MichaelPDoes ubuntu use mkinitcpio -p ?02:30
tsimpsonMichaelP: it uses mkinitramfs02:31
MichaelPtsimpson: reason im asking is when i was useing arch.. like installing the catalyst driver. or something it was mkinitcpio -p linux  ... linux was kernel02:33
entrerihey there, I would like to know the name of bluetooth software in kubuntu. It is simply "Bluetooth-applet" or blueman or else ?02:35
tsimpsonMichaelP: the equivalent would be "update-initramfs -c -t -k $(uname -r)" to generate a new initramfs image02:36
tsimpsonentreri: bluedevil02:37
entreritsimpson: thanks !02:39
MichaelPtsimpson: uname -r would be 3.5.0-23-generic... so it would be..   update-initramfs -c -t -k $ 3.5.0-23-generic ?02:39
tsimpsonMichaelP: just "update-initramfs -c -t -k 3.5.0-23-generic"02:40
Mathnerd314hmm, how many packages do I have to install to go from vanilla ubuntu to kubuntu?02:40
MichaelPohh with the $02:40
tsimpsonMathnerd314: one, kubuntu-desktop02:40
MichaelPtsimpson: thanks02:42
Mathnerd314tsimpson: ok. :-) And how many sub-packages does that require?02:42
Mathnerd314I don't really care, TBH.02:43
Mathnerd314I already know it's 139MB...02:43
tsimpsonit's a lot, probably a couple of hundred02:44
MichaelPa good connection and 12:10 don't take that long02:45
Mathnerd314yeah, it's already installing02:46
tsimpsonjust so you know, installing ubuntu-desktop from a Kubuntu system requires more packages :)02:46
MichaelPthink with 12:10 apt is all most as fast as arch linux pacman02:47
Mathnerd314of course - unity takes up 100 packages or something :-)02:47
MichaelPI don't like unity02:47
Mathnerd314really? it seems to be the direction most UI's are headed02:48
MichaelPI don't like its menu for 1 thing.. Gnome-shell has menu extentions02:49
Mathnerd314ah, that is a point. too apple-like.02:49
MichaelPi like apple look better then unity02:50
Mathnerd314ok... write a blog post about it or something02:50
MichaelPI have always mainly been kde02:51

ovidiu-florinIt's stable enough.. no problems so far... just some issues with kontact19:30
ovidiu-florinand is't laggy sometimes19:31
ovidiu-florinWhat I find the most disturbing is that some windows open minimised by default19:32
ovidiu-florinand I'm staring at the screen wondering where's my window19:32
disharmonicovidiu-florin, that sounds annoying. I don't have that on my laptop that's running 12.10. Maybe a config issue19:33
ovidiu-florinif it is, soemone please tell me how to fix it19:34
BluesKajdisharmonic, I'm havingsome problems like , system setings>user management has orphaned modules , but that may nor apply to your install, but Firefox freezes alot lately , I haven't checked the logs yet19:34
ovidiu-florinusually this happenes in popups19:34
disharmonicovidiu-florin, have a look at system-settings>window behavior>windows rules .19:35
ovidiu-florindisharmonic: it's not a setting, it happenes only sometimes19:37
disharmonicovidiu-florin, Actually Focus stealing prevention seems like a likely culprit to me in your case. There's no random rules in your config?19:40
ovidiu-florinthere are just the default's. I haven't changed anything19:41
disharmonicovidiu-florin, in window behavior you could try setting focus stealing prevention to none to see if it solves your issue. Anyway, it's just a guess19:42
disharmonicBluesKaj, well it's done know. Any issues that pop up i'll just have to deal with :p . FF issues could be caused by some plugin though19:44
disharmonicknow=now19:44
ovidiu-florindisharmonic: I disabled that setting. I'll see if that still happenes19:44
