[05:11] doing an emergency upgrade to an SSD drive on my backend :( [05:18] rhpot1991, superm1 any super secret ideas to get data from a drive that won't spin up? [05:20] tgm4883_: put it in the freezer [05:20] rhpot1991, I've thought about that [05:20] can i Just wrap it in saran wrap? [05:20] I think thats normally for a bad head and not for lack of spinning though [05:21] I think I ziplock baggied it to keep moisture out [05:21] I've heard for stuck bearings [05:21] * tgm4883_ doesn't have ziplocks :/ [05:21] http://lifehacker.com/5515337/save-a-failed-hard-drive-in-your-freezer-redux [05:22] tgm4883: go get some? [05:22] or don't try to save data until you do [05:22] yea I'm going to see if I have a recent DB backup [05:22] otherwise I'll go get some [05:23] I normally just go to my last db backup and don't worry about the recordings [05:23] rhpot1991, I think my last db backup is from a long time ago :/ [05:24] all my recordings are on my NAS, so they are fine [05:24] I don't remember fzero being this hard [05:25] \o/ [05:25] mythconverg-1307-20130216074601.sql.gz [05:25] that will work for me :) [05:26] yeah freezer is the only trick i know of [05:27] emergency upgrade... don't like the sounds of that [05:27] shark attacks are good for you [05:27] I should probably make things go to my nas [05:27] before I have to deal with all of that again [05:27] superm1, yea, when I disconnected this morning at 10:15, it's because my backend died [05:28] my backend had my ZNC on it [05:28] coincidentally shortly after you stopped using bip [05:28] i think it's a sign [05:28] heh [05:28] probably [05:28] TO THE CLOUD! [05:28] tgm4883_: I can get ZNC on my server [05:28] rhpot1991, I think there is a ZNC module for my NAS [05:29] I'll say one thing, this is much faster with and SSD :) [05:29] ya, I've gone to ssd in all of my boxes [05:30] small ones in my mythtv related ones, but does the job [05:30] how much faster will SSD die than HDD is my only worry with going SSD [05:30] especially with something running all the time like a backend? [05:30] superm1, 100,000 writes [05:30] having a hard time getting all of my /home onto my the ssd in my main box though [05:30] steam is like 30gb and its only a 120gb drive [05:30] superm1, I'm going to disable logging to file, so the only thing doing a bunch of writes will be the DB [05:31] I figure 100,000 writes will get me to the next point I'll want to upgrade anyway [05:33] superm1: I paid 66 for 2 30gb ones [05:33] disposable at that price [05:33] true [05:33] superm1: you are a huge fan of assasin's creed right? [05:33] ubisoft wii u games 30% off and I get some percentage back from nintendo [05:33] AC3 is one of them [05:34] rhpot1991: yeah [05:34] AC3 is great [05:34] worth $42? [05:35] well only if you're gonna play it soon [05:35] or should I wait and find it cheaper later [05:35] given you have a back log already [05:35] yep [05:35] on top of all of the ones I got for giftmas/birthday [14:07] mytharchive fails because M2VRequantiser can't be found. What is M2VRequantiser and where can I find it? [14:51] never mind, i found it [15:49] dmfrey: what version were you on that you got the error [15:49] and how was it erroring? [15:49] an APT error (i hope not... if so we need to get m2vrequantiser in the PPA I guess) [15:54] superm1, i am on .26 running on 12.04 [15:54] and where did it error? [15:54] apt updates? [15:54] it is not available in any repo at this point [15:55] when trying to run M2VRequantiser [15:55] all updates are applied [15:55] had to download source and build [15:55] it is running now, so will see how it goes [15:56] i am also getting weird permission errors in the mytharchive/temp dir [15:56] so the apt update complained? [15:56] no [15:56] it is not found anywhere in apt to install [15:56] oh when running mytharchive it complained? [15:56] yes [15:56] said command not found [15:56] i'm asking because made a change yesterday that it's a recommends [15:56] but it shouldn't have made apt errors [15:56] and tried searching the system to find it but nothing was on there [15:56] just coincidental that you were mentioning it missing then [15:57] it's available in quantal and raring [15:57] i need to run to a hockey game, i will be back later and can discuss it then [15:57] oh, ok, i haven't upgraded to them yet [15:57] i'll upload it to our PPA for 0.26 and if it builds right request a backport [21:10] Has anyone had any problems with 0-byte recordings? [21:11] I just set up my Mythbuntu 12.04 system and it's pulling empty files from my HVR-950Q. [21:27] kmentat: Have you tried watching tv live through mythtv to confirm the TV-capture card is working? [23:50] Oops, I guess I disappeared for too long. Does anyone know about MythTV making 0-byte recordings? I'm using a Hauppauge HVR-950Q with a Core 2 Duo, running Mythbuntu 12.04 64-bit in a fairly stock set-up (it's a fresh install, but I had to compile a new media_build to get the card to work). [23:51] Live TV works fine, the scheduler works fine, I will be told that a recording is in progress when it should be, it's just recordings. [23:58] This http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1687846&page=8 seems to suggest it may be kernel related, so I'm custom baking a 3.79, but I'm wondering if there are any other possibilities I should be looking out for, just in case [23:59] Err, 3.7.9, not 3.79.
