[09:42] Gonna take an iso to usb [10:00] hmm [10:01] mazal, look at makebootfat in synaptic [10:01] forget what all it say [10:03] I'm somme using startup disc creator , but dunno what is best to format the usb too before beginning [10:05] just delete stuff off it [10:06] i think fat32 was it otherwise other pcs dont see it [10:14] depends on what os you want to use the disk with ext file systems are linux only [10:15] doesnt disk creator dlete them anyway [10:15] delete [10:16] It's an ubuntu iso magespawn [10:17] yes that is not too seriouse but if you want to use it on windows machines it has to be fat32 or ntfs [10:18] a startup disk creates its own file system, a startup can be used to run a pc in case of hard drive problems [10:20] That's idea yeah. Want it to boot in case of emergency to copy files of from the pc's hard drive. I am making it to use instead of a cd [10:20] i run a laptop without a hd completly from a flash drive startup disk [10:20] then the startup disk creator takes care of that for you [10:21] k thanx [10:22] is actually pretty cool, cause you can carry a fully functional os on a flash drive, you can then work from any hardware [10:24] trying the estool from ubcd now [10:24] nothing else can write ti drive [10:25] cant zero, lowlevel format or kiks [10:25] s/ti/to [10:25] pmagic says handling damage [10:25] grrr [10:29] mmm [10:33] hi [10:35] Maaz: coffee on [10:35] * Maaz washes some mugs [10:36] Maaz, coffee pleas [10:36] Kilos: Sorry... [10:36] egrrr [10:36] Maaz, coffee please [10:36] Kilos: Yessir [10:39] Coffee's ready for charl_ and Kilos! [10:40] Maaz, ty [10:40] You are welcome Kilos [10:52] i am off for awhile later all [10:53] go well magespawn [11:14] what does volatile mode mean on a drive [11:14] and unvolatile of course [11:15] never heard of it before [11:15] hard drives are non-volatile memory, meaning they don't lose their data when the power is of [11:15] *off [11:16] but i've never heard of "volatile mode" before [11:19] hehe [11:34] wb psydroid [11:34] ty charl_ [11:54] hi psydroid Ludo [11:54] Wraz, ? [12:34] hi Kilos [12:34] hi Ludo [13:57] huh [13:57] can someone explain to me how a statement like "pStats = pStats_first" segfault something, when both pStats and pStats_first are struct pointers, and pStats_first is a VALID structure pointer (tested that) [14:00] omfg Im getting irritated [14:01] FINALLY [17:19] '< [17:26] hi Cantide [17:27] hey charl_ :p [17:27] when you leaving for korea [17:27] i just arrived back today [17:27] haha [17:27] ah nice! [17:27] how was it [17:28] twas awesome :) [17:28] lekke man [17:28] some things didn't go according to plan [17:28] did you take a bunch of pics [17:28] but some cool, unexpected things happened as a result [17:28] yeah :) [17:28] ah ok [17:28] did you buy some cool electronics while you were there? [17:29] bought an SSD [17:29] that's it :p [17:29] and lots of kimchi and other stuff [17:29] lol [17:29] yeah you can buy practically anything anywhere in any case right? [17:30] but food is a different thing [17:30] yeah [17:30] kimchi looks interesting [17:30] haven't you tried it yet? [17:30] nope never been to korea myself [17:30] oh~~ [17:30] pity :) [17:30] it's good stuff!! [17:31] you can probably buy it at a korean restaurant in the west too [17:31] It did take me a few months to get used to it though [17:31] yeah, i bet you can [17:31] i was at a korean restaurant one day in dublin [17:31] the food there wasn't too bad [17:31] :) [17:31] but it's a pity they use pork in everything [17:31] and i try to avoid pork [17:31] you can get beef [17:31] thrkfql [17:31] oops [17:32] haven't set up my Korean input yet.. [17:36] lol [17:38] 소갈비 <- that's what i meant to type before [17:43] haha [17:43] nice [17:43] so how's your korean coming along? [17:43] your girlfriend was korean if i remember correctly? [17:58] evening all [17:59] hi magespawn [17:59] hey charl_ [18:00] charl_, long story about the girl :p [18:00] but yeah, my Korean is shocking :) [18:00] I did meet a Korean teacher while i was there [18:00] and i spent some time with her [18:00] so i will get lessons from her in the future '-' [18:01] Cantide: how was the net access there? [18:01] awesome, of course :) [18:01] i had 0 ping [18:01] and 18 mb down or so [18:01] according to speedtest [18:02] almost makes we want to emigrate [18:02] immegrate? [18:03] go and stay there [18:04] :) [18:20] 18mb? not wanting to start a pissing contest but i have 60mb here so pretty crap for internatinal standards [18:21] (my internet is concidered "slightly above average" in NL) [18:21] according to speed test anyway [18:21] i'm not sure what line it was [18:21] but i got 18 MB down as actual throughput [18:22] which is definitely fast enough for me [18:22] ah 18 mb or mB? [18:22] bit or byte [18:23] oh.. [18:23] Mb [18:23] http://www.speedtest.net/result/2323894404.png [18:24] "Slower than 53% of Korea" [18:24] haha, i guess my friend's connection sucks [18:24] still, it was fast enough for me [18:25] 0ms ping is interesting though [18:25] that means you need to be right on the server that does the test [18:25] yeah, weird :) [18:26] mine for comparison: http://www.speedtest.net/result/2361719494.png [18:27] my only complaint is my upload speed [18:27] because uploading files takes forever [18:27] but download is pretty decent [18:27] nice :) [18:27] i couldn't care too much for upload [18:27] i'd like to see what good connections are like in Korea [18:28] from what i have heard a lot of people have fibre to the home [18:29] a good amount of people have that in europe too but most people are still on cable [18:29] or even dsl [18:37] good evening all, i'm off [18:37] ciao [19:04] night all
