czajkowski | would anyone be able to share any light on why I do an update on Raring, it's breaking my virtual Box so I have to kick it each time via http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/5624797/ | 09:51 |
smb | czajkowski, It looks like whatever vboxdrv does, it has broken or got out of sync with DKMS. Maybe if you re-create the initrd you get around it for now, but likely the next kernel update with a newer abi number breaks it again. | 10:06 |
czajkowski | smb: yup as soon as update the setup each time I cna get the virtual box up and running, just kinda annoying | 10:08 |
czajkowski | as I left it wrking on Friday, do an update this morning and it's broken | 10:09 |
smb | Primarily it should be dkms that re-compiles the kernel modules because that is triggered automatically when a new kernel is installed and also should update the initrd. So when dkms got broken in some way the experience won't be nice. But I do not use virtualbox that much, so I don't know the latest status there or how any scripts have changed. | 10:13 |
czajkowski | smb: cheers | 10:13 |
tjaalton | hey, we need 20afbda209d708 from upstream to fix a regression with the i915 driver on stable series | 11:51 |
tjaalton | bug 1156310 and friends | 11:51 |
ubot2 | Launchpad bug 1156310 in xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) "xrandr detects too many displays" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1156310 | 11:51 |
lool | happy to test a kernel for LP #1156310 | 12:01 |
ubot2 | Launchpad bug 1156310 in xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) "xrandr detects too many displays" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1156310 | 12:01 |
tjaalton | I could build one | 12:01 |
lool | happy if you do :-) | 12:02 |
lool | I have a workaround | 12:02 |
lool | just trying to speed up the inclusion of the speed in any way I can | 12:02 |
tjaalton | huh, doesn't apply as-is | 12:06 |
=== mitya57_ is now known as mitya57
apw | tjaalton, isn't that one in stable now ? | 14:08 |
tjaalton | apw: let me check | 14:09 |
tjaalton | apw: I don't see it there? | 14:11 |
apw | tjaalton, i thought it saw it in 3.8.3 ... hmm | 14:16 |
tjaalton | no that's 52d7eceda which then needs this additional commit or gen4 is busted :) | 14:21 |
* ogasawara back in 20 | 14:40
tjaalton | lool: ok, kernel built and available at http://people.canonical.com/~tjaalton/lool | 14:50 |
tjaalton | hope you have amd64 installed | 14:50 |
tjaalton | can't reproduce the problem on my old laptop | 14:57 |
tjaalton | lool: new link http://people.canonical.com/~tjaalton/lp1156310 | 15:04 |
rsalveti | ogasawara: guess we need to mark https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/foundations-1303-phablet-kernel-maintenance to a series | 15:19 |
rsalveti | the work would land for s-series, so I guess it should be fine to target to that | 15:19 |
rsalveti | and let the milestone to the one it's already assigned | 15:19 |
ogasawara | rsalveti: ack, will do | 15:20 |
rsalveti | things are kind of under discussion atm, as the series x milestone usage is still not clear for the touch based work items | 15:20 |
rsalveti | but guess that for it to show at status it needs at least a valid series | 15:20 |
rsalveti | ogasawara: cool, thanks | 15:20 |
rtg_ | tjaalton, re: bug #1156310. Daniel Vetter is suggesting to revert a couple of 3.8.3 stable patches. Are they the root of lool's problems ? | 15:24 |

tjaalton | yeah reverting makes sense | 15:25 |
rtg_ | tjaalton, ok, I'll push that out and upload today. | 15:26 |

tjaalton | just wondering if you could add that there :) | 15:30 |
rtg_ | tjaalton, I mean, is that bug the result of these 2 patches ? | 15:30 |
tjaalton | no, older, fixed in 3.9rc now | 15:30 |

lool | tjaalton: BTW system crashed this morning with Ubuntu -13; seemed to be possibly related to graphics | 15:45 |
lool | as in, system hung after some heavy browser rendering | 15:45 |
lool | didn't happen in months | 15:45 |
tjaalton | could be the same | 15:46 |
tjaalton | try to break it with the updated kernel | 15:47 |

infinity | jjohansen: Any progress on 1145234? | 16:46 |
jjohansen | infinity: progress yes I think so, but I'm not done with it | 16:47 |
jjohansen | infinity: the backport was good, unfortunately, its some of the logic in between that is missing | 16:48 |
infinity | jjohansen: Mmkay. Well, I guess I don't have to feel bad that your security update is being held up by your bug. ;) | 16:48 |
