[01:01] is there a meeting tonight? [01:02] i'm here but a bit afk as i put my son to bed [01:03] There's a meeting tonight [01:04] sorry, I'm running a little late [01:04] Who all is here for the meeting? [01:04] http://loco.ubuntu.com/meetings/ubuntu-michigan/514/detail/ <- agenda [01:04] I'm not here. I'm just an illusion. [01:04] quite alright by me, i was lucky to get back with food for the meeting [01:05] OK, let's get started then [01:05] We have a few things to cover for the meeting [01:05] first off: Release party at Penguicon [01:05] We'll be once again having our release party at penguicon [01:05] That's on the Friday evening, from 7-8 [01:05] pm [01:06] http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/ubuntu-michigan/2167-ubuntu-1304-release-party/ [01:06] I'll update the event with more information [01:07] But the short of it is it'll be at the hotel bar. [01:07] and you'll be able to buy drinks and have a good time [01:08] in whatever combination of the two you care to do. :) [01:08] Im not sure if the west side is planning a release party. brousch, do you have any plans set up? [01:08] I do not [01:09] what is the date? [01:09] trying to see if i would be around [01:09] 4/26 [01:09] cool i'll be around on the west side i think [01:10] If you folks want to plan something, feel free to add it to the events list on the site. [01:10] that goes for anyone else who wants to set p a release party [01:11] If you don't have access to the loco calendar, please feel free to find someone who does to add it [01:11] ug, that week is too busy already [01:11] brousch: Delegate. :) [01:11] mon: grwebdev; tue: friendlycode; wed: grmakers; thu: wmlug [01:12] next mon: glsec conference [01:12] What is it with the west siders and their conferences? :) [01:12] We have a lot of stuff! [01:12] Sheesh, you'd think you were a tech hub or something. ;) [01:12] Working on it [01:13] Anywho, that's what's on the schedule at the moment [01:13] the 25th is the actual release day right? [01:13] again, if you want to organize a party, please feel free. [01:13] waldo323: Not sure. Frankly I've not been paying attention. :) [01:14] I'd be pleasently surprised if it releases on that date. :) [01:14] I'll weait uintil after Penguicon anyway. [01:14] Anyone running 13.04 at the moment? [01:15] I've heard the video drivers are vastly improved. [01:15] as in it'll render in realtime. ;) [01:16] nice [01:17] Anything else on the release parties? [01:17] Definitely hope to see you all there. :) [01:18] I tried to get a conference pack, but I have a feeling we won't have one in time [01:18] But there will be plenty of 12.10 DVDs and 12.04 CDs [01:18] my plan is to leave Penguicon with less DVDs than when I came [01:18] so take some DVDs and distribute them. [01:19] 13.04 will not have DVDs, so that's a relief... er, good news. [01:19] Which brings me to the next topic. [01:19] brousch, what is glsec? link to it? [01:20] http://loco.ubuntu.com/meetings/team/514/agenda/1486/update/ [01:20] There was esome talk at the latest UDS about dropping the distinction between Approvedn and Unapproved Locos [01:21] Which I fully support. I think we've gotten way too hung up on the distinction between which groups are approved, and which ones are unapproved. [01:22] But regardless of the decision of the Loco Council regarding dropping the approved / unapproved statuses, I think it's time for us to seriouosly think about our approval status [01:23] and instead switch to unapproved status come the renewal. [01:23] Reasons are as follows: [01:24] 1) With the dropping of DVD shipments, and less resources for Canonical to distribute amongst the teams, the distinctions between approved and unapproved become moot. [01:25] 2) Our group has a lot of intertia, but we're dwingling in time and commitment abilities [01:25] dwingling? That's a new one. ;) [01:25] please keep your dwingling in your pants [01:26] jjesse: http://glsec.softwaregr.org/ [01:26] 3) I think it's more honest with ourselves about what we're doing as a group. One of the reasons I kept the CHC stuff on the calendar is because it "looked good". But it hasn't been an Ubuntu Hour in over a year. [01:27] And for selfish reasons, I hate the team reports that are required as part of the approval process. They're a pain in the butt. [01:27] Is there anyone opposed to us going unapproved should the time come for us to make a decision? [01:28] It is fine with me [01:28] No, I don't see any need for it anyway. [01:28] My hope is the council will do away with the distinction so we won't have to make the decision, but should we be called to make a decision, I think it's the better decision to take. [01:29] would it make it more difficult for us to become approved again if we found that we wanted to attain that status at some point in the future? [01:29] If anyone wants to talk offline, please feel free to email me: craig@decafbad.net [01:29] waldo323: I don't believe so. There's a grace period and some reforming that can happen [01:30] But I think the process has become entirely too bureaucratic [01:31] And the traditional reasons for approved teams are going away. [01:31] The sooner they remove the distinction, the happier folks will be. [01:32] it would be better to spend the time doing other things than paper work [01:32] Well, and not kidding ourselves either. [01:32] * waldo323 nods [01:33] OK, so if nothing else on that topic, our last topic: [01:33] Community Service. [01:33] This is an idea that's been percolating in my head of just taking out some time (much like the global jam) that isn't tied to a particular event [01:34] and just do something related to Ubuntu [01:34] brousch, thanks [01:34] No pressure. No drum beating. [01:35] I don't have much beyond those little notes, but if someone is interested, we could try for something in the next cycle. [01:35] Give it some thought. There's no need to decide this meeting. :) [01:36] are you looking for ideas like helping with habitat for humanity for a day and things like that? [01:36] Not necessarily, but that's something we could do as well. [01:38] Anywho, if you have any ideas, please feel free to post them to the list [01:38] and we can discuss at the next meeting [01:38] Any other business to discuss? [01:38] I can't think of any [01:42] OK, I think that's it for me [01:42] and for this meeting [01:43] Thanks everyone! [01:43] thank you [02:57] so i'm here in Brookfield WI and all the Caribou coffees in Milwaukee are closing and only 1 of them is reopening as a Peets [02:57] Yeah, it's pretty fucked up. [02:57] they all close next sunday at noon [02:58] Nice. [02:58] How very clockwork of them [02:58] so going to load up before leaving :) [02:58] I've been buying mugs every time I've gon there [03:02] nice === lotia_ is now known as lotia [11:58] In git, I want to include a certain directory and the README.md within it, but I want to exclude everything else in that dir. How do I do that? [12:02] add the rest to .gitignore [12:02] always keep a clean git st command [12:04] I think I got it [12:04] backups/* [12:04] ! backups/README.md [12:06] brousch@foxmeat:~/Projects/viget-theme$ git st [12:06] git: 'st' is not a git command. See 'git --help'. [12:07] http://paste.mitechie.com/show/923/ fixed :P [12:08] Well other people will use this and I want to make sure they don't checkin a backup, which is about 2GB and contains information that shouldn't be in the repo [12:08] gotcha [12:09] so why the readme in the backup dir? [12:09] To explain why it exists [12:09] The backup dir needs to exist becaus eit gets mapped into a vagrant guest [12:30] Good morning [12:31] morning [12:38] oooh, that's some sneaky shit http://thejh.net/misc/website-terminal-copy-paste [12:39] yea, Blazeix I think posted that over the weekend [12:39] oh so true [13:49] greg-g: _stink_ http://reasonsmysoniscrying.tumblr.com/ brilliant! [14:01] <_stink_> rick_h_: hahahaha [14:01] <_stink_> i saw a link to that earlier [14:01] <_stink_> gotta hit it later [14:54] heh [16:43] http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2013/04/does-webkit-face-a-troubled-future-now-that-google-is-gone did not expect to see the word 'oracle' in this and now I'm afraid [17:06] I don't get the hullabaloo [17:07] My only concern is that Google drags it's heels on releasing the source [17:07] This reminds me of the XFree86 vs. Xorg split [17:08] in the end either they'll merge back together, or one will outpce the other one [17:47] jrwren: is that AD Azure thing basically PAAS AD? [17:47] like, a company can just pay to have AD? [17:48] no, I didnt' see that scenario mentioned, although it might work with persistent azure vpn. [17:49] oh so it's AD for the cloud instances? [17:49] yes [17:50] you can federate to your premise AD or extend your permise AD into azure. [18:05] Annette Funecello died today. [18:05] All that is good and right in the world is gone [18:05] * rick_h_ googles Annette Funecello [18:07] i was going to mourn by watching beach blanket bingo, but decided on psyco beach party instead. [18:09] Yeah, that's the problem; most of her work was Disney dreck. [18:10] arguably the first manufactured actress of disney [18:10] The proto-Britney [18:10] she was before hailey mills [18:10] britney left disney pretty early on. [18:11] Tried to find a list of Disney Actresses, but unfortunately it was all way too current [18:11] aka: didn't recognize any names on the list. [18:12] aka: old [18:15] I think of that red haired coke head girl as the more modern disney product === greg-g is now known as asheesh1 === asheesh1 is now known as greg-g [22:46] !sed [22:48] ?
