Guest64223can someone help me out. I downloaded and installed lubuntu and it is great however i want to remove the default games but when i try to take off even ace-of-penguins it wants to uninstall lubuntu-desktop08:09
NoskcajGuest64223, why do you need to remove it so badly?08:10
HarryLwebermorning ... need an expert in configuring a localhost09:08
Noskcajgood luck HarryLweber, i'm not sure you will find one09:38
HarryLwebermornin' Noskcaj ... i installed Lampp yesterday and got very frustrated... the installation worked pretty well ... but i am not able to start it because lampp is only available for 32bit while i am on 6409:39
NoskcajHarryLweber, that cannot be fun. and good evening to you09:40
HarryLweberNoskcaj: you can say that. i am working with php a lot and need this localhost :(09:41
tsimpsonwhat do you mean by lampp?09:42
Noskcajtsimpson, i assume linux apache mysql php5 SOMETHING?TYPO09:44
Noskcajgood night all09:45
tsimpson...assume if you want I'll just ask09:45
HarryLwebertsimpson: i mean that package by apache friends09:45
HarryLwebertsimpson: http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-linux.html ... there you go09:47
tsimpsonHarryLweber: seems easier to me to just install the packages from the repositories instead09:49
HarryLwebertsimpson: also tried this ... but the problem there was that i was not able to safe ANY PHP files in the htdocs folder09:50
tsimpsonyou need to use sudo09:50
tsimpsonor add yourself to the www-data group and chmod g+wrx /var/www/default09:51
tsimpsonmaybe you also need chgrp www-data /var/www/default too, I don't remember09:51
tsimpsonbut it's much easier to manage and it *will work*09:52
tsimpsonI used https://help.ubuntu.com/12.10/serverguide/web-servers.html and https://help.ubuntu.com/12.10/serverguide/databases.html as guides09:53
HarryLwebertsimpson: if I understand it right i could set up a vhost in my /home directory, right? that would be more easier to safe files10:03
tsimpsonsure, or you can load the userdir apache module and use localhost/~$USER10:04
Guest88910?10:06
HarryLwebertsimpson: that one i dont understand ... :(10:06
Guest88910exit10:06
synned?10:08
tsimpsonHarryLweber: apache has a module called userdir, it allows http://localhost/~user to serve files from ~/public_html10:11
HarryLweberah ok, but i guess i'll have to return to windows for this work :(10:33
HarryLweberthat goes way beyond my knowledge10:33
tsimpsonjust use the guides I posted10:41
HarryLwebertsimpson: i will... but if I have questions ... can i ping you tonight around 20.00 hrs UTC?10:54
tsimpsonif I'm here (not /away) sure10:54
tsimpsonthere's always #ubuntu too, plenty of people in there have a LAMP setup10:54
strtempohi11:42

holsteinmight be a lubuntu specific.conf or .rc15:42
holsteinother relevant posts http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2022529 http://ubuntu.distrosfaqs.org/lubuntu-users/manually-setting-autologin/15:43
m1r1holstein: thanks for info, i will check on it now19:04
WAlbenziWeird problem: On the first boot of a customized livecd, the desktop is not refreshed when an icon is removed from ~/Desktop/.  This is not present on the uncustomised LiveCD.  It appears an alteration in /var/lib (somewhere) is responsible for allowing the desktop refresh.20:18
WAlbenziAny idea what I am missing?20:18
NoskcajWAlbenzi, interesting, i have no idea though20:22
m1r1holstein: many thanks, problem solved :)20:33
