=== zequence_ is now known as zequence [17:22] Hello. Can I get a cloak for my nick launchpad.net/~arges ? Thanks [17:39] * Pici looks [17:41] * Pici waves his magic wand [17:52] hm? [17:52] Pici: ? [17:52] Myrtti: erry was waiting for a confirmation from the user [17:53] oh, right [17:53] er, s/user/arges/ [19:27] woo [19:30] Pici: thanks erry took care of it [19:30] arges: yep, I asked her to apply the cloak. [19:33] future reference, staff members who are on this channel when the requests are done, can usually respond quicker because they don't need to go to the user for the confirmation as they've already seen them ask. [19:33] but w/e [19:33] Myrtti: /me makes note [19:33] provided the people asking are identified to their accounts when we check them. [19:39] I suppose it is a little late now, but why not apply the cloak if you saw the request? [19:40] I was in the middle of cooking and figured that if things are rolling with erry, it's better to let her to finish it rather than me dabble with my mobile phone on the subject when it's more prone to errors [19:51] Logan_: do you happen to know of a wikimdia gc? [19:51] dungodung, Barras, and PeterSymonds are the Wikimedia GCs. [20:00] Hello. [20:00] Pici: ^ [20:08] AlanBell ^ [20:16] sorry, had a little impromptu meeting in my office, so I had to pay attentionm [20:16] correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't dual cloaking discouraged? [20:16] from freenode's perspective [20:17] (not the groups' perspective) [20:17] well, kinda [20:17] *blushes* [20:17] Barras: Would it be okay if we gave Logan_ an ubuntu/member/wikimedia.logan cloak? [20:20] Pici: Sure. [20:20] I see no problems for that. [20:20] Myrtti: Would you care to action that? [20:20] Logan_: is there a particular reason why you want a dual cloak? [20:21] To show that I'm still committed to Wikimedia? (/me shrugs) [20:22] Myrtti: Can you set the cloak please, you've the approval of both GCs here :) [20:37] ẅell I realise I'm a bad person to preach on the subject since I've got a dual cloak myself, but unless you've got a good reason - other than just 'I want it' - staff usually (should) decline requests for dual cloaks, unless the other cloak is for pdpc donations or freenode staff cloaks. [20:37] which is why i asked whether freenode discourages dual cloaks [20:37] since i ran into that issue setting up a dual cloak for a trekweb user, and since then i've said "no dual cloaks" for trekweb's cloaks. [20:38] :P [20:43] Myrtti: I'd like to show my commitment to FLOSS software/information in both areas, and I believe that Ubuntu and Wikimedia have similar goals in terms of openness and thus are compatible with each other. [20:48] My vote don't count here but +1 [21:29] Logan_: that still distills down to what I described I'm afraid. [21:30] If this poses to be too much of an issue, I'll just do the Ubuntu cloak. [21:30] Pici: ^ [21:31] Myrtti: if you would please :) [21:33] double checking one more thing [21:34] or a two [21:39] Pici: I'm afraid I'll need to ask you for a few things, would you want it to be logan or Logan? and since the username has an underscore in it, please be aware that there is a possibility (however unlikely) that it might clash with some other Ubuntu member with a cloak with accountname Logan* (where * is a character we don't allow in cloaks) [21:40] Myrtti: Lowercase, please, as that seems to be the trend. [21:40] And I am aware of that possibility. [21:40] (it is a GC decision, not user decision) [21:41] Myrtti: lowercase, and I don't think we have a 'logan' or 'logan*' so without the underscore is fine. [21:41] er, oops [21:42] Fuchs: could you please action it? Myrtti tells me shes off to sleepyland [21:42] Yes, she already poked me :) [21:42] and I am already at it [21:42] I just had to get nickserv to like me, it is now set. Congratulations, Logan_ [21:43] Awesome, thanks everyone. :) [21:43] :)
