jussican someone give me a quick update on where we are with ubuntu tv?13:16
popeyjussi, http://www.doadjustyourset.com/ is the best place to see the project status13:55
jussithanks popey.14:18
jussipopey: is there a nightly ppa somewhere? I saw it mentioned in regard to ISO's in the task list (with your name on it...14:32
popeynot yet14:32
jussiok - when is it estimated it will come? and I jut have to compile in the meantime? or?14:32
mhall119jussi: bobweave is still working on the Nux port, having some issues getting local Unity dev environment setup15:35
jussimhall119: argh, ok. Frstrating. How useable is the old unity2d stuff?16:40
mhall119jussi: it's demo-able, but it's only a demo16:43
jussiright.16:43
mhall119bobweaver has made it very easy to install the demo code from a PPA though16:44
mhall119but, it's not ready for livingroom use yet, if that's what you were after16:44
jussimhall119: also, the actual "tv" part - is it done, part done or just "demo" ?16:44
jussimhall119: yeah, Im after the living room bit :D16:44
mhall119jussi: it's all just "demo"16:44
mhall119jussi: I'm sure they'd welcome some help :)16:44
tgm4883i'd recommend mythtv16:44
mhall119course you would :P16:45
jussimhall119: you remember my coding skills... right? :P16:45
tgm4883mhall119, being that for the DVR portion of Ubuntu TV, the only integrated backend will be MythTV, I think it's a good recommendation ;)16:45
mhall119me too16:50
jussihrm, last time I tried mythtv it was a total mess to setup...16:57
jussivery frustrating16:57
tgm4883jussi, when was that?16:57
cm-tmhall119:  that's good news :)16:57
cm-t(g+ )16:58
jussitgm4883: about a year ago16:58
tgm4883what country are you in?16:58
jussifinland16:58
tgm4883hmm16:58
jussitgm4883: at least with mythbuntu it needed frontends and backends and all sorts or weirdness.16:58
tgm4883jussi, well that is true16:59
tgm4883you do need a frontend and a backend16:59
tgm4883although they can reside on the same machine16:59
jussihrrm16:59
tgm4883I see that as a good thing, not a bad one16:59
tgm4883you don't agree?16:59
jussitgm4883: if its painful to setup, then thats an issue17:01
tgm4883jussi, I disagree that it is painful to setup, but I'm not aware of the issues you were facing17:01
tgm4883if it was a hardware support issue, documentation, etc17:01
jussitgm4883: it may be just that I dont understand how it all works, or I missed a step. I shall try again17:02
jussitgm4883: is it easier just to grab a install to ubuntu, or better to grab the mythbuntu disc install?17:02
tgm4883jussi, the reason for the frontend/backend (client/server) setup, is so you can have a single mythtv server for recording, then have multiple frontends around your house feeding off the same server17:03
jussitgm4883: yeah, I get that. However, in my  57m2 house, only one is needed.... ;)17:04
tgm4883jussi, either is just fine. If you do a Ubuntu install, I'd recommend grabbing mythbuntu-control-centre and configuring with that. You'll probably want to install XFCE though, as there is issues with Compiz and MythTV17:04
tgm4883(or just do a Mythbuntu install)17:04
jussitgm4883: yeah, the machine in question already has kubuntu on it. hence my question :)17:05
