[03:40] anyone around? [03:40] ubuntu-studio, sort of [03:41] Im having trouble with ubiquity crashing before install finishing [03:41] Which version? [03:42] 12.10 [03:42] 32 bit or 64? [03:42] if i cant get what i currently have to work im without an os [03:42] 323 [03:42] 32** [03:42] What kind of machine are you installing on? [03:43] its an older one [03:43] but it can run ubuntu 12.10 itself fine [03:43] That shouldn't matter too much. This is an older one (8 or 10 years) [03:43] yeah [03:43] 1gb ram, 40gb hard drive [03:44] amd athlon 2400+ [03:44] ati Radeo 7500 [03:44] im stuck [03:45] About what I installed here... but I have 2.5 G ram. I have heard problems with the ATI cards though... but not during install. If it works live it should install. [03:45] yeah it does [03:46] lets try with updates turned on, maybe by some miracle it'll work [03:46] Have you had a look at /var/log/syslog? The last few lines should tell you how far it got. [03:46] It should work fine with them turned off. [03:47] I should have asked how far it got as far as menus go. [03:47] Did it get to the slide show? [03:47] it was at the last menu with the slideshow [03:47] Did it crash or hang? [03:47] crashed [03:48] Are you still in the live session where you ran the install from? [03:48] yes, ive tired in just install mode, and live [03:48] multiple times [03:48] rebooting each time [03:49] im at the slideshow again [03:49] it just crashed [03:49] where do i look now [03:49] when it crashes, open a terminal and do a tail /var/log/syslog [03:50] That should give the last 10 lines. [03:50] alright [03:50] ubuntu-studio@ubuntu-studio:~$ ubiquity [03:50] Illegal instruction [03:50] ubuntu-studio@ubuntu-studio:~$ [03:50] i got that from terminal when i did it from there [03:51] Have you checked the md5sum of the iso? [03:51] yeah it was fine [03:53] I'm confused... [03:54] I ran it from the desktop icon crashed [03:54] so i ran it from terminal [03:54] crashed [03:54] so i went as root and ran it [03:54] crashed [03:54] This is not the best time of day as most of the people are sleeping :) [03:55] Just the few on the west coast are still up. [03:56] can i paste the tail [03:56] I wouldn't mind looking at more of your syslog file though. if it can go on pastebin [03:56] I don't remember how... [03:57] here goes [03:57] drop it at http://paste.ubuntu.com/ [03:58] http://pastebin.com/u8V3AkUB [03:58] ohhh... [03:58] well uhm its there [03:58] Ok that will do [03:59] ok so while your looking at that, do you mind if i run and have a cig, cause im stressed [04:00] No problem. Thats not very far in... I'm looking go ahead. [04:06] thnaks [04:06] im back [04:07] from what i see it looks python based [04:21] find anything len-dt [04:28] I'm still looking. It looks like you had a 40G ntfs drive and took about 9G of that for Studio? [04:28] yes [04:28] im trying one thing i jsut saw [04:30] cause i had this issue once before long ago [04:30] and removing [04:31] ubiquity-slideshow-* fixed it [04:31] so ill remove it and try again [04:31] cant hurt can it lol [04:32] From what I can see, it doesn't even start installing. It seems to have trouble accessing a disk. [04:33] how would it though its seemed to format them fine lol [04:33] brb though going to restart the live system [04:34] to get rid of the changes ive made [04:34] ill return in like 10 mins [04:35] I don't see a formating step in the logs. [04:35] I see a resize [04:44] len-dt, trying now without ubuntu-slideshow-ubuntustudio [04:44] Ok. [04:45] its def running longer this time [04:45] When you get to the install part where you do disk stuff maybe select "something else" [04:45] if this doesnt work ill try that [04:45] OK [04:45] but this is def doing more than last time did [04:47] yeah im pretty sure its working this time [04:47] here was my fix [04:47] in case you want to document it [04:49] in terminal type "sudo apt-get purge ubiquity-slideshow-*" [04:52] yeah its def installing fine now [04:52] that was the issue [04:54] thank you very much len-dt [04:55] Thank you for the tip [04:56] * len-dt is headed the shower [09:39] HI all [09:39] lomandv: hi [09:39] zequence, 你有没有搞过音频方面的软件啊 [09:40] lomandv: :). Sorry, I can only read the latin alphabet [09:41] English, Swedish or Finnish is fine ro me [09:43] Sorry to bother, I can only say to the Chinese, and Chinese friends here. [09:50] zequence, Why do you use ubuntu studio, you use it to process audio or video?I use it to handle audio and video, so I hope you can get all the guidance. [09:52] #lomandv [11:17] smartboyhw, 你好,等你好久了 [11:17] lomandv, hello [11:17] Strange that someone would talk to me in Chinese in this channel:P [11:18] 想请教一下你用ubuntu studio来处理音频和视频吗 [11:18] lomandv, second option [11:20] second option是什么意思呢 [11:20] lomandv, video [11:23] 呵 ,跟我一样,我主要也是用来制作视频的,所以想请教一下,在ubuntu下有哪些比较专业些一剪辑软件吗,你常用的是什么软件呢 [11:26] lomandv, I use OpenShot Video Editor myself [11:26] smartboyhw, 我是刚开始用ubuntu studio这个系统的,有很多地方还需要向你请教 [11:26] lomandv, don't worry:D [11:30] 我在网上找到了openshot, [11:31] smartboyhw, 你有没有用过blender这个软件呢 [11:32] lomandv, not much:P [11:34] blender是一个3D建模软件,但它也有视频剪辑功能,但不完善,比不上专业的剪辑软件方便,但在linux下却找不到理想的剪辑软件。 [11:36] 还是要跟你学习openshot了 === tenach_ is now known as tenach [19:45] Anybody having problems installing Unity?
