[09:24] Morning [11:47] morning [11:48] * ChinnoDog noms a donut [12:06] Morning peoples, dogs, turkeys and everything else [12:35] * InHisName noms big bowl of Mini-Wheats [12:40] yum [12:44] 7103 [12:44] oops [12:44] 2.0 7103 CASS WEDGE 6 PACK SLI 2.7000 [12:44] that was what i meant ^^ [12:46] ok, but what does it mean? [12:48] Is that one of those fancy schmancy store brewed beers for lotta $$ per stein ? [13:31] It is raining outside. [13:46] was ordering a roll for the 'house' to keep in freezer for emergencies [13:47] wedge? [13:47] wedge as in the delicous grapefruit drank of wegmans? [13:47] with 624 items and various bakeries from various areas naming gets interesting [13:48] that particular roll comes from NY and they call hoagie like rolls "wedges" [13:51] http://www.jjcassone.com/images/retail.jpg [13:51] the loose roll - even though i ordered it packed and sliced [13:52] i like wegmans 'Aqua' the sparkiling water [13:53] hmm sparkiling..... [14:00] I like wegmans [14:09] I am *still* working on removing the liquid cooling from this case. [14:09] I don't think it's even possible to refill the system. It doesn't seem possible to get to the fill cap without taking everything out, including the disconnecting the tubing. [14:09] seems like an awful design. [14:10] Wish I knew who made the case, there might be instructions. [14:24] drexel IRT here? [14:43] JonathanD: How long before the cost of your time exceeds the cost of a new liquid cooling system? [14:43] can't replace it if he can't get it out [14:45] ChinnoDog: I don't need a liquid cooling system. [14:45] I just want the case. [14:48] oh [14:48] The cost of the case is definitely lower than the cost of the time you have put into stripping this one [14:48] I haven't put that much time in to it, ChinnoDog [14:48] I poke at it for a minute, get annoyed, and move on. [14:48] How many days ago did you start this? [14:48] 2 weeks :P [14:48] But I've spent maybe 10 minutes on it. [14:49] Because it's like trying to find a way into the monolith. [15:17] I haaateeee printersss! [15:17] Most people do [15:18] Things are less predictable in meatspace. [15:19] damnit these people are terrible. [15:19] brother support is even worse [15:23] I was thinking about buying a digital picture frame but I decided they are stupid [15:23] They are overpriced and the wireless ones died. Might as well frame a tablet. I think I might build a big digital picture frame [15:31] ChinnoDog: they are stupid - we have 2 and i never showed my wife how to use them, so they remain unused [15:38] My plan is to buy an Asus 802.11ac router, load DD-WRT onto it, and then mount it behind a monitor with the displaylink adapter attached to it that I have lying around. Put that in a nice wooden box/frame and I will have a very nice digital photo frame that is wireless. Evidence this will work: http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/18/displaylink-for-linux-turns-a-humble-wireless-router-into-a-beau/ [16:14] ChinnoDog: you'll want to go with openwrt [16:14] more software available for it and less hulkish [16:15] plus you can use the image builder for it and strip out the web GUI, giving you more space [16:18] Space will not be an isue on an Asus RT-N66U [16:27] bts3685|vps: I have OpenWRT with x-wrt on my older router. Worked well but not always as stable as I wanted it. [16:37] x-wrt? daggum, that must be a pre-kamikaze release [17:37] bts3685|vps: works with kamikaze 0.9 [17:57] hmmm [18:13] It is pretty cool but antiquated. It is currently bridging a TV and DVD player to the wifi here so I figure it can keep doing that job. [18:23] bts3685|vps: Do you have OpenWRT working on raspberry pi? [18:25] ChinnoDog: haven't played around with pi yet [18:26] http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/raspberry_pi [18:27] Support at very early stage. So, not there yet. [18:28] Too bad DD-WRT doesn't have OOB support for it. It would make a pretty good router. [18:30] Oh. Well, maybe not. It is I/O limited for a router. [18:33] I got hte cooling stuff out of that case. [18:33] \o/ [18:33] did they both survive? [18:33] Yes. [18:33] \o/ nice work [18:33] I'm not re-using hte cooling stuff though. [18:34] The vid card is unusable without it. [18:34] so I guess thats toast, too [18:41] This is continuing to sound like it wasn't worth it [18:41] Stop breaking stuff JonathanD [18:42] Maybe Raspberry Pi is a better platform for my digital photo frame. It isn't very expensive after all and I could easily fit it into a mounting box. [18:42] ChinnoDog: I really just wanted the case :P [18:42] It has 8 HDD bays, 4 CD bays, and a removable mobo tray. [18:42] and a solid PSU [18:43] I pulled the processor, that might be worth something to someone still :P [18:43] ChinnoDog: my gaming machine at home is in an old busted up case with missing pieces and holes in it. [18:44] ChinnoDog: and I'm taking the pumps and stuff over to hive for them to play with. [18:44] But how much was the thing worth intact? If you aren't going to reuse all that it sounds like it was worth more as once piece and you could have sold the whole thing and bought a nice case [18:44] ChinnoDog: it is a nice case :P [18:44] ChinnoDog: the liquid cooling needed to be refilled. [18:45] and to do so requires removing half of it anyway. [18:45] on top of which, it's an older board that only supports 8GB ram. [18:45] (dual Gbit nics though, nice feature) [18:50] Sounds like it would have made a nice router [18:50] Quiet, multiple Gbit nics, plenty of memory [18:51] lots of heat and power for a router. [18:51] You could have underclocked it [18:52] ChinnoDog: it's also huge :P [18:52] my current router is tiny, and works well [18:53] and noise is not an issue, I already have multiple rack mount servers running at home. [18:53] besides which, I wanted this case for my gaming PC. [18:53] is it possible to debug just a regular netgear switch? [18:53] debug what exactly? [18:53] i have a host which claims to be online, but is inaccessible from everywhere [18:54] it claims it has connected via dhcp successfully to drexel's network, but it's host is unresolvable [18:54] brother001ba9f08ec4 [18:54] whoops sorry [18:54] if I do it directly to my laptop it works fine [18:55] (ethernet to ethernet) [18:55] printers are stupid. [18:55] Just take a picture of your screen, go to staples, and have them print it. [18:56] yes [18:56] MutantTurkey: with just a switch you can't find out much. [18:56] didn't thin kso [18:57] put a hub in between and tcpdump it? [18:57] a hub? [18:57] Yes, a hub. [18:57] define that? [18:57] hubs don't switch, they pass everything to every port [18:57] you can use one to see all traffic between whatevers attached to it. [18:57] oh cool [18:57] They're, uh, a bit hard to find though. [18:58] heh [18:58] that's what I need! [18:58] I have on here. [18:58] several, in fact [18:58] JonathanD: where is here? [18:58] Surely someone at drexel has one in an old IT closet. [18:58] JonathanD: good thinking [18:58] MutantTurkey: consh [18:58] MutantTurkey: you can use wireshark with it. [18:58] yeah [18:58] I've been doing that so far [18:58] wireshark is fairly easy to get into [18:58] ok [18:58] yeah it's great
