madeinkobaiaHi, we started a conversation 2 days ago and zequence told me that you need some help for improve the layout for UbuntuStudio social network interfaces (I think Google+ and Facebook mainly), I am still interested for work on it :)13:48
holsteinmadeinkobaia: that would be great!14:21
holsteini think scott is the google+ account holder14:21
holsteinnot sure though14:21
holsteinmadeinkobaia: have you tried claiming admin right?14:22
madeinkobaiaholstein : no, should I ?14:47
holsteinmadeinkobaia: well, if you want to maintain them, id say thats a way to do it14:47
holsteini thought we were having issues with the FB account.. but i dont remember specifics14:47
madeinkobaiaIn fact we could start like that, I first do the banners (witch is the main graphical element for google+ and fb) I send the result on the dev mail list, what do think ?14:49
holsteinmadeinkobaia: works for me. i would send/share them here too.. sometimes things get missed on the list14:51
madeinkobaiaOk, so we will work directly by mail, if I understand ?14:52
len-1304There may be a launchpad branch for that.14:53
len-1304but you can start with email.14:53
madeinkobaiaOk, mine is : madeinkobaia@gmail.com14:53
len-1304Join the ubuntustudio-devel mialing list14:54
len-1304That is where it would go. zequence does not seem to be active right now, but will probably say something later today if you are still connected.14:55
len-1304https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/Ubuntu-Studio-devel14:55
len-1304is the page to join our devel mailing list14:55
len-1304madeinkobaia, ^^14:56
madeinkobaiaOk I already joined the list, 14:56
len-1304I'm looking for the lanchpad page too... I'm on a new install so I have no bookmarks :P14:56
madeinkobaiaok :)14:57
len-1304Ok this is where the current social media stuff is kept: https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntustudio-dev/ubuntustudio-resources/art14:59
madeinkobaiaOk ! I goin to take a look on it15:00
len-1304You can branch the code with bzr to see it and if you make changes to it you can upload to a private branch under your name and propose merge15:00
len-1304subscribe zequence to the merge15:01
madeinkobaiaSorry, what do you mean by  "bzr" and "merge" ? (sorry my english is not perfect ;) )15:03
len-1304bzr is a program that you run from a terminal.15:04
len-1304The command to branch the code (that is download it to your system) is on the project page: bzr branch lp:~ubuntustudio-dev/ubuntustudio-resources/art15:04
len-1304If you set yourself up a launchpad account then you can "push" to that account.15:05
len-1304I should have a url to point you that explains it better than I do.15:06
madeinkobaiaOk, I already have an account on lauchpad I will do that15:06
madeinkobaiaok15:06
len-1304The guys who normally have this stuff at the "tip of their fingers" are not here right now :)15:07
madeinkobaiaok15:07
len-1304If there is any problem we can use email as a fall back though so no worries.15:08
madeinkobaiaGreat, no problems anyway ;) 15:10
madeinkobaiaAbout the banners I would like to basically copy the design of the ubuntustudio site, or do you need something else, different ?15:12
len-1304I am not the one to ask on this. No artistic sense at all :)15:12
madeinkobaialol, ok15:12
len-1304look for zequence scott_work, smartboyhw.15:13
madeinkobaiaok15:13
madeinkobaiaWell I start to work on the g+ banner now for the rest we stay tuned :)15:17
ttoinehello15:53
len-1304ttoine, 0/16:19
len-1304ttoine, I hdon't like alacarte, but arronax doesn't replace it from what I can see.16:22
len-1304xfce will be coming out with an xfce menu editor soon too.16:22
len-1304arronax may be worthwhile including as well as whatever else we have though16:23
len-1304arronax is gnome heavy as well.16:32
len-1304It should be easily possible to do the same thing with gtk libs only using python.16:33
len-1304In fact a translation portion could easily be added as well.16:34
zequencemadeinkobaia: No hurry with learning bzr and that stuff, but it does greatly help if you get a LP account16:38
zequencettoine: Please don't add workitems for raring16:39
zequencettoine: We won't be doing any other work than fixing bugs until release. Final Beta will be out next week16:40
zequenceI guess we should already begin next release blueprints16:40
zequenceI'll have that done soon16:41
len-1304zequence, it was just in the white board16:42
zequenceAh, I missed that16:43
zequenceThat's actually the best place for now16:44
zequencemadeinkobaia: I think making something using the website theme is a good idea. And it would be interesting to see the results. If it looks nice, I think we could change quite soon. Just remember, we like to keep the slogan "linux for creative humans", and we want to add that to the website too16:46
madeinkobaiazequence : I already created an LP account few months ago (my account is madeinkobaia) about bzr, its not complicated I think, I used to work on VCS and other stuffs and if my neurones are still awake there will be no problems 16:46
zequencemadeinkobaia: bzr is not difficult. Especially with artwork. So, you should have no problems16:47
zequencemadeinkobaia: As for the future, and I mean like one year from now 14.04, it would be nice if we had something new, themewise for our website and social channels. Also, the desktop. But, that is a lenghty project, and I think we need to do some proper planning for that - put down some directions on what we are looking for aesthetically16:48
ttoinezequence, ok, but at the moment, I can't find spec about +116:49
zequencettoine: Yeah, I know. we don't have on yet :). I didn't look closely enough. thought you added a workitem, which you didn't. Not a big deal anyway. It's not like it would change anything physically16:50
ttoineit was just a whiteboard comment actually16:54
madeinkobaiazequence : About the design, as I have your approbation I will do it in that way : match with the website design and keep the text as it is. About the choice of the font I will try with the official "Ubuntu" font or maybe choose another one (I got the choice in OpenFontLibrairy). For the logo and other graphical material I think I can get it somewhere on the Ubuntu main site.16:55
zequencemadeinkobaia: The Ubuntu font is something all of the flavors are using (I think), so that is something that we know works well, etc. But, since we are about multimedia, and that includes art, it would make sense to do something of our own, yes. So, doing one of each sounds good16:58
zequencemadeinkobaia: I was going to add you to the -art team, but made a mistake. You will be getting some mail about that :)17:00
zequencemadeinkobaia: Anyway, welcome to the team. You will have push rights to the bzr tree now. I changed the ownership, so it's owned by ~ubuntustudio-art now17:02
zequencemadeinkobaia: https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntustudio-art/ubuntustudio-resources/art17:02
zequencemadeinkobaia: To get the branch, I would do:17:03
zequencebzr branch lp:~ubuntustudio-art/ubuntustudio-resources/art ubuntustudio-art17:03
zequenceWhen you've added something, and you want to share it:17:04
zequencebzr commit -m "description of changes here"17:04
zequenceThen:17:04
zequencebzr push17:04
zequenceOr, rather:17:04
zequencebzr push lp:~ubuntustudio-art/ubuntustudio-resources/art17:04
zequenceThat's all you need to worry about17:04
zequencemadeinkobaia: If you made a commit, regret it, and you haven't pushed it yet, you can do:17:05
zequencebzr uncommit17:05
zequenceOnly do that, if you have not pushed17:05
zequencettoine: Sorry for being particular, btw. And not reading more carefully.17:07
ttoinezequence, it is ok17:13
ttoinebbl17:13
madeinkobaiaI am back :)17:50
madeinkobaiaWow, thanks for add me as member, that's really great :)17:58
zequencefixed jackd2 was accepted into quantal and precise -proposed, so they will want them to be tested. I'll be doing that right now21:58
zequencehttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/jackd2/+bug/956438/comments/1721:59
ubottuLaunchpad bug 956438 in jackd2 (Ubuntu Quantal) "jackdbus crashes on stop" [Undecided,Fix committed]21:59
