nottheoilrigmitya57: thank you for reviewing merge 15476712:39
nottheoilrigi forwarded the fix to debian + upstream12:39
nottheoilrigbut can you please coach me on how to fix the distribution in debian/changelog?12:40
jtaylornottheoilrig: just edit it with an editor12:42
jtaylorreplace unstable with raring12:42
mitya57jtaylor said that :)12:42
jtayloralso the version number is wrong for ubuntu12:42
jtaylornottheoilrig: which number does the debian bug have?12:45
nottheoilrighttp://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=36829712:46
ubot2Debian bug 368297 in libldap-2.4-2 "sudo-ldap failes when you change uri to ldaps" [Serious,Open]12:47
* mitya57 thought that libldap-2.4-2 != python-gnutls12:47
mitya57and the bug linked to your branch is against libgcrypt1112:49
nottheoilrigwhat is the correct way to reassign bug #1013798 to python-gnutls?12:50
ubot2Launchpad bug 1013798 in libgcrypt11 (Ubuntu Raring) "Blink SIP client segfaults with libgcrypt11 1.5.0-3ubuntu0.1" [Critical,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/101379812:50
jtaylorwe would need this patch to be forwarded to debian pygnutls too12:51
jtaylorand upstream, do you have a link if you already did?12:51
nottheoilrighow do i mark it as forwarded upstream to dan@ag-projects.com?12:54
jtayloradd the link in also affects distribution12:54
jtayloror just post the link12:54
jtaylorwe need an answer from upstream on this12:58
jtaylorwho knows maybe gcry_check_version is actually an alias for disable_all_crypto12:58
jtaylorwhich wouldn't surprise me with the crapy crypto apis we have ._.12:58
nottheoilrigthe "merge into" is quantal, should i change the distribution to quantal?12:59
mitya57no, but you can change "merge into" to raring12:59
jtaylornottheoilrig: if you get a review on the patch I'm sure adam stokes will take care of the details13:00
nottheoilrigokay thanks13:02
jtaylorlooking at the debian bug it may be to simple13:06
jtaylorgcrypt seems to be impossible to initialize properly when following the docs13:06
nottheoilrigjtaylor: ?13:08
jtaylorgcrypt is used implicitly by gnutls13:08
jtaylorbut the applications need to initialize it13:09
jtaylorbut they don't even know they are using gcrypt13:09
jtaylorit would probably best to revert the fix and use the patch debian used, and then get rid of gcrypt in raring+ as fast as possible :/13:10
jtaylorbut I'll leave that to the security team13:10
nottheoilrigi think that's a separate issue13:11
nottheoilrigpython-gnutls already attempts to initialize gcrypt13:12
nottheoilrig(it invokes GCRYCTL_INITIALIZATION_FINISHED)13:13
nottheoilrigit just doesn't do it properly13:13
nottheoilrigif it didn't initialize gcrypt at all, gnutls_global_init would and the segfault would be resolved13:14
nottheoilrigif it initialized it according to the gcrypt manual, the segfault would be resolved13:16
jtaylorI see13:16
nottheoilrigi think the bug is that python-gnutls does some initialization13:16
nottheoilrig(which stops gnutls_global_init from invoking gcry_check_version)13:17
nottheoilrigbut it doesn't initialize it properly13:18
