efmhi all is there going to be something going on for the global-jam in colorado?18:44
FunnyLookinHatefm, I haven't heard of anything - but you should post to the mailing list to see if there is any other buy-in18:45
FunnyLookinHatSomething might just come about at the last minute  :)18:45
efmI'm not on the mailing list FunnyLookinHat18:45
FunnyLookinHatWell you should be!18:45
efmyeah, I know18:46
FunnyLookinHatThat's where a majority of our communication takes place - the IRC channel is basically just a placeholder18:46
ToyKeeperFunny, that's how the LCDproc project works too...  its IRC channel generally has nothing to do with the project, and only the mailing list is really useful.22:11
ToyKeeperIt's weird when people ask me about it though, since I haven't been involved in that project for like a decade.22:11
FunnyLookinHatheh]22:11
Cheri703FunnyLookinHat: that is pretty much the opposite of u-ohio :) we're active on IRC and not the mailing list.22:17
Cheri703ToyKeeper: are you the same person who comes in to U-Women on occasion? If not, very similar name22:17
ToyKeeperYup, that's me.22:18
ToyKeeperI just ... er, haven't been on freenode much lately.22:18
Cheri703I met you in Budapest :) I played SET in the hallway with you22:18
ToyKeeperOh, hi!  :)22:18
Cheri703I am going to be moving to Denver in June :)22:19
ToyKeeperI have a hard time keeping up with ~10 chat networks, each with several channels.22:19
Cheri703makes sense :)22:19
ToyKeeperI remembered to come back here because Steam launched yesterday for Linux and I needed a public network where I could talk to Valve to help them publish it.22:22
FunnyLookinHatheh22:23
ToyKeeperKinda weird...  the person handling that is a guy I used to run into a lot back in the 90s when I was doing a lot of graphics algorithms.  Haven't talked to him in a decade.22:23
ToyKeeperIt's his fault my code ended up in a bunch of free and commercial projects.  Like, I was rather surprised when I bought a PS2 Game Shark and saw my own water simulation running behind the menus.22:24
efmCheri703: are you coming to Colorado for a job?23:49
efmthat's cool Toykeeper, some parts of the net are a really small tow23:49
efmn23:49
Cheri703efm: I have a job that lets me work from anywhere, so I'm taking advantage of that and moving somewhere new and more interesting :) Right now I live in a small town in ohio and I hate it. I moved here from Columbus, and I'm ready to a. get out of ohio, b. get back to civilization, and c. be done with humid summers23:55
efmCheri703: then colorado would fit. Why did you pick Denver, rather than Boulder or Fort Collins?23:55
* efm thinks Fort Collins is rather nice23:56
Cheri703boulder is more expensive cost of living (from what I understand) and Denver had a few things I was interested in. :) Also very bike friendly. I'm car-free, so public transit and bike trails and such are nice23:56
Cheri703I'm already having sticker shock, new place will be >2x as much as current place, going from smallish 2 bedroom house with a garage and yard to a 1 bd apartment >_<23:57
efmit's getting a lot easier to live without a car.23:57
efmthat amount of space change will be a good reason to get rid of things.23:57
Cheri703oh, for sure23:57
* efm has had good success with dropping possessions this year23:58
Cheri703I'm only taking like 2-3 furniture items, and those all collapse to pretty small amounts of space. I'm driving my stuff out in a uhaul, and goal is to get the smallest truck possible. no point in moving stuff that I don't really like or doesn't really meet my needs anyway :)23:58
