warren-hillYesterday I installed http://releases.ubuntu.com/13.04/ubuntu-13.04-beta2-desktop-i386.iso on a test system and discovered that neither gksu nor gksu is installed.  Is this a bug or a deliberate change?  if a bug what package should I report it against?  If it's a policy decision how to run GUI programs with root privleges?10:55
warren-hillanyone here?11:02
warren-hillIf a package which should be part of the standard Ubuntu install is not included in the install what do I report it against?11:45

RoyKseems bug 1171945 exists at least from precise, possibly from earlier releases, but I haven't tested17:41
ubot2Launchpad bug 1171945 in mdadm (Ubuntu) "Nested RAID levels aren't started after reboot" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/117194517:41
warren-hillInstall of  13.03 from this iso http://releases.ubuntu.com/13.04/ubuntu-13.04-beta2-desktop-i386.iso  gksu is not installed.  Is this a bug?17:56
warren-hillIf so what package do I report it against?17:57
jtaylorhm is gksu still supposed to be used?17:59
warren-hillWhat else would you use to run a GUI application as root?18:00
jtaylorpkexec I think18:00
warren-hillThere is lots of info such as here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RootSudo on using gksu.  How do use pkexec?18:01
warren-hillfor example to edit a config file: gksu gedit path_to_file18:02
jtaylorhm pkexec does not allow running guis unless explicitly allowed so its probably not a replacement18:06
jtaylornot sure why gksu was removed then18:07
warren-hillz18:07
warren-hillso its a bug?18:07
warren-hillif so what do I report it against?18:08
jtaylorI doubt its a bug, I just don't know what you are supposed to use instead18:08
warren-hillFor now I can use sudo -i then do everything from the command line but it's not good for all users18:10
warren-hillWhat defines the packages that are part of a standard install?  maybe there is some info to say if the removal was deliberate and why18:14
jtayloryou might get a better answer in #ubuntu-devel18:16
warren-hillthanks I'll try there18:16
hggdhgksudo?18:24
LetozafHi guys I want to ask you about bug 1099122, I always use to encounter this problem while testing on ARM, now the problem does not occur anymore, but do not know how to mark this bug. invalid is not correct as it occurred and fixed released does not sound good either19:57
ubot2Launchpad bug 1099122 in ubiquity (Ubuntu) "unable to enter timezone city in input field during install" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/109912219:57
bdmurrayLetozaf: Invalid is the better choice of the two since we don't know what exactly fixed it20:03
Letozafbdmurray, ok thank you20:04
bdmurrayno problem20:05

m-ahttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fetchmail/+bug/1171818 can cause data corruption for some users. It should be marked high priority, marked as triaged, and should be either patched (patch available from Git repo) or SRU'd.22:12
ubot2Launchpad bug 1171818 in fetchmail (Ubuntu) "fetchmail mimedecode option drops last message line" [Undecided,Confirmed]22:12
