometimes smooth except for slight choppiness, but others are unwatchable05:12
holsteinor ppa... i think you can add a ppa easy enough for updated drivers05:13
holsteinLoder: i have had the same issues... just depends on the driver support05:13
LoderSorry, ppa?05:14
LoderNew to linux05:14
holstein!ppa05:14
ubottuA Personal Package Archive (PPA) can provide alternate software not normally available in the offical Ubuntu repositories - Looking for a PPA? See https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+ppas - WARNING: PPAs are unsupported third-party packages, and you use them at your own risk. See also !addppa and !ppa-purge05:14
holsteinhttp://askubuntu.com/questions/104527/how-do-i-install-the-latest-nvidia-drivers-via-the-additional-drivers-tool05:15
LoderOkay, so start with the driver and then look into PPAs if necessary?05:15
holsteini would read about packages... see that you understand how to purge that ppa.. and remove xorg.conf files.. how to use the recover console05:15
holstein!tty05:16
ubottuTo get to the TTY terminals 1-6, use the keystroke ctrl + alt + F1-F6 respectively (Alt+F7 will get you back to your graphical login).  To change the resolution for your TTY, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ChangeTTYResolution05:16
holsteinasssuming you boot and need to do some work05:16
LoderHaha, "Purge" it?05:17
LoderI feel like such a newbie05:17
holsteinLoder: the link i gave lists purge info05:17
LoderYou wouldn't say that I"m an a+ certified professional with a lot of experience with windows05:17
LoderK05:17
holsteinsure.. you can make your system not boot05:18
holsteinLoder: i used to just reinstall.. test.. break... reinstall05:18
holsteinLoder: it installs so fast, that doest bother me05:18
LoderAh I see05:19
LoderUbuntu and its derivatives seem very user-friendly after everything is up and running, but getting to that point seems to require some assistance from a tech-savvy individual05:22
LoderAlthough newer systems seem to be pretty easy so far; Ubuntu 12.10 installed and runs perfectly on both of my newer systems05:23
LoderBrb, rebooting05:26
holsteinwell, nvidia could help.. they could provide you with a driver, and it could be included and work out of the box.. as most intel hardware does05:26

Lubuntu is great distro, but this is very strange that it is impossible to change login image (because the default one is ugly and 12.04 is beautiful and i want to use 12.04 login screen). Any ideas?18:03
