Macerand kubuntu uses libsane 1.0.23 afaik.. so no idea. the usb identifier is listed in the sane backend fujitsu.conf00:53

Coded1maybe there is a lock switch that is on?01:03
Macersane just won't work with it :)01:03
Maceron my kubuntu laptop01:03
Maceri'm actually considering trying another distro and seeing if it might just be a broken ubuntu pkg01:04
Macerbut i tried installing from their git repo so i'm almost certain it is either a sane issue or something with the scanner model itself changed so that it is not supported01:04

BluesKajsounds like a neat idea tho14:07
Macerwell.. if you run exchange you can do it rather easily ;)14:08
Macerbut then you need things that support exchange14:08
Maceri want something that kde can sync against.. calendar, contacts, etc14:08
Macerthe typical things you would expect to sync with google on an android device or ms on a win8 device14:08
Maceri would only hope that ubuntu phones follow suit without requiring you to use ubuntu one14:09
jEhrichswell you can sync mail/contacts/calendar with google without owncloud14:09
jEhrichsmaybe even files, not sure how far the google drive stuff is already14:09
Macerhttp://owncloud.org/about/14:09
MacerjEhrichs: yeah i know.. i am just using those as a comparison14:10

Maceri'm sure it is rather "new" as far as kde integration if there is any at all but hopefully it grows14:11

eelco_Hi guys, quick question on Kubuntu 13.04. I'm testing out the beta and noticed that Ctrl+Alt+F1 doesn't take me to a shell any more, where this worked out of the box on Kubuntu 12.10. I can switch to Ctrl+Alt+F1 up to Ctrl+Alt+F6, but the screen just goes blank (receives no input), Ctrl+Alt+F7 get's me back to my desktop as usual though. Both Ctrl+Alt+Backspace and  sudo tried /etc/init.d/lightdm stop  exited the display14:21
eelco_manager, but didn't show a shell. Do any of you know if the default behaviour has changed, or how I can boot in to a shell outside of X now?14:21
eelco_* sudo /etc/init.d/lightdm stop14:22
BluesKajeelco_:  , ask that question in #ubuntu+114:23
eelco_ok, thank you14:23
MacerjEhrichs: lol14:23
MacerjEhrichs: i don't care much for unity but yeah it might work good on a phone my only problem being the ubuntu one integration14:23
Macerhopefully that isnt a requirement of its use14:23
Guest41806how are you14:23
MacerjEhrichs: i can't see kubuntu being used on a phone :)14:24
Maceralthough.. possibly a revamped version... like their touch version14:24
Macersince qt does look far better than anything gtk based14:24
jEhrichsall it needs is a special containment, like plasma active is14:24
Maceryes14:25
Macerthat is what i was thinking of.. active14:25
jEhrichsbut let unity start, they are using qt and qml, this is a big win for qt/kde/plasma14:25
Macerhopefully the kubuntu team will be able to make an active version of it ;)14:25
Maceri don't know. unity on a desktop seems to be gnome with a dock on the left14:26
Macersince all the base apps are still gnome apps14:26
BluesKajand how does this relate to kubuntu support, Macer , jEhrichs ?14:26
jEhrichsnah they will go qt/qml on all platforms sooner or later14:26
goodtimeits uncustomizeable14:26
jEhrichssorry BluesKaj :)14:26
goodtimeunity that is14:26
MacerBluesKaj: oh.. is this channel support only? i thought it was just kubuntu discussion14:26
BluesKajMacer:  kubuntu discussion in #kubuntu-offtopic , BELEIVE IT OR NOT14:27

n8wi know this might sound stupid, but how do i create an application shortcut?no "create new" entry when right-click on the desktop16:51
BluesKajn8w:  you drag or add to desktop from the kmenu16:54
n8wBluesKaj, ye:) possible...but not all entries r "dragable"16:55
BluesKajwhat are you trying to shortcut , n8w ?16:55
n8wBluesKaj, just regular applications16:55
n8wBluesKaj, why am i missing that entry in my right click menu?16:56
BluesKajright click on them in the kmenu , then choose "add to desktop"16:56
n8wBluesKaj, nope...right click doesnt do anythin....16:57
n8wBluesKaj, it does it with applications havin an icon...the one im tryin to make a shortcut of doesnt have an icon16:57
BluesKajn8w:  what app is it ?16:58
n8wBluesKaj, i have noticed it before...if a icon for an application doesnt show up in the menu, then its not dragable16:58
n8wBluesKaj, it appears in the menu as "run appname"16:59
n8wBluesKaj, it doesnt rly matter which app it is...16:59
BluesKajn8w:  is this an app compiled from source16:59
n8wBluesKaj, nope, apt get16:59
BluesKajhmm, I don't have any apps without icons17:00
BluesKajhave you dist-upgraded lately ?17:00
n8wBluesKaj, nope17:01
n8wBluesKaj, btw the app name is sqliteman17:01
BluesKajsqliteman is an admin app  or a datbase which probly requires root permissions to be setup in the gui17:04
BluesKajso then perhaps you have an icon view if you choose17:04
n8wBluesKaj, no it doesnt require root...anywai, i have figured out...i have got a desktop view, so fining the app in a file manager and draggin it to the desktop gives the option to create a shortcut17:10
