JonathanDI am *still* working on removing the liquid cooling from this case.14:09
JonathanDI don't think it's even possible to refill the system. It doesn't seem possible to get to the fill cap without taking everything out, including the disconnecting the tubing.14:09
JonathanDseems like an awful design.14:09
JonathanDWish I knew who made the case, there might be instructions.14:10
MutantTurkeydrexel IRT here?14:24
ChinnoDogJonathanD: How long before the cost of your time exceeds the cost of a new liquid cooling system?14:43
jedijfcan't replace it if he can't get it out14:43
JonathanDChinnoDog: I don't need a liquid cooling system.14:45
JonathanDI just want the case.14:45
ChinnoDogoh14:48
ChinnoDogThe cost of the case is definitely lower than the cost of the time you have put into stripping this one14:48
JonathanDI haven't put that much time in to it, ChinnoDog14:48
JonathanDI poke at it for a minute, get annoyed, and move on.14:48
ChinnoDogHow many days ago did you start this?14:48
JonathanD2 weeks :P14:48
JonathanDBut I've spent maybe 10 minutes on it.14:48
JonathanDBecause it's like trying to find a way into the monolith.14:49
MutantTurkeyI haaateeee printersss!15:17
ChinnoDogMost people do15:17
ChinnoDogThings are less predictable in meatspace.15:18
MutantTurkeydamnit these people are terrible.15:19
MutantTurkeybrother support is even worse15:19
ChinnoDogI was thinking about buying a digital picture frame but I decided they are stupid15:23
ChinnoDogThey are overpriced and the wireless ones died. Might as well frame a tablet. I think I might build a big digital picture frame15:23
jedijfChinnoDog: they are stupid - we have 2 and i never showed my wife how to use them, so they remain unused15:31
ChinnoDogMy plan is to buy an Asus 802.11ac router, load DD-WRT onto it, and then mount it behind a monitor with the displaylink adapter attached to it that I have lying around. Put that in a nice wooden box/frame and I will have a very nice digital photo frame that is wireless. Evidence this will work: http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/18/displaylink-for-linux-turns-a-humble-wireless-router-into-a-beau/15:38
bts3685|vpsChinnoDog: you'll want to go with openwrt16:14
bts3685|vpsmore software available for it and less hulkish16:14
bts3685|vpsplus you can use the image builder for it and strip out the web GUI, giving you more space16:15
ChinnoDogSpace will not be an isue on an Asus RT-N66U16:18
ChinnoDogbts3685|vps: I have OpenWRT with x-wrt on my older router. Worked well but not always as stable as I wanted it.16:27
bts3685|vpsx-wrt? daggum, that must be a pre-kamikaze release16:37
ChinnoDogbts3685|vps: works with kamikaze 0.917:37
MutantTurkeyhmmm17:57
ChinnoDogIt is pretty cool but antiquated. It is currently bridging a TV and DVD player to the wifi here so I figure it can keep doing that job.18:13
ChinnoDogbts3685|vps: Do you have OpenWRT working on raspberry pi?18:23
bts3685|vpsChinnoDog: haven't played around with pi yet18:25
bts3685|vpshttp://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/raspberry_pi18:26
ChinnoDogSupport at very early stage. So, not there yet.18:27
ChinnoDogToo bad DD-WRT doesn't have OOB support for it. It would make a pretty good router.18:28
ChinnoDogOh. Well, maybe not. It is I/O limited for a router.18:30
JonathanDI got hte cooling stuff out of that case.18:33
JonathanD\o/18:33
jedijfdid they both survive?18:33
JonathanDYes.18:33
jedijf\o/ nice work18:33
JonathanDI'm not re-using hte cooling stuff though.18:33
JonathanDThe vid card is unusable without it.18:34
JonathanDso I guess thats toast, too18:34
ChinnoDogThis is continuing to sound like it wasn't worth it18:41
ChinnoDogStop breaking stuff JonathanD18:41
ChinnoDogMaybe Raspberry Pi is a better platform for my digital photo frame. It isn't very expensive after all and I could easily fit it into a mounting box.18:42
JonathanDChinnoDog: I really just wanted the case :P18:42
JonathanDIt has 8 HDD bays, 4 CD bays, and a removable mobo tray.18:42
JonathanDand a solid PSU18:42
JonathanDI pulled the processor, that might be worth something to someone still :P18:43
JonathanDChinnoDog: my gaming machine at home is in an old busted up case with missing pieces and holes in it.18:43
JonathanDChinnoDog: and I'm taking the pumps and stuff over to hive for them to play with.18:44
ChinnoDogBut how much was the thing worth intact? If you aren't going to reuse all that it sounds like it was worth more as once piece and you could have sold the whole thing and bought a nice case18:44
JonathanDChinnoDog: it is a nice case :P18:44
JonathanDChinnoDog: the liquid cooling needed to be refilled.18:44
JonathanDand to do so requires removing half of it anyway.18:45
JonathanDon top of which, it's an older board that only supports 8GB ram.18:45
JonathanD(dual Gbit nics though, nice feature)18:45
ChinnoDogSounds like it would have made a nice router18:50
ChinnoDogQuiet, multiple Gbit nics, plenty of memory18:50
JonathanDlots of heat and power for a router.18:51
ChinnoDogYou could have underclocked it18:51
JonathanDChinnoDog: it's also huge :P18:52
JonathanDmy current router is tiny, and works well18:52
JonathanDand noise is not an issue, I already have multiple rack mount servers running at home.18:53
JonathanDbesides which, I wanted this case for my gaming PC.18:53
MutantTurkeyis it possible to debug just a regular netgear switch?18:53
JonathanDdebug what exactly?18:53
MutantTurkeyi have a host which claims to be online, but is inaccessible from everywhere18:53
MutantTurkeyit claims it has connected via dhcp successfully to drexel's network, but it's host is unresolvable18:54
MutantTurkeybrother001ba9f08ec418:54
MutantTurkeywhoops sorry18:54
MutantTurkeyif I do it directly to my laptop it works fine18:54
MutantTurkey(ethernet to ethernet)18:55
JonathanDprinters are stupid.18:55
JonathanDJust take a picture of your screen, go to staples, and have them print it.18:55
MutantTurkeyyes18:56
JonathanDMutantTurkey: with just a switch you can't find out much.18:56
MutantTurkeydidn't thin kso18:56
JonathanDput a hub in between and tcpdump it?18:57
MutantTurkeya hub?18:57
JonathanDYes, a hub.18:57
MutantTurkeydefine that?18:57
JonathanDhubs don't switch, they pass everything to every port18:57
JonathanDyou can use one to see all traffic between whatevers attached to it.18:57
MutantTurkeyoh cool18:57
JonathanDThey're, uh, a bit hard to find though.18:57
MutantTurkeyheh18:58
MutantTurkeythat's what I need!18:58
JonathanDI have on here.18:58
JonathanDseveral, in fact18:58
MutantTurkeyJonathanD: where is here?18:58
JonathanDSurely someone at drexel has one in an old IT closet.18:58
MutantTurkeyJonathanD: good thinking18:58
JonathanDMutantTurkey: consh18:58
JonathanDMutantTurkey: you can use wireshark with it.18:58
MutantTurkeyyeah18:58
MutantTurkeyI've been doing that so far18:58
JonathanDwireshark is fairly easy to get into18:58
JonathanDok18:58
MutantTurkeyyeah it's great18:58
