arashbmhi, I need a little hint. I installed maas as instructed in docs (on a quantal server) and set it up (with gui) so maas manages dhcp and dns for eth1. the pro15:53
arashbmthe problem is that /etc/maas/dhcp.conf still does not exist15:53
arashbmso maas-dhcp fails to start, saying "/etc/maas/dhcpd.conf does not exist.  Aborting."15:56
arashbmgot it working. Just needed to re-set the maas api address (via `sudo dpkg-reconfigure maas-cluster-controller` ) to a correct, valid address.16:20
atanasbHello everyone!21:55
atanasbI am justing starting out with MAAS and I have a little problem installing it21:55
atanasbI am running Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS and I am trying to install MAAS21:56
atanasbbut when I do:21:56
atanasbsudo apt-get install maas maas-dhcp maas-dns21:56
atanasbas per the documentation21:56
atanasbIt cannot locate the maas-dns package21:57
atanasbif I attempt to install everything else but it21:57
atanasbI end up with a partial install21:57
atanasbwitch also seems to be missing the21:58
atanasbmaas-cluster-controller21:58
atanasbapt-get is also unable to install that package either21:58
atanasbam I missing a repo or something?21:58
roaksoaxatanasb: what documentation are you using22:14
atanasbThis one -> http://maas.ubuntu.com/docs/quantal/install.html22:16
roaksoaxatanasb: that's *quantal*22:16
roaksoaxatanasb: you are using precise22:16
roaksoaxatanasb: that's why it cannot find the package22:16
roaksoaxatanasb: you might want to try to install maas from ppa: paa:maas-maintainers/stable22:16
atanasbrror: 'paa:maas-maintainers/stable' invalid22:18
atanasb:(22:18
roaksoaxatanasb: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:maas-maintainers/stable22:19
roaksoaxsudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install maas22:19
roaksoaxthat should od it22:19
roaksoax:)22:19
atanasbYes!22:20
atanasbIt works! Thank you so much!22:20
roaksoaxatanasb: no prob, you should now be able to install the rest (maas-dns/maas-dhcp) and continue following that doc22:21
atanasbShould I continue following the quantal documentaion?22:21
roaksoaxatanasb: yes22:21
roaksoaxatanasb: since you installed a newer version of maas now, it follows the same doct22:21
atanasbGreat. Will do. Thanks for the help. I'll see how it works out.22:22
atanasb:)22:22
roaksoaxatanasb: there's a huge gap between precise maas and quantal maas, which should be reduced once we release newer MAAS for precise22:22
atanasbUbuntu code names have always confused me22:22
roaksoaxatanasb: :)22:22
atanasbAlso a more general question22:23
atanasbI've got 4 machines (identical in hardware) which I'm trying to connect together22:24
atanasbis MAAS a good choice for that22:24
atanasbbecause I've tried PelicanHPC and what not.22:24
atanasbBut they all have some specifics that are inpenatrable for a newbie like me.22:25
roaksoaxatanasb: MAAS is only a provisioning service, you can do what you need afterthat,22:25
atanasbI see.22:27
atanasbroaksoax: One of the packages failes to configure22:36
atanasbI found a bug report22:38
atanasbhttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/maas/+bug/109033422:38
ubot5Launchpad bug 1090334 in maas (Ubuntu) "MAAS (in precise) requires django >= 1.3.1-4ubuntu1.5" [High,Invalid]22:39
atanasbThis is my error log: http://pastebin.com/4dU2jQSK23:31
