[00:15] I'd advise against Chromium by default until the security support is properly worked out [00:17] Len-nb: I've seen a similar bug fixed already, do you have an Ubuntu bug filed with reproducer? [00:23] micahg, Bug? I am wondering If I mentioned a bug. I was reading the notes on the UDS schedule and commenting about some things. One of the things was that of replacing FF with chromium in vanilla [00:23] if I'm not mistaken [00:23] [17:57] I have a long standing bug with FF where it gets local dates wrong in some JS files. [00:24] oh, ubuntu's planning the replacement, we'll considering they still can't get Chromium updates out in a reasonable time frame, they have the same hurdle they had 3 years ago when the same thing was proposed [00:24] s/we'll/well/ [00:24] micahg meant: "oh, ubuntu's planning the replacement, well considering they still can't get Chromium updates out in a reasonable time frame, they have the same hurdle they had 3 years ago when the same thing was proposed" [00:25] Ah, that one. I can check if it is still there. I am not as active in the forum that it showed in as I was. [00:28] If the FF bug was fixed in the 13.04 iso plus updates then it is still there [00:29] In all other browsers the dates are correct, but in FF the year is right, but the month is the year and the day is the month. [00:30] this seems to be a java script problem of some sort. [00:30] They try to take their system time and correct to mine with a bit of JS [00:31] I am assuming they don't convert the year. [00:32] * Len-nb wanders off to eat [00:34] Len-nb: ISTR discussing this with you or someone else before === kubotu_ is now known as kubotu [01:13] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZiFZ49owK4 [01:14] Someone does a video review on 13.04 Beta 1 [01:18] That guy clearly doesn't do audio much [01:19] He tries to open a jack app, which requires jack to be running in order for it to open [01:19] ..which, one would expect to work even so [01:19] At least, one would expect to get a error message about jack not running [01:20] A new user simply makes the conclusing that this app isn't working [01:21] That's something we could try implement upstream actually [01:21] Or, try to get people to implement upstream, unless someone of us would like to add some code themselves :) === JTa is now known as JTa_aFK [01:28] I added a workitem for it. At the very least, we could add wrapper scripts for those applications [01:34] btw, Youtube autogenerates channels for popular topics, such as Ubuntu Studio http://www.youtube.com/channel/HCkGK6Zv5-b0I [01:34] We really should start a channel ourselves [02:10] Len-nb: settings uploaded [02:24] micahg, thankyou === DarkEra2 is now known as DarkEra [12:28] o/ [12:30] Hi DarkEra [12:31] heya smartboyhw :) [13:13] len-1304: Len-nb: zequence: We might want Chromium as our default browser, there is going to be a UDS session about it. [13:55] Hey ttoine! [13:56] hello [13:56] what's up ? [13:58] smartboyhw_, micah says chromium is not ready anyway. [14:00] len-1304: OK [14:00] ttoine: How's the merchandise going on? [14:06] waiting for the artwork, actualy [14:07] ttoine: Oh. [16:01] Doh... laptop not showing grub scared the hell out of me, just a blinking cursor.... until i noticed i forgot to power off the external hard drive.... ---> Fail [17:07] heya zequence [17:08] DarkEra: Hi [17:08] how are you doing buddy? [17:08] DarkEra: Are you following the UDS at all? I'm finding very few subjects that I want to get involved in myself [17:09] Todays schedule http://summit.ubuntu.com/uds-1305/2013-05-14/ [17:11] actually i didn't have time to look at that, thanks for the link [17:12] zequence, has it started already? [17:14] DarkEra: Yes. It'll be on until 20:00 UTC this day, and then Wed and Thursday as well, each beginning from around 16.00 UTC, I think [17:14] DarkEra: Overview http://summit.ubuntu.com/uds-1305/ [17:14] DarkEra: Right now, about QA http://summit.ubuntu.com/uds-1305/meeting/21714/community-s-quality-coverage/ === saidinesh is now known as saidinesh5 [17:53] confusing.. oh well, maybe better tomorrow [17:56] DarkEra: There's a break now, actually [17:57] I didn't realize that session had already ended [17:57] DarkEra: This might be interesting to you http://summit.ubuntu.com/uds-1305/meeting/21716/community-s-quality-userstory/ [17:57] Starts in a few minutes [17:58] yeah, i noticed Lunch somewhere in the schedule :D [17:58] ok i'll keep a eye on it. [19:14] was interesting to follow, maybe next time, when i gained some more experience and know my way around, i might jump in. === JTa is now known as JTa_aFK [21:05] zequence, there was something on kernels... something about the next version having a new "hw stack". IDK how that would affect us. [21:05] UDS is all during my work schedule. So I won't get any of it. [21:06] Len-nb: The videos are up so, it's possible to see them afterwards. And, I guess interaction can be done later on mail lists or wherever, on IRC [21:06] I mean, the videos are recorded, and you can still see them after broadcast [21:07] Len-nb: I missed the notion on new hw stack [21:07] I am guessing the the changes in the kernel are from upstream anyway. I wonder how these things will affect audio [21:07] That was about the only thing I saw that might affect us [21:08] Probably more targeted towards video, because of the move to MIR, if I would take a guess [21:08] but, I suppose it would be good to find out [21:09] Ubuntu tends to use pretty close to stock kernels I think, so if the way HW is done is changed I would think it would be from upstream. [21:10] Xorg is headed some new ways as well. [21:16] A bit OT, but valve is releasing all its games for the Linux steam client, bit by bit. I'm not seeing a massive move towards Linux in the game world yet, but it feels like a big deal the way Valve/Steam is targetting Linux right now [21:17] That's absolutely a big game changer for a lot of the main stream user base, who often keep Windows only for the sake of gaming [21:17] Would be cool if the audio world could see a change like that too [21:18] Not that I'm for proprietary software, but if you can get one foot in, it's easier to get the other one in as well [21:18] If Pro Tools were supporting Linux, and some other major applications, the free software would also get more focus [21:18] And the free technologies
