[00:59] the news is apps [03:48] Howdy, is anyone here? [03:52] Not really. [03:55] Has anybody here heard when it is being released? [03:55] Or better yet, does anyone have an image they would like to share? [04:01] sirajperson: April. [04:06] so, any news on where to get a beta image? Torrent? Anything? シ [04:07] No idea. === chriadam is now known as chriadam|away === SkavenXXI-[OFF] is now known as SkavenXXI === SkavenXXI is now known as SkavenXXI-[OFF] === SkavenXXI-[OFF] is now known as SkavenXXI === fcrochik_ is now known as fcrochik__ === fcrochik__ is now known as fcrochik === ckpringle_ is now known as ckpringle === gatox is now known as gatox_lunch === SkavenXXI is now known as SkavenXXI-[OFF] === gatox_lunch is now known as gatox === Lexmazter_ is now known as Lexmazter [22:18] do we think October is accurate/realistic? http://linux.slashdot.org/story/13/02/06/217237/ubuntu-smartphone-shipping-in-october [22:21] AlanBell: I'd wager only canonical knows how far their system is... I don't think it's impossible. [22:21] ajalkane: well of course, but the october date is apparently a quote from an interview with sabdfl [22:22] The link you gave claims it's from mister Shuttleworth [22:22] !sabdfl [22:22] Mark "sabdfl" Shuttleworth is our favourite cosmonaut, the founder of Canonical and the primary driver behind Ubuntu. You can find pieces of his thinking at http://www.markshuttleworth.com [22:22] ah I see... he should know shouldn't he :P [22:23] you would think, but he isn't infalable :) [22:23] Judging by that comment he's confident the core of Ubuntu will be ready by that time, with the resources of Canonical [22:24] As we know, many of the "core" apps are done community. This implies that whatever is ready by the community by that time gets included, and rest will become available later as updates. [22:25] * don by [22:25] * done by [22:25] yeah, 13.10 seems optimistic for that [22:25] Well it all depends how rapidly the community gets stuff done. [22:27] In mobile space things move rapidly so I hope there is some urgency in getting things into usable shape, and refinements are done later. Basic prioritizing. [22:27] I hope things are done properly instead [22:28] These are two separate issues. You can do things properly but without everything including kitchen sink. And you can try to do everything including kitchen sink improperly. [23:04] wonder if it is two english speaking markets [23:05] or if the translations story is fully baked, I guess QML has translations built in at some level [23:09] Qt has it's own localization system [23:09] But Ubuntu uses the GNU gettext
