bluesabre_hey micahg, have you had any luck with catfish?  Is there anything I can look at?13:16
ochosimicahg, mr_pouit: could one of you please update Greybird to v1.1.1 in shimmer-themes in order to fix bug #1158431 in Raring?14:43

pleia2articles!16:19
knomehow many pages did we have all in all?16:22
pleia21616:23
pleia2"Installing Themes" and "Managing Themes and Styles" still need authors16:23
pleia2I can reach out beyond our -devel list if needed16:24
knomemmh16:24
knomei'm wondering if we should combine those16:24
knomei don't think they easily make 2 pages on their own16:24
pleia2ah, good point16:24
pleia2there16:24
knomewill we link to the pad urls from the wiki ?16:25
pleia2yeah, I don't think we have to worry too much about vandalism16:25
knomeyeah, good16:26
knomewhen would you have some time to work on "our" article?16:26
knomeor think if there's something else we should cover16:27
pleia2should have some time over the weekend, sunday morning around this time16:28
pleia2or you can get started and I can pitch in during the evenings this week as I have time16:28
pleia2(I am mostly working during knome awake times during the week, like now)16:29
knomeheh, yeah16:29
knomewhat about the latter stuff?16:29
knomei think at this point it would be better if we played editors and thought what we still need16:30
knomeand possibly do some estimates on how many pages would each article cover16:30
pleia2I don't know that we can do the estimates, I don't know what people intend to write16:31
pleia2but yeah, we should mostly be editors, I don't know what other articles to add though16:31
knomemmh16:31
knomei'll try to think about them and post to the channel16:31
pleia2wanna create pads and link to wiki? I need to dive into work16:32
knomemmh, i can16:32
knomehf16:32
pleia2+follow up on list16:32
pleia2thanks16:32

scottbombI have a question about reporting bugs during testing. I download an ISO, install it, test it, and run across a bug. I search, can't find it already reported so I create a new bug report. But the next day, on the next ISO, the bug is no longer there. I then go and change the bug status to invalid. Is this the correct way to go about it? I am checking md5 so I'm confident in the ISO integrity but maybe I sho17:04
GridCubeyes, that is correct, if the problem persist then you have pinpointed its origin17:05
knomescottbomb, for possible future regressions, i'd comment the date the bug appeared and the date when it disappeared17:06
scottbombSo I do report it the first time I see it?17:12
knomescottbomb, sure, as usual17:12
scottbombCool thanks.17:12
knomescottbomb, then if it disappears, mark it invalid and comment "this no longer exists in image from xxxxxxxx"17:13
scottbombWill do, thanks.17:21
Noskcajis it possible to use gnome-screensaver instead of xscreensaver, it's not pretty either, but the pic is less scary19:57
Unit193Noskcaj: Have you looked at the depends of that package or even installed it?20:06
pleia2is there a not-crazy way for us to patch xscreensaver with a less scary picture?20:06
pleia2"amagad computer on fire... no wait just screen lock, what?"20:07
NoskcajUnit193, i have it installed, forgot what else it installed though20:08
pleia2looks like we can edit the colors with a config, but not the image20:09
Noskcajpleia2, no, there's a lot of discussion on the ubuntu forums about it20:09
Unit193libgnome-desktop-3-4, which depends on gnome-desktop3-data and many more fun things.20:09
pleia2yeah, gnome-screensaver pulls in like half of gnome :(20:09
Unit193Just replace the xscreensaver-5.15/utils/images/logo*xmp files and recompile. :P20:13
NoskcajUnit193, you say it as though that's  easy20:15
Unit193Well, I was kidding, but not too bad with pbuilder.20:16
pleia2I think it would be easy, but it is a patch we'd have to carry and that's never delightful (looks like we just sync from debian now?)20:20
pleia2and I don't think the rest of ubuntu would love us if we stuck a mouse on it :)20:20
pleia2maddernick: plz make us a xubuntu-xscreensaver20:20
maddernickwasn't ochosi working on something like that?20:21
Noskcajlol, maybe if you make it look for an external photo, lubuntu won't hate us20:21
pleia2maddernick: I know he was reviewing alternatives a while back20:22
maddernickah20:22
pleia2maybe for 13.10 :)20:22
pleia2it is something people complain about though, I watched my fiance go through the "whoa, what the" moment when he installed xubuntu20:22
pleia2"oh that's just the lock screen" "with FIRE?!"20:23
maddernickhehe, iirc its quite a pain to make screensavers, and image formats etc complicate matters20:24
pleia2not screensavers, just changing the image on the lock dialog20:24
pleia2the screensavers are fine :)20:24
maddernicksame thing applies :P20:25
maddernickThere was, iirc, this one little thing that made it horrid, I may have to look into what that was again ;)20:26
Unit193pleia2: He was looking for lockers.20:26
pleia2there's /usr/share/pixmaps/xscreensaver.svg & /usr/share/pixmaps/xscreensaver.xpm20:26
pleia2http://www.swanson.ukfsn.org/xss/ explains how to make them20:26
pleia2(and has a patch)20:26
Unit193(It never really worried me, I don't get the big fuss over it.)20:26
pleia2Unit193: we put all this work into making xubuntu beautiful :)20:27
Cheri703and then have a crunchy looking flaming computer pop up20:27
pleia2yeah20:28
Unit193pleia2: Sure, but that's a given. :P20:29
ochosimaddernick, pleia2: yes, i'm working on a locker for lightdm20:40
ochosihopefully we can use it in R+120:40
ochosi(it's already working though)20:40
Noskcajochosi, can we have it in a PPA for testing purposes20:45
ochosiif you put it in one, then yes :)20:46
bluesabre_based on some of the things I've seen requested and my own experience, i think it would be worthwhile to make a basic proxy app for xubuntu/xfce20:46
ochosias soon as we've done a first release, i'm considering packaging20:46
ochosibut not really before that20:46
ochosibluesabre_: +120:46
Unit193bluesabre_: +220:47
bluesabre_I might play with that with all the extra time I'll have while in NY next month20:47
bluesabre_as well as learning java and who knows what else20:47
Noskcajbluesabre_, +320:50
Unit193(Though, I wouldn't personally use such a tool.)20:53
Unit193bluesabre_: Have you seen the "LXProxy" ?  It doesn't seem to have gone much of anywhere, buuut.20:54
bluesabre_I'll look into that.  Thanks Unit19320:54
knomehullo.20:55
bluesabre_hey knome20:55
knomemarch 26, the official worldwide day of confused clients20:55
knome:)20:55
knome(not in a bad way, i've just been explaining stuff to several ones today)20:56
knomeho-humm20:59
Noskcajknome, but it's the 27th. stupid timezones21:11
Noskcaji've added some stuff to most of the magazine articles, if anyone wants to look over them21:12
knomei think it was 26th even in your TZ when i had those calls/discussions ;)21:12
knomefortunately my clients don't call me at 11pm21:13
knome(usually)21:13
Noskcajlol, it's 8am, so possibly21:13
knomeyeah, i just went them through. looks good21:13
=== OutOfControl is now known as benonsoftware
ochosibluesabre_: shouldn't a proxy-settings UI be rather simplish to do? basically just setting the ENV_VAR or is there more to it?23:22
