yofel_soee: completely removing kde should work by removing libkdecore508:33
shadeslayerwhy does kubotu keep echo'ing that bug08:33
yofel_soee: what release are you on?08:35

shadeslayeron quantal08:36
shadeslayerany reports like that in Kubuntu?08:36
soeeyofel, quantal, i had to remove .config and .kde to make oxygen them work here on my work machine08:36
yofelwth08:36
soeebut i cant sun systemsettings on my user  account08:36
Riddellshadeslayer: not heard of any, what sort of issue?08:36

yofelfun08:39
shadeslayerAdityab: ^ Potentially cause of your bug08:39
shadeslayerRiddell: I /think/ it might be because something was not published and the user ran apt-get update a bit too soon08:42
Riddellshadeslayer: that forum doesn't mention kmahjongg08:43
Riddellshadeslayer: they're installing from kubuntu-ppa/backports onto quantal presumably?08:47
shadeslayerthe kubuntu-ppa/backports repo is enabled for Netrunner by default afaik08:48
Riddellyeah, so we need to be careful to double check what goes in there, netrunner users are not the sort who will take kindly to being used as guinea pigs08:51
shadeslayertrue, nor will Kubuntu users08:51
Riddellbut I'm not sure what can be changed, it was checked and the probably was probably just archive scew during copying08:51

shadeslayeryeah, that's what I'm thinking as well08:51

smartboyhwHey Riddell 08:54
Riddellmorning smartboyhw 08:54
smartboyhwRiddell, good now I will copy the calligra backport from the experimental PPA to backports PPA 08:55
smartboyhwThe build finished 11 min ago08:55
smartboyhwdamn the amd64 build didn't start  (LOL)08:56

Riddellthat all needs tested09:00
smartboyhwRiddell, I know. Will be testing it09:01

smartboyhwYes it works!!!!09:02

Riddellsmartboyhw: oh cools09:05
Riddellsmartboyhw: you can install to a chroot and run it from there with a little magic09:05
Riddellyou can also run it from an ec2 over vnc09:05
smartboyhwRiddell, at the same time I could test a 12.04.2 live image!09:05

yofelhm, talking about userconfig11:52
yofelScottK: I get http://paste.kde.org/667400 even with python 3.3 in raring. PyKDE bug?11:53
yofelthe broken part is the return value of ki18n11:54
yofelor it's ki18n crashing. As "aboutdata.addAuthor(ki18n("Sebastian Kügler".encode('UTF-8')), ki18n("Developer"), "sebas@kde.org", "http://vizZzion.org")" works fine11:54
Riddellyou'd have thought python 3 would put an end to that nonsense11:56
yofelwell. As long as you use python string it works fine. But removing the ki18n call gives this: http://paste.kde.org/66740611:57
yofelso this is really mostly pykde's fault11:58
BluesKajok , my bug has already been reported 67 times , no need for further duplication . bug #24783011:59
ubottubug 247830 in buglog-data "[testbug] auto-created by python-launchpad-bugs" [Undecided,Invalid] https://launchpad.net/bugs/24783011:59

yofelhm. I don't get a crash. But that the module doesn't work is known12:00
yofelif someone wants to try the quick-and-dirty py3 port of userconfig it's here: lp:~yofel/+junk/userconfig-kde4-python312:01
yofelit doesn't quite work though12:02
BluesKajyofel, my situation has the use rmanagement dialog error about orphaned  KCM  modules and userconfig/userconfig.py 12:04
yofelBluesKaj: yeah, that's about what you should see12:05
yofelit's trying to call the python3 version of userconfig - which doesn't exist12:05
BluesKajso no point in reporting it further12:05
yofelBluesKaj: what should work is simply running "kdesudo python /usr/share/kde4/apps/userconfig/userconfig.py" in krunner. Ignore the crash on exit. (I hope that doesn't affect the functionality)12:07
BluesKajyofel, no difference , same error on user management 12:10
yofelhm12:10
BluesKajnot that i need it atm , guess i could always add a user or group in the terminal 12:11
BluesKajactually I'm quite happy with the way 13.04 is running so far 12:17
yofelyay12:28
yofelafter removing QVariant's lp:~yofel/+junk/userconfig-kde4-python3 is kinda usable12:28
yofelwell, not really, but it starts at least12:38

tazzlol for a second their i read raring as raging.16:02
tazz oxygen-fonts to kubuntu is raging16:02
smartboyhwLOL16:05
shadeslayerturns out you also read in as is16:09
EvpokSince I updated to raring Wednesday, my touchpad is behaving as per the default config instead f my own and  the "Touchpad" kcm module won't load. Anyone else has this kind of issues?16:32
shadeslayersynaptiks is broken16:32
shadeslayerEvpok: you want to run synaptiks from krunner or a terminal16:33
shadeslayerand then keep it running16:33
shadeslayerlet me rephrase part of that sentence, the synaptiks kcm accessed via systemsettings is broken16:33
EvpokOh, sweet, thanks you16:34
Evpoksomething else: the keyboard layout loading is behaving strangely. I use a custom /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/fr. It used to be loaded a startup before raring. Now at startup, the default fr symbol file is used instead. When I `setxkbmap fr -variant oss`, my custom file comes back, but it blocks the keyboard layout applet in the system tray.16:39
shadeslayerhmm ... possibly #ubuntu-x would know more16:41
Evpokshadeslayer: Okay, thanks, I'll ask there. I wondered if it could be related to xcb16:46
shadeslayerno idea :)16:46

ovidiu-florinhello world, in the latest mail on the kubuntu-deve mail list Testers are required for 12.04.2 , I went to http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/254/builds and started downloading Kubuntu Desktop i386. What exactly should I test? I want to help.20:33
ovidiu-florinthis page oppened up http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/254/builds/37154/testcases I logged in20:34
ovidiu-florinI'll try to install this in Virtual Box20:34
ovidiu-florinsince I don't have any spare hardware at hand20:34
ScottKovidiu-florin: Each of those has a test case/procedure that goes with it.  That's what we need tested.20:34
ScottKVirtual box testing is fine.20:34
ScottKThanks for showing up to help.20:35
ovidiu-florinI've been using Kubuntu for quite a while now.. 20:35
ovidiu-florinat leas I could help by testing new stuff :D20:36
ovidiu-florinI went for the install (entire disk), It seems to work (not finished yet) only a bit slow, probabily due to the low specs I gave to the VM20:52
ovidiu-florinis this website done using drupal?20:53
ovidiu-florinit look's like it is20:53
ovidiu-florinwhat are the minimum requirements for Kubuntu 12.04?20:56
ScottKRiddell: ^^^?21:07
ScottKIt will run in 1GB of ram, but slowly.  I'm not sure what the actual minimum is.21:08
ovidiu-florinfinished the installation, rebooting, now21:11
ovidiu-florinthere's a problem on http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/Install/DesktopWhole on action 9 step 2. the arrows exist only in ubuntu, not in kubuntu21:13
ovidiu-florinand it should be "sides" instead of "side"21:14
afiestasAnybody with webcam and Quantal can execute the following command: http://paste.kde.org/  ?21:14
afiestasif it works (you are able to see something) restart it a few times21:14
ovidiu-florinafiestas: blank link21:14
ovidiu-florinafiestas: submit your paste, then send the url21:15
afiestasups21:15
afiestashttp://paste.kde.org/667832/21:15
ovidiu-florinScottK: the installation has finished, everything is ok. Only one quoestion: I did not boot into live cd and then install, I started the installation directly. Is that an issue?21:17
ScottKovidiu-florin: No.  There's only one test case that requires live install.21:17
ScottKFigure out which of the test cases matches the way you installed it and then verify the system works.21:17
ovidiu-florinI follwed the "Installation (entire disk)" but I haven't started exactly as mentioned in http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/Install/DesktopWhole21:19
ovidiu-florinI did not boot into a live session21:19
ovidiu-florinshould I reinstall and do it like that?21:20
ovidiu-florinScottK: ^21:22
ScottKovidiu-florin: There is a separate test case for running the live session.  What I would do is run the live session test and then take credit for both.  I don't think you need to redo that one.21:23
ovidiu-florinScottK: There is only one entire disk case. in the test case information of that case it specifies that the installation must be started from the live session (this is tipical in Ubuntu from what I remember, not in Kubuntu). I did not boot into the live session and then started the install. I started the install directly. is this an issue? can I submit my report like this?21:26
ScottKovidiu-florin: As long as you also make sure the live session works, I think it's fine.21:27
ovidiu-florinScottK: in that case I'll redo the install21:27
ScottKUp to you, but I think it's overkill.21:28
ScottKBetter you spend the time on one of the other test cases, IMO.  Maybe after they are all done, come back to that one.21:28
ovidiu-florinwell this one worked21:28
ovidiu-florinI'll test the live disk now and see idf the installer starts21:29
ovidiu-florinbut will not perform the reinstall21:29
ovidiu-florinand then continue testing the live session21:29
ovidiu-florinI gave it more RAM, for better performance21:30
ovidiu-florinScottK: Hardware profile?21:33
ScottKI usually leave that blank.21:34
ScottKIt's only relevant if you find some hardware specific bug.21:34
ovidiu-florinaha, ok21:34
ovidiu-florinyeeeeey, I did something usefull today :D21:35
ScottKISO testing is something we definitely need more help with, so it is much appreciated.21:36
ovidiu-florinthe live session does not heve the folder widget by default ?21:36
ovidiu-florinwhat changed?21:37
ovidiu-florinScottK: the autoresize option does not exist21:38
ScottKWhat options do you have?21:39
ovidiu-florinfull disk and manual21:39
ovidiu-florinis that because there is no free space?21:39
ScottKPossibly.21:40
ovidiu-florinthe previous installation was full disk21:40
ovidiu-florinis this a bug?21:40
ovidiu-florinor a feature?21:40
ScottKHow much hd space did you allow for the vm?21:40
ovidiu-florin8GB21:40
ovidiu-florinand the Kubuntu installer says that the HDD has 8.6GB21:41
ScottKThat should be enough for it to show up.21:41
ScottKYou didn't do full disk encryption did you?21:41
ovidiu-florinis there such an option in the 12.04 installer?21:41
ovidiu-florinI thought that was introduced onli in 12.1021:42
ovidiu-florinonly*21:42
ovidiu-florinwhere can I search through the kubuntu bugs?21:48
ScottKovidiu-florin: You're right.  That was in 12.10.21:51
ovidiu-florinI need to specify a bug number with this issue21:51
ovidiu-florinThe resize option is not available. On the 8GB Virtual HDD there is an Kubuntu 12.04 installed with a 1.1GB swap partition at the end and the rest a 7.5GB ext4 partition.21:51
ScottKAh.21:52
ScottKThe 7.5 may not be quite enough.21:52
ScottKCan you make it a 10GB HD and try again?  I think the installer wants 4.21:52
ovidiu-florinok21:53
ScottKKubuntu bugs on in Launchpad the same a Ubuntu ones.21:53
ovidiu-florinbut it uses a different installer21:53
ScottKNo.22:00
ScottKDifferent frontend, but all the non-U/I parts are the same.22:01
ovidiu-florinthis is going to take longer than expected, I have to go now.22:01
ovidiu-florinthank you ScottK 22:01
ScottKSee you later.22:01
ScottKThanks for testing.22:01
