erupterhello all. I'm trying to understand what are the steps needed to go from a building project, to a ppa repository. I went through the ppa official doc, but it still assumes things I don't know about. is there a thorough step-by-step tutorial from c/make to getting apt-get to install your package?11:14
czajkowskierupter: none that I know of you could of course ask your questions for help on launchpad-users mailing list11:18
wgranterupter: You'll want to go through the Ubuntu Packaging Guide11:19
mgedminperhaps http://developer.ubuntu.com/packaging/html/packaging-new-software.html would be helpful?11:19

eruptermgedmin, this seems at least a nice start :)11:47
erupterok so my situation is this11:53
erupterthere are a number of packages already available on launchpad for x86 and amd64.11:53
erupterwhat are the steps needed to make them available for armv7 too?11:54
=== Ursinha is now known as Ursinha-afk
maxberupter: Seen the link in the channel topic?12:10
=== Ursinha-afk is now known as Ursinha
eruptermaxb doing right now12:11
gesererupter: PPAs don't support arm for the public, only for canonical and linaro teams/employees12:11
maxbI believe that's old information12:12
erupterisn't there a way I can setup my own somehow?12:12
StevenKIt is. https://dev.launchpad.net/CommunityARMBuilds12:12
geseroh, will remember that (hopefully :))12:13
erupterok but I'm not in that situation. the packages are hosted on an external buildfarm and ppa, not on launchpad12:13
czajkowskigeser: nope thats not true anymore12:14
czajkowskias maxb said look at the topic and follow the instructions12:14

leighmanget http://paste.ubuntu.com/1613366/ when trying to build with the following recipe http://paste.ubuntu.com/1613375/16:59
leighmanany ideas?16:59
dobeywell, the packaging branch is apparently out of date17:03
leighmandobey: out of date of what?17:09
leighmandobey: literally know nothing about packaging, working on quantal17:09
dobeythe version in that branch, is not the version that's in the quantal archive; thus it is out of date17:11
dobeyperhaps a bug in UDD or something. you can file a bug at https://bugs.launchpad.net/UDD aobut it17:11
mjg59Is this the right place for issues with the Ubuntu launchpad instance, or should I be elsewhere for that?17:12
dobeyalso, i'm not sure what you're trying to do exactly, but a recipe build of that branch is probably not a good way to go about it17:12
leighmandobey: why?17:12
dobeymjg59: this is the right place17:12
leighmandobey: I want to build a patched version of goa and misc for quantal17:12
dobeyleighman: because receipes aren't something that make packaging easier17:12
mjg59bzr branch lp:ubuntu/precise/qemu-kvm throws an error17:13
dobeyleighman: you probably want to do the work locally and upload to your ppa then17:13
mjg59bzr: ERROR: Revision {serge.hallyn@ubuntu.com-20111213151338-b8nkqq6l4pyvb881} not present in (python stuff)17:13
dobeymjg59: that's not a launchpad issue specifically. sounds like an out of date branch issue for that branch. filing a bug at https://bugs.launchpad.net/UDD would be the best place to report that i think17:14
dobey(and i am off to lunch for now)17:14
mjg59Ok, I'll do that. Thanks!17:15
