[18:08] On a different partition? [18:08] yes [18:09] Conceivably you can use loadlin and debootstrap [18:09] I've never tried, but it should be possible by using Cygwin [18:09] So you'll be installing Ubuntu from another Linux (Cygwin) [18:11] so ill boot a virtual linux in windows and use this linux to install xubuntu? [18:12] Pretty much [18:12] https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromLinux [18:17] but the website says that debootstrap just runs on win95,98,me? [18:17] mine is xp [18:17] correcting: loadlin just works on this os [18:28] but using this way its not possible to install xubuntu directly? [18:30] well have to go [18:31] thanks for your help!!! === Cheri703_ is now known as Cheri703 === TheDrums is now known as 77CAAVMF2 [18:51] Hi, I've been using Ubuntu 10.04 for a while and just switched to the latest Xubuntu, but it feels incredibly sluggish. Any reason for this? [18:51] I'm using a virtualbox btw [18:51] Same memory/space allocated to the install as ubuntu 10.04 [18:52] a vbox will do that [18:56] mmm can't see any lag in my Xubuntu CorySimmons. have you installed anything extra? [18:56] No, I literally just fired up the box [18:57] Looking into swappiness now [18:57] Ubuntu doesn't do this. :( I thought xubuntu was supposedly faster. [18:58] hello eveyone [18:58] It's not just laggy, it's like, really.... really bad [18:59] how much memory are you giving it? [18:59] hi xubuntu907 [18:59] 512mb [18:59] Ugh, that's the problem [18:59] well i am having a problem installing xubuntu on my machine [18:59] try 1Gb [18:59] Wish I could just update the vbox to add more mem, but it won't let me [19:00] Oh! Yeah it will! w00t [19:00] it is kind of stuck i think [19:01] xubuntu907: What's wrong? [19:01] You running vbox? [19:02] it is at the end of installing files and it is stuck on this message "Running post-installation trigger update-notifier-common" [19:03] it is not completing the installation [19:05] any suggestions? [19:13] can anybody tell me what to do, please? [19:15] !patience | xubuntu907 [19:15] xubuntu907: Don't feel ignored and repeat your question quickly; if nobody knows your answer, nobody will answer you. See http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1613132 on how to use this parameter [19:26] Can anyone assist me with installing gimphoto on xubuntu?
