OjolocoHi there! I'm trying to install dhcp3-server, but it depends on = 4.2.4-1ubuntu4 and I have 4.2.4-1ubuntu10. If try to do a downgrade, a lot of things got broken, for example the network manager. How could I accomplish that?00:22

malaphusOjoloco: could always compile it yourself00:50
phillwmalaphus: well, looking at http://askubuntu.com/questions/199683/dhcp3-server-or-isc-dhcp-server it seems he was using an old name for a newer system ,hence it wanting *ubuntu4 when he has *ubuntu10 installed...01:45
malaphusnormal 7200 sata drives in raid1, formatted as xfs... du -sh finishes in 2.3 seconds on a 154GB directory02:21
malaphusext4, like 45 seconds!02:21
malaphussurely xfs isn't this much better02:21
Kamilionwhy do you say that?02:28
Kamilionand s/better/different/02:28
malaphusI've seen all sorts of test graphs showing the read speed of xfs much closer to ext4 than the results im getting02:29
Unit193There is a reason to use each different one, IIRC ext4 was the most stable, but I could easily be wrong on that one.02:29
Kamilionsome people swear ZFS is way better than ext4, btrfs, and xfs. I've never seen a set of workloads that didn't perform better on one of the group.02:32
KamilionPersonally, I like btrfs. May not have the best on-disk performance; but COW, replication, btrfs-apt-snapshot, etckeeper, and sending snapshots over the network without needing any kind of crazy backup software (rdiff-backup, duplicati, rsync...) is a win for my use-cases.02:35

exogenhello. how can I set my lubuntu to open launchpad bug reports via firefox? At the moment opens only into links.07:33
exogenokay update-alternatives --config is that what I need ^^08:34
exogenbut unter Unity opens firefox... strange08:34

Mathias_WMDEgreetings12:58
Mathias_WMDEhas anyone ever had temperature issues with ati/radeon graphic cards on (l)ubuntu?13:05
pmatulisanyone upgrade to Raring yet?14:18
genii-aroundpmatulis: I'm using it on my netbook14:21
pmatulisgenii-around: nice, going well?14:58
genii-aroundpmatulis: Fairly good, yes. It's an Acer D260  that I replaced the hd with a 60G SSD. So it boots up fairly fast and is quite responsive. The only issue recently was /boot got full and I had to remove a bunch of the older kernels15:00
genii-aroundNo proprietary drivers installed15:01
germanstudentHi! How do I run lxterminal as a login shell?15:56
inductiveloadgermanstudent: lxterminal -l15:58
inductiveloadmore information on lxterminal can be had from "lxterminal --help" or "man lxterminal"16:00
germanstudentthanks inductiveload, tried that. I'm not that experienced with shells, if I run lxterminal -l the system ignores .bash_profile, right? I need this in order to use rvm as described for gnome terminal here. https://rvm.io/integration/gnome-terminal/ .16:03
pmatulisgenii-around: sweet!16:04
germanstudenthm pmatulis? ^^16:05
germanstudentoh, sorry.16:06
inductiveloadgermanstudent: have you run "exec bash" to reload the profile stuff?16:11
germanstudentAh inductiveload. Thanks a lot! lxterminal -e "bash -il" worked for me \o/16:12
inductiveloadglad it's working16:13
inductiveloadbtw, a login shell _does_ read .bash_profile, a non-login shell ignores it16:14
genii-aroundpmatulis: The only thing which seemed odd for a while is the "Happy New Year" background seemed to stay until February16:31
direxionCurrently testing lubuntu-13.04-beta1-alternate-i386.iso18:09
Unit193Great, but don't forget to register your test!18:10
direxionUnderstood thanks.18:10
Unit193Are you interested in getting involved in testing?18:11
direxionYes.  Am new to it.  Just joined Lubuntu-QA team. Have used Lubuntu since 12.04 release.18:12
Unit193Great!  You should consider using zsync to update the daily ISO, makes it so you don't have nearly as much to download.18:14
direxionThanks for the tip.  That should help a lot.18:16
Unit193!zsync18:16
ubottuUse zsync to update your Ubuntu CD image without needing to download the parts that didn't change. See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ZsyncCdImage18:16
genii-aroundzsync is awesome.18:37
lorohi, I ran the latest automatic software update on my lubuntu 12.10 and now my computer regularly crashes, freezes and hangs for a few seconds. is there a way to "undo" the update or something? I'm pretty new to this20:06
zleapnot sure but if its still running maybe there will be another update that will fix it20:07
lorook hm. I've noticed too that something is wrong with the graphics. if I move a normal window, 1. there's a trail on the screen from the window, 2. the cpu load rises to 50% when it's normally at 2% or so20:09
Etanolsomebody using rainlendar?20:13
zleapback later20:14
Etanolbecause it disapears after suspend and doesn't start with restart20:14
Etanolis there something how i can fix that20:14
Unit193I don't even see it in the repos.20:14
Etanolhttp://www.rainlendar.net/20:16
Etanoltaskmanager shows it running but it disapears from desktop20:17
Unit193Etanol: I'd recommend you check http://www.rainlendar.net/cms/index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=4220:18
metalizardhttp://imgur.com/Amz1LxA whenever i try to install something on lubuntu this comes up and i cant get out of it20:19
Unit193metalizard: You are installing the ms core fonts, that is a license agreement, it's waiting for you to accept or decline.20:20
Etanoltip: use tabulator20:21
metalizardi wasnt installing ms core fonts. i was installing cowsay20:27
metalizardit also did this when i was installing Lubuntu-software-center20:28
metalizardthe only option is ok and i cant select it in any way20:28
Unit193At any rate, that's expected and it's a license agreement, it's waiting for you to give input...  Use the tab key, or left/right.20:29
metalizardok thank you20:29
