[00:06] hi [00:06] hello [00:06] anyone here [00:07] guys pardon me if this is a very naive question but is it possible to really have a desktop like the ones they show in movies and tv series [00:07] is it just aesthetically morphed or really existent ? [00:08] with the imagination the will and the energy what cannot be done cannot be done, other than that have fun [00:13] I created another usb with universal usb installer, but this one gives me a /casper/something not found error after the 'grub' thing [00:13] wait... [00:13] it's the desktop installer, not the alternate [00:13] whoops === Catbuntu is now known as Camel` [00:48] it seems my iso was corrupt after all [00:49] integrity check from the lubuntu booter [00:49] what tool can I use to check md5 integrity under windows? [00:49] md5summer.org has some [00:49] wait, I'll see [00:49] oh ok [00:51] !md5 [00:51] To verify your Ubuntu ISO image (or other files for which an MD5 checksum is provided), see http://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM or http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/answers/LQ_ISO/Checking_the_md5sum_in_Windows [00:53] I just managed to do it myself [00:54] and yes, md5 of my iso is wrong [00:55] ok :/ [00:55] I'll download it from direct download, the two previous ones were from torrent [00:56] nicfer: which version do you need? [00:57] 12.10 alternate [00:58] nicfer: the mirror that I host is quite quick for direct downloads, saves putting any strain on the ubuntu servers http://phillw.net/isos/ [00:58] it's on a 100 MB/s back bone and not too heavily used. [01:06] I had started already download from the ubuntu servers, at 38% right now [01:07] sorry [01:08] okies, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/GetLubuntu#Mirror_Sites has the mirror sites. Handy to know round about release time :) [01:09] The raring parts for 13.04 will start being uploaded as the beta testing starts. [01:09] can I use the downloaded iso and use it as a seed for torrents? [01:10] I mean for the official torrent chain [01:10] nicfer: once you have got the iso MD5'd as okay, you are more than welcome to torrent share it. [01:10] just add yourself to it. [01:15] looking at http://torrent.ubuntu.com:6969/ it seems lubuntu people prefer to use direct downloads :) [01:17] i like you [01:18] i like you lubuntu [01:24] cerebrate: our aim is to please those who use it :) [01:24] i want a different color scheme for lxde please :> [01:25] * cerebrate isn't used to nice treatment on irc :S [01:27] figgered it out :D [01:27] hooray [01:27] ;-; [01:39] how can I add my file to the torrent? [01:41] nicfer: have a read of https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BitTorrent [01:42] transmission is the regular system installed. [01:46] how can we cross all the gaps to make lubuntu as facile and intuitiveish as ubuntu? [03:08] in a way, intuitive spontaneous and creative according to each user's needs i guess [03:28] how do you increase panel size to accomodate more [03:28] stuff [03:30] belayed: satisfactory gap crossing [03:31] can lxde create a 2d array instead of a 1d array for quicklaunch? [03:43] belayed: satisfactory gap crossing === hateball_ is now known as hateball [10:32] cerebrate: did you get your multi-row launchbar working? [10:59] Hi. I have a question about the lxpanel, i run lubuntu 12.04.. I run two monitors in twinview with nvidas drivers 304.64 and it is like the desktop is a long stretched one even if, if i maximize a window it maximize to fill only one monitor.. the left namely. i would like to know if this is how it is in twinwiew.. or if one could make it so somehow that it can maximize in right monitor also and that there is seperated lxpanels for both monitors.. i have [12:10] Dii_Pundiih: if you drag the window onto the right monitor, you can maximize it there as well [12:11] i don't think you can have two complete lxpanels, one for each monitor - at least mine complained when I tried to start another one === IboS_ is now known as IboS [16:39] inductiveload yes :3 just had to modulate the parameters [16:40] in panel settings [17:01] excellent :-) [17:48] ok everything on my panel turned pretty much completely monotone [17:48] toggling edge position alleviated anomaly :D [18:52] alright now i need to set my startup sequence to disable my touchpad [19:24] i have a disability that prevents me from using a touchpad effectively, according to tentative experiment and experiance [19:26] i want it disabled from startup [19:26] but don't know scripting [19:26] except for cheating in games 8) === redtape-renegade is now known as redtape-AFK [20:49] hi again... [20:51] I'm having issues with usb booting [20:52] more specifically with the recording [20:55] I try to use various tools (linux live usb and dd mainly) but both result in corrupt boot drives [20:56] nicfer, what about unetbootln [20:57] it doesn't seem to have support for 12.10 alternate [20:57] you can just chose the iso file and then use to write to a usb disk [20:58] nicfer: have you checked the md5sum of the file you downloaded? [20:58] start up disk creator is for ubuntu, unetbootln can work with all iso files [20:58] gomiboy, good point [20:58] md5 of the iso is correct [21:00] ok [21:01] nicfer: what do you mean with corrupt drives? Starts to boot and then stops, doesn't boot at all or... [21:03] I go to the check disk integrity and it reports a bad .deb file === redtape-AFK is now known as redtape-renegade [21:04] gomiboy, something to look into http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ support for lubuntu [21:06] nicfer: always the same .deb or changes? [21:10] it varies if I use either linux live or dd [21:11] but the debs are the same for each program [21:14] nicfer: my guess is a broken usb drive... do you have another around to try? [21:44] i have a problem with lubunut for some reason the top of the screen looks like a little tiny bit is cut off [23:04] my skype seems broken... the skype window does not have a border... I 1st installed skype from skype.com, but after that I purged it and installed it from the canonical repository [23:04] any idea what is wrong?
