LinuxephusGreetings gentlemen, ladies. Question: Is there a way to automatically download & install Dev., Debug, and Doc. packages along with the packages being installed upon the system?21:36
shadeslayerLinuxephus: mostly the convention is to have foo-dbg for packages21:37
shadeslayerfor eg. kdelibs5-dbg21:37
shadeslayerLinuxephus: but that may not always be true21:38
shadeslayerso you're going to have to narrow down the question a bit :)21:38
LinuxephusRecently switching back to Kubuntu 12.04LTS from LinuxMint after watching several fellow Linux'ers on Google Hangout who're Developers for KDE is why I'm asking.21:38
shadeslayerI see21:38
shadeslayerand you'd like to compile stuff?21:38
LinuxephusNo. I'd like to somehow automatically be able to install the Dev. packages along with whatever package I'm installing thru Muon. Or is this a matter where I'd have to manually install the Dev. package that comes with the regular package?21:40
LinuxephusExample: Amarok, Amarok-debug, Amarok-Dev., etc.21:41
=== Guest46739 is now known as FabianBu
LinuxephusOops. closed the wrong window.21:43
Linuxephusshadeslayer: So, is there a way I can do this with-out manually having to install each (example: Amarok, Amarok-dev.) the Dev. package that comes with each package?21:51
shadeslayerLinuxephus: well ... conventional debian packaging says split out dev, dbg and standard binaries21:51
shadeslayerso you can't install it automatically21:51
shadeslayerand you'll have to install the -dev and dbg separately21:52
shadeslayeramarok doesn't have -dev packages btw21:52
LinuxephusUnfortunately that means I'll to install each manually then doesn't it? I was hoping what you stated wasn't actually the case.21:52
shadeslayeryeah21:52
LinuxephusWell, you know what I meant with the example for other packaged that have that option.21:53
shadeslayerLinuxephus: though you could isntall Project Neon21:53
LinuxephusEnlighten me.21:53
shadeslayerit instals binaries and headers and has a separate -dbg package21:53
shadeslayerjust 2 binaries for each source21:53
shadeslayerproject-neon-foo and project-neon-foo-dbg21:54
shadeslayerinstalls KDE git into a separate dir, so you can run stable KDE and a unstable KDE at the same time21:54
LinuxephusI'm assuming that'll be installable thru Muon?21:54
shadeslayersure21:54
shadeslayeryou just need to add the ppa21:54
shadeslayerhttp://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started/Using_Project_Neon_to_contribute_to_KDE21:54
shadeslayerthough note that this is unstable KDE from git21:55
shadeslayerso expect crashes21:55
shadeslayerand report them :P21:55
LinuxephusAlright. My thanks. I'll peruse it and have a go at it.21:55
shadeslayeror if you're scared of having unstable packages21:55
shadeslayerwe have kvm/vbox images21:55
shadeslayerhttp://kubuntu.s3.amazonaws.com/list.html?sort=lastmod&sortdir=desc21:56
LinuxephusI'll add the PPA and "roughneck" it so to speak. I do alot of custom installs on my own system. So "unstable" isn't something I'm too concerned about overly much.21:56
shadeslayerawesome :D21:57
shadeslayerwe hang out in #project-neon if you need help21:57
