tgm4883_doing an emergency upgrade to an SSD drive on my backend :(05:11
tgm4883_rhpot1991, superm1 any super secret ideas to get data from a drive that won't spin up?05:18
rhpot1991tgm4883_: put it in the freezer05:20
tgm4883_rhpot1991, I've thought about that05:20
tgm4883_can i Just wrap it in saran wrap?05:20
rhpot1991I think thats normally for a bad head and not for lack of spinning though05:20
rhpot1991I think I ziplock baggied it to keep moisture out05:21
tgm4883_I've heard for stuck bearings05:21
* tgm4883_ doesn't have ziplocks :/05:21
rhpot1991http://lifehacker.com/5515337/save-a-failed-hard-drive-in-your-freezer-redux05:21
rhpot1991tgm4883: go get some?05:22
rhpot1991or don't try to save data until you do05:22
tgm4883_yea I'm going to see if I have a recent DB backup05:22
tgm4883_otherwise I'll go get some05:22
rhpot1991I normally just go to my last db backup and don't worry about the recordings05:23
tgm4883_rhpot1991, I think my last db backup is from a long time ago :/05:23
tgm4883_all my recordings are on my NAS, so they are fine05:24
rhpot1991I don't remember fzero being this hard05:24
tgm4883_\o/05:25
tgm4883_mythconverg-1307-20130216074601.sql.gz05:25
tgm4883_that will work for me :)05:25
superm1yeah freezer is the only trick i know of05:26
superm1emergency upgrade... don't like the sounds of that05:27
rhpot1991shark attacks are good for you05:27
rhpot1991I should probably make things go to my nas05:27
rhpot1991before I have to deal with all of that again05:27
tgm4883_superm1, yea, when I disconnected this morning at 10:15, it's because my backend died05:27
tgm4883_my backend had my ZNC on it05:28
superm1coincidentally shortly after you stopped using bip05:28
superm1i think it's a sign05:28
tgm4883_heh05:28
tgm4883_probably05:28
tgm4883_TO THE CLOUD!05:28
rhpot1991tgm4883_: I can get ZNC on my server05:28
tgm4883_rhpot1991, I think there is a ZNC module for my NAS05:28
tgm4883_I'll say one thing, this is much faster with and SSD :)05:29
rhpot1991ya, I've gone to ssd in all of my boxes05:29
rhpot1991small ones in my mythtv related ones, but does the job05:30
superm1how much faster will SSD die than HDD is my only worry with going SSD05:30
superm1especially with something running all the time like a backend?05:30
tgm4883_superm1, 100,000 writes05:30
rhpot1991having a hard time getting all of my /home onto my the ssd in my main box though05:30
rhpot1991steam is like 30gb and its only a 120gb drive05:30
tgm4883_superm1, I'm going to disable logging to file, so the only thing doing a bunch of writes will be the DB05:30
tgm4883_I figure 100,000 writes will get me to the next point I'll want to upgrade anyway05:31
rhpot1991superm1: I paid 66 for 2 30gb ones05:33
rhpot1991disposable at that price05:33
superm1true05:33
rhpot1991superm1: you are a huge fan of assasin's creed right?05:33
rhpot1991ubisoft wii u games 30% off and I get some percentage back from nintendo05:33
rhpot1991AC3 is one of them05:33
superm1rhpot1991: yeah05:34
superm1AC3 is great05:34
rhpot1991worth $42?05:34
superm1well only if you're gonna play it soon05:35
rhpot1991or should I wait and find it cheaper later05:35
superm1given you have a back log already05:35
rhpot1991yep05:35
rhpot1991on top of all of the ones I got for giftmas/birthday05:35
dmfreymytharchive fails because M2VRequantiser can't be found.  What is M2VRequantiser and where can I find it?14:07
dmfreynever mind, i found it14:51
superm1dmfrey: what version were you on that you got the error15:49
superm1and how was it erroring?15:49
superm1an APT error (i hope not... if so we need to get m2vrequantiser in the PPA I guess)15:49
dmfreysuperm1, i am on .26 running on 12.0415:54
superm1and where did it error?15:54
superm1apt updates?15:54
dmfreyit is not available in any repo at this point15:54
dmfreywhen trying to run M2VRequantiser15:55
dmfreyall updates are applied15:55
dmfreyhad to download source and build15:55
dmfreyit is running now, so will see how it goes15:55
dmfreyi am also getting weird permission errors in the mytharchive/temp dir15:56
superm1so the apt update complained?15:56
dmfreyno15:56
dmfreyit is not found anywhere in apt to install15:56
superm1oh when running mytharchive it complained?15:56
dmfreyyes15:56
dmfreysaid command not found15:56
superm1i'm asking because made a change yesterday that it's a recommends15:56
superm1but it shouldn't have made apt errors15:56
dmfreyand tried searching the system to find it but nothing was on there15:56
superm1just coincidental that you were mentioning it missing then15:56
superm1it's available in quantal and raring15:57
dmfreyi need to run to a hockey game, i will be back later and can discuss it then15:57
dmfreyoh, ok, i haven't upgraded to them yet15:57
superm1i'll upload it to our PPA for 0.26 and if it builds right request a backport15:57
kmentatHas anyone had any problems with 0-byte recordings?21:10
kmentatI just set up my Mythbuntu 12.04 system and it's pulling empty files from my HVR-950Q.21:11
gedakckmentat:  Have you tried watching tv live through mythtv to confirm the TV-capture card is working?21:27
kichigaiOops, I guess I disappeared for too long. Does anyone know about MythTV making 0-byte recordings? I'm using a Hauppauge HVR-950Q with a Core 2 Duo, running Mythbuntu 12.04 64-bit in a fairly stock set-up (it's a fresh install, but I had to compile a new media_build to get the card to work).23:50
kichigaiLive TV works fine, the scheduler works fine, I will be told that a recording is in progress when it should be, it's just recordings.23:51
kichigaiThis http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1687846&page=8 seems to suggest it may be kernel related, so I'm custom baking a 3.79, but I'm wondering if there are any other possibilities I should be looking out for, just in case23:58
kichigaiErr, 3.7.9, not 3.79.23:59
