BeardmancerDoes anybody have any leads on what version of fglrx I should install and how?01:42
BeardmancerTo clarify, I had to nuke my system and reinstall the last time I installed fglrx, and the version available in the repositories appears to be terrible. Not sure what I should do to get Catalyst working on Ubuntu Gnome Remix 12.1001:45

britt_hey guys07:02
britt_nice work on todays updates07:02
darkxstBeardmancer, you should never need to reinstall after failed driver installation08:09
darkxstyou can always fallback to vesa driver, either through recovery mode (From boot menu) or manually with xorg.conf08:09
darkxstricotz, are there plans to backport g-c-c 3.6 to Q or will it just remain in the gnome3 ppa?10:34
ricotzdarkxst, this won't happen, so it will be ppa only10:56

britt_Hey guys, I have noticed something odd with Gnome-Shell17:42
britt_and I do not know if it was a change in gnome 3.6 or a regression17:43
britt_Gnome-Shell used to open up a web browser and take your URL if you typed in a URL into the search box, but it is no longer doing such a function17:44
jbichaah, the Google & Wikipedia buttons were removed17:45
jbichaso that's sort of a regression but I don't know if the devs and designers are sure about how to add that back in17:46
britt_were they removed by the gnome devs or ubuntu devs?17:46
jbichaapps like Nautilus, Contacts, Documents can ship their own GNOME Shell search providers so it sounds like you just need someone to write a generic web search provider17:46
britt_hrm17:47
jbichaby gnome; Ubuntu doesn't really patch GNOME Shell, at least not more than Debian does17:47
britt_I see. It is weird that Gnome 3.4 had that feature working beautifully. It was very similar to the Unity search bar in that sense17:48
jbichahttps://extensions.gnome.org/extension/512/wikipedia-search-provider/ (you have to prefix you search with w though)17:49
britt_very nice, thanks for looking for me17:50
jbichathe Google & Wikipedia buttons weren't that great of a design17:52
jbichathe idea's good; it's just a matter of making it fit well with the rest of the system17:53
britt_yeah. I wouldn't mind if it worked much like the Unity launcher17:55
darkxstjbicha, can you upload this to raring -> https://code.launchpad.net/~darkxst/ppa-purge/multiarch-lp892886/+merge/134576?21:16
darkxstjbicha, can you assign this bug again quantal (its already fixed in raring) https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/104611822:37
Beardmancerdarkxst, sorry, I left my computer yesterday and just got back to it. I would tend to agree with you. There were probably other issues with my old install, as recovery did not work. If I were not such a novice, I'm sure it could have been easily revived.23:31
BeardmancerAt any rate, I wanted to try UGR anyhow, so here I am. :) Is installing fglrx via the repositories the suggested method, then, despite cold reviews from 12.10 users?23:32
