=== yofel_ is now known as yofel === txwikinger2 is now known as txwikinger [15:03] hey, anyone know how to install themes in Unity? [15:04] I just downloaded this one, http://exchange.enlightenment.org/theme/show/2607 google is no help and the site doesn't say how to install [15:04] http://www.itworld.com/software/315365/install-ten-great-unity-and-gnome-shell-themes-ubuntu-1210 [15:04] thankd [15:04] http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1971094 [15:05] Phryq: unity is not the DE you use if you want to tweak a bunch.. [15:09] ok. What is the benefit of Unity? [15:09] isn't Gnome then faster, more customizable, and more stable? [15:14] id just try them live and see what "seems" faster [15:14] i wouldnt think about benefits of DE's.. just what your may or may not prefer [15:15] ok. I like Unity but I just wish I could replace the dock with something less square [15:15] which doesn't seem to be an option [15:16] i use kupfer.. like gnome-do [15:17] i havent cared about a "dock" or a menu in years [15:17] I just want to show off linux to my grade 5 class and turn them off of Windows, haha [15:17] Phryq: show them live CD's.. show them everything [15:17] I liked fluxbox actually [15:17] Phryq: the best think linux/ubuntu has is choice... show them that, and the ones who care will notice [15:17] ya [15:17] Phryq: fluxbox is still around.. i use openbox [15:18] ya, I was using it with arch, but had to switch as I'm too noob for arch [15:18] though I used it for about 6 months [15:20] actually I find ubuntu with unity to be faster than arch with KDE [15:21] Phryq: unity is still fairly new.. and getting faster all the time [15:23] can I add transparency without installing a new theme? [15:24] Phryq: to what? [17:10] installing samba on my system, wish me luck === akar1m is now known as zz_akar1m [18:14] and samba has been installed, yeah me [18:18] awesome [18:21] isiah: are you using ubuntu [18:37] duanedesign: I have multiple vms running 2 of them are ubuntu the other 3 are centos varieties, the underlying system is centos 6 dual booted with fedora [18:49] isiah: aha , interesting [18:50] isiah: my setup is probably a little simpler. However I need to get samba set up to access Ubuntu from Windows. AS you probably know accessing Windows from Ubuntu is configured by default, so I have just been living with that [18:51] at least I know who to ask questions if i get stuck ; [18:51] ;) [18:56] isiah: did you figure out why /usr/sbin/bonnie++ was giving you command not found? [19:19] duanedesign: I think we were right yesterday that it defaults to a root-only toy [19:20] I did not investigate further, figured I would just alias and change permissions later if any user needs it [19:29] ok athanks isiah [19:30] feel free to hang out in #ubuntu-beginners-team as well. We would love to have you join the team. [19:30] isiah: ^ [19:36] oks [20:18] 3 [20:45] samba file locks are evil [22:50] duanedesign: do you still need a hand? Sorry about stepping out had some work to finish
