[01:16] mhall119: I have about 999999 unread messages... :p [01:24] ctrl+a delete [01:25] if any of them are important, they will send another email. [01:49] JanC: they couldn't all be legit [01:50] spam or something? [01:54] mailing lists mostly ☺ [01:55] and that number is mostly a guess, of course [01:56] Hello. I'm curious if for instance GoDaddy.com has grabbed ubuntu. , is just parking it and waiting for bids, and I want to use it, does my LoCo have some ground to stand on to have it released without being extorted? [01:57] * genii-around makes some coffee and settles in [02:42] jono: http://ubuntuone.com/43CVaeus0hqsZmd8DHvs1q [02:42] jono: ^ bbqpad images optimized and jonobacon.org logo optimized [06:46] good morning all [06:47] Hello dpm [06:47] hey dpm! [06:47] morning smartboyhw and JoseeAntonioR :) [06:47] Hey JoseeAntonioR [06:48] hey, smartboyhw! ready for your session later on? [06:48] JoseeAntonioR, yep [06:48] smartboyhw: I'll be there in case you need help (me just has to wake up at 8am) [06:49] LOL [07:59] good morning [08:00] hey, dholbach! [08:00] hey JoseeAntonioR [08:00] how are you? [08:04] doing well - just went for a run this morning and feel a little bit more awake than usual :) [08:04] how about yourself? [08:04] pretty good, wanting to go on stage again [08:05] which stage? :) [08:06] like, UDS closing party's stage, for karaoke? :P [08:07] haha, ok :) [08:07] I thought you meant being on ubuntu-on-air again :) [08:07] maybe we should have an ubuntuonair karaoke session! [08:08] last marathon we had DJ'ing, this time we're having karaoke [08:08] yeah and people would donate for us to stop it! :) [08:09] haha, maybe you'll get more donations than before [08:10] especially if we do the chicken dance! [08:10] yeah, totally :) [08:11] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UV3kRV46Zs [08:11] everybody at home, stand up and join us! [08:29] smartboyhw: hey, I'm going to sleep now but will be back 8-10 mins before your session, please make sure to join #ubuntu-classroom, #ubuntu-classroom-chat and #ubuntu-classroom-backstage for it :) [08:29] oh wait, it's tomorrow [08:29] blargh [08:31] so it's actually on 28 and a half hours [08:36] dholbach: question, the packaging guide is generated by a script, or is it manually generated? [08:36] script [08:36] we use sphinx (which makes use of restructured text) [08:37] dholbach: in that script, can the font size be changed? I was thinking on doing a booklet with it, but the font size would be too small [08:37] like, an actual printed booklet [08:39] yes, I would think so [08:39] ok, /me checks if he can find it [08:39] in the CSS of the theme you could just change it [08:39] sphinx-quickstart should get you a project to start with [08:40] and then do "make html" [08:46] dholbach: would that create the pdf? [08:47] or how do you get those done? [08:47] no [08:47] "make latexpdf" I think [08:47] morning all [08:47] or just type 'make' and it'll give you a long list of what it can do [08:47] hey popey [08:47] hey, popey! [08:47] dholbach: yeah, that was the one [09:04] dholbach: script ended up with 'there were undefined references' [09:05] hum, I'm not sure what that might be [09:06] can you try: sudo apt-get build-dep ubuntu-packaging-guide [09:06] it will install all the packages which are required to build the packaging guide [09:06] maybe you're just missing one or two of them [09:08] yeah, I'll try that later [09:08] ok cool [09:09] I'm thinking I may take some printed copies of the latest version if I get to go to the UDS [09:10] cool [09:10] * dholbach hugs JoseeAntonioR [09:11] * JoseeAntonioR hugs dholbach back [10:28] JoseeAntonioR, my session is tmrnot today (look at the calendar):P [14:45] dholbach: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2DJp-rM09g [15:41] BLAMMO [15:41] * jcastro kills 3 work items in one shot. [15:41] that took a while ... listening to them scream in pain was worth it. [15:42] * popey starts a game in steam to make sure his desktop doesn't overheat [15:42] * popey expects snarky tweets and G+ posts from jcastro about co-workers shirking [15:42] heh [15:42] ☺ [15:43] steam has been working great for me lately [15:43] I just need more strategy games [15:43] my SSD keeps powering down in mid game [15:43] did a firmware update on it (which was uber scary) [15:44] oh, I needed to do that to my first gen intel ssd a few years ago [15:44] it certainly is [15:44] ooh, close to 100 games listed for Linux in steam now [15:44] (be nice if at least half of them actually worked) :D [15:44] yeah [15:44] good to see so many people buying them too [15:44] I like when it tells you when your friends buy new games [15:45] oh, does it? [15:45] didnt know that [15:45] yeah [15:45] "popey just got "English Avengers II: The mourning!" or whatnot. [15:45] is that an option [15:45] dunno [15:45] buy me a game and we'll see ;) [15:46] "Jorge has gifted Popey 'Downton Abbey: The game'" [15:47] whoa new games [15:47] \o/ anomaly! [15:47] I was getting sick of all this turn based stuff [15:48] popey: I don't care what anybody says and I know it's all anti-UNIX, but I love having it all neatrly bundled in ~ and updating on its own. [15:54] Hello, I asked here yesterday about this issue but perhaps there may be someone here now that might know... eg: As one of the Canadian LoCo team I'd like to use ubuntu.ca for our official site ( pending Community Council approval if needed ), but it looks like GoDaddy.com registered it in April 2005 and has been sitting on it ever since. The domain name dispute policy here is such that if " "Registrant’s dot-ca domain name is [15:54] Confusingly Similar to a Mark in which the Complainant had Rights prior to the date of registration of the domain name and continues to have such Rights". I feel that we have a good case to get them to release it to us if we get some kind of official backing, perhaps from Legal or a letter from the brick-and-mortar Canonical office in Montreal. [15:54] Just trying to find which direction to proceed at this point. [15:54] have you mailed the trademarks address? [15:55] I would think that wouldn't be a problem: https://forms.canonical.com/trademark/ [15:57] omg [15:57] pleia2: \o/ [15:57] the downtime for the forums upgrade has been scheduled [15:57] THIS IS HAPPENING FOLKS. [15:59] genii-around: why do you want ubuntu.ca? [15:59] the standard is ubuntu-XX.org [15:59] jcastro: I read the trademarks page at Canonical and it seems from that our intended use as a LoCo is valid pending Community Council approval. .. Is there a particular email to send them a message regarding this? [15:59] I think you're supposed to use that form? [16:00] I'd speak to the loco council [16:01] looks like you already have http://ubuntu-ca.org/ ? [16:01] popey: Well, for me the issue is more that GoDaddy seems to be holding the domain hostage in a way. [16:02] lots of domains were registered through godaddy back in the day [16:04] jcastro, good [16:04] aloha [16:05] genii-around: in fact someone had it before Ubuntu even existed, back in 2003 [16:05] same with ubuntu.ie [16:05] in fact the quebeq loco had it for a while in 2006 [16:06] and they let it lapse by the look of it [16:07] so I would file an RT if you absolutely must have it, but I wouldn't assume that godaddy did anything bad here, they just kept hold of the domain when someone else let it lapse [16:09] but I wouldn't point ubuntu.ca and ubuntu-ca.org at the same place [16:09] that will actively harm your google juice [16:09] popey: It looks like it was registered a few weeks after Hoary release, so perhaps this was the -qc team. At the moment it appears though that GoDaddy has it. [16:09] it was the qc team [16:09] http://web.archive.org/web/20060203021753/http://ubuntu.ca/en/ [16:09] ^^ [17:08] jcastro: yay! \o/ [17:14] * genii-around makes more coffee [17:42] * dholbach goes and calls it a day - see you all tomorrow [18:09] popey: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ok6LbV6bqaE [19:06] jono: locking your q&a for tomorrow at 11 pacific? [19:07] JoseeAntonioR, yuuuuup [19:07] :-) [19:07] great then [19:27] quick lunch [19:27] brb [20:21] mhall119, hey [20:21] can we have a quick call? [20:21] sure [20:22] mhall119, invite sent [20:23] I'll be there as soon as G+ decides to load the page === hggdh_ is now known as hggdh [20:44] jcastro: +1 for forums happening :) [21:15] Who is organizing Ubuntu participation in GSoC this year? [21:17] I think dholbach usually does that [21:21] I owe that guy a hug [21:29] he owes me a hug [21:53] komputes: hug JoseeAntonioR and we'll call it even :) [21:54] Hug Economics 101 [21:56] so GSoC was last done in 2010 by ubuntu? [21:58] jono: I am all set [21:58] jcastro, cool, one sec [21:58] no G+ in invite this time for some reason [22:00] jcastro, added it
