TheLordOfTimehttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1094108  <-- misfiled?19:39
ubot2`Launchpad bug 1094108 in xorg (Ubuntu) "boot is slow" [Undecided,New]19:39
penguin42TheLordOfTime: Yeh probably, but tbh I'm not sure what the right package is19:40
TheLordOfTimenor I, nor am i even sure if its a bug at all.19:41
TheLordOfTime"slow boot" isnt always a bug.19:41
penguin42dunno, I've seen quite a few where it's some screw up and something ends timing out and eventually getting on with the boot19:41
TheLordOfTimeoh you know what19:42
TheLordOfTimei think its a Wubi bug19:42
penguin42yeh seems likely19:42
TheLordOfTimetry (hd0,0):ntfs5:wubildr19:42
TheLordOfTimentfs and wubildr19:43
TheLordOfTimewubildr = wubiloader19:43
TheLordOfTimeso that's not an xorg bug at all19:43
TheLordOfTimewhat do we file wubi bugs as...19:43
penguin42I can't see any appropriate package19:44
TheLordOfTimewonder if the release team or the dev team knows.19:45
TheLordOfTimebecause its certainly not an xorg issue.19:45
TheLordOfTimeseriously, though, why do people do that... :/19:45
penguin42TheLordOfTime: It *could* be an X problem, if the problem is that the delay is just waiting for X to come up19:45
TheLordOfTimefile bugs against some random package :/19:45
TheLordOfTimetrue.19:46
TheLordOfTimebut i was commenting in general at least.19:46
penguin42TheLordOfTime: Ah well you get nagged if you file it against Ubuntu, so ....19:46
TheLordOfTimei'd rather see it filed against Ubuntu than $randompackage19:46
penguin42nod19:46
TheLordOfTimethen at least i know it needs filing against the right package.19:46
TheLordOfTimeotherwise i assume its just xorg bugs.19:46
TheLordOfTimeor gedit bugs.19:46
TheLordOfTimeheck, i've even seen kernel bugs filed against nginx once or twice19:47
TheLordOfTimeor some other unrelated package.19:47
penguin42https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage  hmm19:47
TheLordOfTimemhm19:47
penguin42that says plymouth->xorg->linux depending on the stage19:48
TheLordOfTimei think ubuntu-bug should say in its prompts "Please specify the package (if you're unsure, please read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage): "19:48
penguin42https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage#During_boot19:48
TheLordOfTime...19:48
TheLordOfTimewell then its xorg19:48
TheLordOfTimeBUT19:48
TheLordOfTimeisn't that specific to non-wubi installations?19:48
TheLordOfTimewubi's an oddball thing, it should have its own bugs section IMO19:49
TheLordOfTimeits own dummy package called 'wubi'19:49
penguin42but is it actually a wubi bug or is that message just the last thing on the screen?19:49
TheLordOfTimegood question, i steer clear of wubi bugs though.19:49
penguin42nod19:49
TheLordOfTimethe wubildr suggests they're using wubi19:50
TheLordOfTimewhich means it could be completely oddball19:50
penguin42yeh I agree19:50
penguin42file a bug against the which package instructions asking what to do with wubi?19:50
TheLordOfTimemhm.19:50
TheLordOfTimeofc, i could mail the mailing list and CC the dev/release teams.19:50
penguin42nod19:51
TheLordOfTimeor go bonkers and ping -release -devel directly19:51
* TheLordOfTime is about to go insane because of some kernel issue that is returning no useful information but segfaulting repeatedly19:51
penguin42more detail?19:52
TheLordOfTimemeh screw it.  KERNEL REINSTALLATION TIME!  ;P19:52
* hggdh wonders if TheLordOfTime is running raring and has a broadcom wireless chip...19:52
penguin42never heard of kernel reinstallation fixing anything19:53
TheLordOfTimehggdh, precise, and IWLAGN-compatible chip.19:53
TheLordOfTimepenguin42, this is from a kernel upgrade19:53
hggdhlucky you, one less bug to worry about19:53
TheLordOfTimeso i'm going to install the kernel prior.19:53
* TheLordOfTime seems to have skipped two kernel upgrades :P19:53
penguin42TheLordOfTime: What's segging?19:54
TheLordOfTimei have a substantially old kernel still lying around, that should permit me to boot.19:54
TheLordOfTimeno clue19:54
TheLordOfTimeas i said no useful information'19:54
TheLordOfTimethis system's probably on its last legs anyways19:54
penguin42no, I mean what segs - any app or one in particular?19:54
TheLordOfTimesince its hardware is at least 5 years old19:54
TheLordOfTimepenguin42, doesn't even get to GUI, just up and panics19:54
TheLordOfTimeand since i can't boot to get hte logs, i may as well hold it at the kernel prior19:55
TheLordOfTimeoh hggdh you could answer: where do wubi bugs end up?19:55
TheLordOfTimestuff that seems wubi-specific :P19:55
hggdhI *think* there is a package for it19:56
hggdhTheLordOfTime: https://launchpad.net/wubi19:56
TheLordOfTimehggdh, because LP Bug 1094108 looks like a wubi thing and not necessarily xorg, regardless of what Bugs/FindRightPackage says.19:56
ubot2`Launchpad bug 1094108 in xorg (Ubuntu) "boot is slow" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/109410819:56
hggdhTheLordOfTime: I agree19:57
TheLordOfTimehggdh, so invalid against xorg and reassign to the wubi project?19:58
hggdhI think you can directly reassing19:58
hggdhreassign even19:58
penguin42but as I say, according to the 'finding the right package' xorg is possibly correct - which means that doc needs a better description19:58
TheLordOfTime... bah stupid timeouts.19:58
TheLordOfTimepenguin42, can you send to the mailing list?19:58
hggdhpenguin42: I also agree with that one :-)19:58
penguin42TheLordOfTime: Hey you started me looking at it....19:59
TheLordOfTimeokay, so LP's timing out now19:59
* TheLordOfTime kicks LP19:59
TheLordOfTimepenguin42, i can't access my email from here :P19:59
TheLordOfTimeIRC, easy.  Email, hard.19:59
penguin42haha ok19:59
TheLordOfTime(I'm IRCing via my znc's server, SSH'd in and using 'irssi'... can't open gmail easily in CLI :P)20:01
penguin42TheLordOfTime: Wire mutt up to it!20:03
penguin42any w3m would probably do it....20:04
TheLordOfTimetrue, but i can't splitscreen on putty :P20:04
* TheLordOfTime is on a windows system sshing in to a linux system20:04
penguin42run screen20:04
penguin42TheLordOfTime: Well, you could fix that with wubi....20:04
TheLordOfTimepenguin42, not my system20:05
* penguin42 whistles innocently....20:05
TheLordOfTimeand mentioning wubi... well... DANGER DANGER DANGER DANGER DANGER RED ALERT *BOOM*20:05
TheLordOfTime(you can tell i do not like wubi)20:05
penguin42given it's nvidia it may well be xorg....20:08
penguin42sent20:09
