[03:00] hello [03:00] hola! [03:00] i am having mucho problemas! [03:01] yo nessicito ayuda [03:01] i need help [03:01] i am having very much problems [03:02] !ask [03:02] Please don't ask to ask a question, simply ask the question (all on ONE line and in the channel, so that others can read and follow it easily). If anyone knows the answer they will most likely reply. :-) See also !patience [03:03] !volunteers [03:03] The people here are volunteers, your attitude should reflect that. Answers are not always available. [03:03] soxwin: ^^ [03:04] soxwin: other than that.. how may i help you? im about to leave [03:05] thanks [03:05] soxwin: what is your problem? [03:05] it was taking longer than usual to shut down [03:05] my computer [03:06] soxwin: was? so all is well now? [03:06] so i held down the power button to shut it down manually [03:06] soxwin: that can damage your hard drive [03:06] then next time i boot up... [03:06] nothing [03:06] soxwin: note "all in one line" above [03:06] operating system missing [03:06] soxwin: what would i do? test the hard drive with a live CD [03:06] got one in there [03:07] soxwin: you could have broken the hard drive by force rebooting [03:07] it wont boot from cd [03:07] in bios it still recognizes drives [03:07] soxwin: then, maybe something else is broken, and everything you are mentioning are symptoms of that.. something like a bad motherboard [03:08] soxwin: i would reduce the variables, an test.. [03:08] and* [03:08] soxwin: got to run.. this is *not* an ubuntustudio specific issue, so feel free and try #ubuntu if its slow here [03:08] good luck.. test the hardware.. thats my vote.. [03:08] !fsck [03:08] fsck is the FileSystem ChecKer, which runs automatically when you boot if you didn't shutdown cleanly. Type "man fsck" for information on running it manually. The command "sudo touch /forcefsck && sudo shutdown -r now" will force a reboot and a filesystem check; "sudo touch /fastboot" will skip a filesystem check at next reboot [03:10] thanks a lot will try. just bought this cpu recently refurbished from lenovo hope not bad motherboard geez thanks again [03:13] ubottu: gracias usted [04:20] a recently purchased refurbed laptop would be a great place to find a bad motherboard.. for those following at home..
