wxl!iso | meway00:19
ubottumeway: To mount an ISO disc image, type « sudo mount -o loop <ISO-filename> <mountpoint> » - There is a list of useful cd image conversion tools at http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/CD_Image_Conversion - Always verify the ISO using !MD5 before !burning.00:19
wxloh darn00:19
wxli thought i had it right :)00:19
mewaywon't infrared recorder work?00:19

holstein!minimal | meway01:47
ubottumeway: The Minimal CD image is very small in size, and it downloads most packages from the Internet during installation, allowing you to select only those you want (the installer is like the one on the !Alternate CD). See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD01:47

lumpuntothe problem with lubuntu is the ubuntu packages have some nonsense dependencies, for example, if you want to install cheese (webcam app) you are recommended to install pretty much the entire ubuntu. why the hell cheese depends on things like brasero?06:44
wxllumpunto: you are mistaken. that is an ubuntu problem.06:44
wxlif you did that in xubuntu or kubuntu, same thing.06:45
lumpuntowxl: yeah :D. I wanted to install the sound recorder also (gnome-media something like this) and ended giving up and using the command line, because I would need to install tons of packages.06:45
lumpuntothe ubuntu repos have a serious problem of dependencies. everything depends on everything :)06:46
mysteriousdarren#sadbuttrue06:46
lumpuntononsense06:46
lumpuntoyeah06:46
mysteriousdarrenI wish some packages would "just work" like ubuntu is supposed to.06:47
lumpuntoyeah :) same here06:47
mysteriousdarrenLittle by little I guess, some things are getting better I'm happy to report06:48
lumpuntoi hope so. another annoyance is that a lot of packages depends on pulseaudio, but I wouldn't like to use pulseaudio on lubuntu.06:50
wxlmaybe you need to find better alternatives06:51
lumpuntoof course if you force them to install without pulseaudio they works perfectly as well06:51
mysteriousdarrenYa depends, sometimes things freak out on ya06:51
lumpuntopersonally, i've experienced more problem by using pulseaudio than not using it at all06:52

SonikkuAmerica(Should I ask this somewhere else?) I'm having trouble with IO APIC when the Lubuntu 13.04 Beta 2 (32-bit) live image boots up.20:51
SonikkuAmerica*in VBox20:51
holstein!13.04 | SonikkuAmerica20:53
ubottuSonikkuAmerica: Ubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail) will be the 18th release of Ubuntu, Discussion and support until final release in #ubuntu+120:53
holsteinthats where i would go20:53
SonikkuAmericaOK...20:55
SonikkuAmerica(But it's scheduled to go out in 2-3 weeks! :( )20:56
holsteinSonikkuAmerica: i would test it on metal..20:56
SonikkuAmericaI only have one of those, I'm too lazy to pull out gparted, and I need a (somewhat) production environment. Running Ubuntu 12.10 obviously doesn't help that last bullet point much...20:58
holsteinSonikkuAmerica: i wouldnt lose sleep over it then20:59
SonikkuAmericaNvm, got it working.21:03
SonikkuAmerica(without APIC. This is weird due to the fact that I thought I'd disabled it last time)21:03
