[09:26] hi [09:27] Can someone tell me what the hell breakfast tool (mentioned in porting guide) is? I have installed all packages, added phablet-tools ppa, upgraded packages but I still do not have breakfast app... [09:52] awd, were you the 3g guy? === mpt_ is now known as mpt [10:23] user82, nope. [10:23] ok [14:27] Anyone online? [14:27] I am, admittedly [14:28] Ah, great :) [14:30] I couldn't find any "good" info about Ubuntu Touch for Atom devices - do you know if it's possible to install it on them? I have VivoTab Smart, but apparently Atom Z2760 doesn't support 64bit OS or SLAT.. [14:30] Sorry, no idea. I'm just waiting for dedicated Ubuntu Phone hardware. [14:30] I've tried a few distros on USB, all 32bit, and obviously they won't even boot to the OS, but instead are forwarded to Windows 8. [14:31] Yeah! Same here! [14:31] I'd love to try it on an Atom tablet so I thought if anyone here had experience on that :) [14:32] Gotta try a 64bit image though I doubt it works.. I read someone had built Arc from scratch adding the required EFI stuff, but the post was a few months old and the author doesn't seem to see PM's :D [14:32] Do you know if the touch Unity can be installed on regular ubuntu desktop? [14:34] Tuletko Jolla Love Day-tapahtumaan? [14:36] kanttii, unity8 will be available in ubuntu 13.10 i think. at least optionally [14:36] Awesome! [14:37] kanttii, http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2013/05/unity-8-mir-to-be-available-to-try-in-ubuntu-13-10 [14:37] i think it is the same unity as in touch [14:37] not 100% sure === Deihmos_ is now known as Deihmos [14:39] @user82 - Oh man some news sites say it's coming with 14.04 -_- hope not. [14:39] I'll check the daily build if there's anything yet! [15:52] Hi everyone!... I'm a computer engineering student and i would like to help in the development of ubuntu touch. As a first test i with qml i made a minesweeper game. Now i want to share the code on the launchpad but i don't know how. Can someone give me an hand? [16:06] swordfish: sure [16:06] do you already have a launchpad account? [16:07] yeah!... I also created the launchpad project and given the public ssh key [16:08] and you have installed bzr on your computer [16:08] ? [16:09] yes... [16:09] https://help.launchpad.net/Code/UploadingABranch [16:09] so you just need to login with bzr and then upload [16:13] yeah... I followed that steps before but i didnt had the ssh keys configured!... I think I'm on the right way thank you!... [16:13] if you run into further problems, just ask again :) [16:14] thank you again! :D [17:00] hello [17:00] what is direct download link for tuch [17:54] 。。。。。。 [17:55] fginther: I guess I'm confused on how things work. I see your e-mail on lp:qtubuntu OpenGL context sharing, but all the other merge requests have the PS Jenkins bot review, even though no one else did any reviews. [17:56] SpacedOut, are you referring to all other reviews for qtubuntu? https://code.launchpad.net/~phablet-team/qtubuntu/trunk/+activereviews [17:58] Yes all the other merge requests has a jenkins bot review without any other reviews (other than the one I reviewed myself). [17:59] Any suggestions on who would know the Qt5 platform abstraction to do a review? [18:01] SpacedOut, jenkins bot will automatically review MPs for Canonical employees, the other reviews I checked all originated from employees [18:02] SpacedOut, Mirv is a good qt expert, let me see if I can pull out a few more names [18:02] That must be it then, thanks for the information. I tried looking around for how things worked, but didn't find the details. [18:03] Anyone knows how can I flash ubuntu touch on galaxy tab 2 10.1 without a usb cable thanks.(cwm flashed) admin@lm902.com [18:03] SpacedOut, yeah, sorry about that. I don't think the process is documented on any of the wikis [18:04] SpacedOut, by the way, our paths have crossed before. I also worked at HP in RSN [18:04] That has been a long time. [18:06] Which state are you in these days? (I have no idea where canonical is located). [18:06] SpacedOut, I live in IA, but work from home. The home office is in London [18:07] I ended up not taking the HP offer after college and from those I did stay in contact with, the group I would have continued in was layedoff. [18:11] SpacedOut, I escaped the layoffs and worked there for a decade, then left while it was my decision [18:12] SpacedOut, there are a few more of us ex-HPers working on ubuntu [18:13] SpacedOut, regarding the review, if Mirv can't help, you can try ricmm or loicm. If they can't review, hopefully they can find someone who can. [18:14] Good deal, I've been at my current job for a decade, in the aerospace industry, sometimes I get to work with Linux. I picked up the Nexus 10 for the ubuntu-touch to see how the Qt5 application ran on it. I have it working. [18:15] I'm in Missouri, St Louis area. [18:19] fginther: Thanks for the pointers. If I get ambitious I'll look into the hidden window problem that I'm using as an extra context that I needed the sharing for. I have it working in an application hackaround, but I expect it to be a bigger change than this one. [18:20] SpacedOut, what application are you working on? [18:20] just curious [18:25] It's not known outside of the company. This version of it I did the GUI in Qt5 except the 3D rendering part of it. One of the problem I had with ubuntu-touch was that was running 5.0.1 and I was needing something closer to 5.1 since I was making use of the newer parts. Somewhat fortunate because I needed to figure out how to compile Qt from source and qtubuntu, since it turned out I had to make changes there to allow the contexts to shar [18:25] e. [18:28] I had the big demo at the beginning of May, and haven't heard anything. It isn't targeted to consumers anyway. [18:29] Nice, good luck with it [18:30] Thanks, it is space related, and I read recently that the laptops on ISS are going to be switching over to Linux, Debian specifically. [18:30] I'll recommend using autopilot if/when you need to test the UI :-) [18:31] I've seen the packages, but haven't looked into it. I'll have to keep that in mind. [18:34] SpacedOut, it was nice chatting, but I have to take off for now. Please ping me again if you're having issues with your review. [18:34] Thanks, I'm glad things have worked out for you. [19:39] hey guys, anyone around? [20:21] Hey everyone! I am trying to install ubuntu touch on a Microsoft Pro tablet, however the instructions are all for android tablets. Does anyone know how to create a Ubuntu Touch ISO? [20:22] (or did i just miss a download link) [20:22] triunity: I have no experience with that device, if you browse the web does anyone have a working android for that device? [20:23] SpaceOut: Not that i have seen [20:23] SpacedOut: Not that i have seen [20:23] What kind of CPU? [20:24] Intel I5 [20:24] hey guys, ubuntu says that the device is not found, what can I do? [20:24] I'm connecting a nexus 7, got to unlock the bootloader before [20:25] Sounds like you would look at installing the normal Ubuntu then. The tablet ubuntu-touch is targeting arm based systems with an Android kernel and ubuntu user space. I saw a youtube video of someone running the ubuntu-touch interface on a desktop, mac actually, so you could look into that after you have the base ubuntu installed. [20:26] JoseeAntonioR: Are you running the command as root? I forget which part seemed to need that. [20:27] SpacedOut: hey, yep. I run sudo fastboot oem unlock, and then activated USB debugging on the device, then restarted the adb server and connected, and when connected it didn't get it [20:27] SpacedOut: like, it gets the device sometimes, but sometimes not, any idea on what may be happening? [20:29] SpacedOut: With no offense to the Ubuntu Desktop crowd. It really sucks on my Surface pro (I have ubuntu 12.04 on my desktop currently). Maybe I can just look at installing the touch bits on top of the desktop install... [20:30] triunity: Which part, any chance you don't have hardware acceleration? [20:31] The Virtual keyboard is to small to be functional, every application is designed around keyboard/mouse... and even the unity buttons are too small to be funtional on the tablet [20:32] JoseeAntonioR: No I have the Nexus 10 and followed the instructions, except the part about how to recover from unlocking sitting a the Android boot logo, which is to delete the data partition. Other than that I followed the instructions. [20:32] SpacedOut: I am doing too, but looks like my PC is not recognizing the device. any ideas [20:34] triunity: Those would be the issues that the ubuntu-touch is designed to solve, that is make things a reasonable size. Just be warned that it still has the disclaimer that half of it is still just a mockup of what a final version might look like, ie it is a work in progress. [20:34] JoseeAntonioR: what is the output of "adb devices"? [20:34] SpacedOut: adb get-state shows state unknown [20:35] What's the state of the tablet? [20:36] SpacedOut: I am glad we are on the same page. I think I found the solution. I can just add the PPA for touch to the tablet, and just install it like any other application. I will see how that goes [20:36] netcurli: none [20:36] SpacedOut: turned on and working [20:37] Booted into android, what does it say for usb? [20:38] SpacedOut: hmm? [20:38] (and yep, booted into android) [20:39] If I remember the top left menu would say if it was connected with the picture to picture mode, or have a debug cloud or something. [20:39] oh, let me check (just got the device :) ) [20:40] says charging [20:40] Do you have the debug menu in settings? [20:40] yep [20:42] Unplug, power off, boot it up, and try again. If usb debug is enabled there is an indicator there when it is plugged into a computer and active. [20:43] I'm just guessing, other than the boot hang I followed the instructions and it has been a while now. [20:43] * JoseeAntonioR too [20:45] SpacedOut: nope, it just says charging (usb) [20:45] SpacedOut: let me try rebooting my PC [20:52] SpacedOut: hey, the PC got to recognize it somehow, thanks a lot! [20:53] Good to hear, report back when it is up and running. [20:56] Does anyone know about scroll for laptops with Touch screens [20:56] ? [21:28] Hello everyone!... I'm trying to push a project to the launchpad but I'm struggling with the trunk. I can create any new branch but i cannot push to trunk. Any help would be much appreciated! :) [21:34] swordfish_, who owns trunk? You need to be a member of the owning team in order to push to trunk. [21:43] SpacedOut: ping [21:44] anyone knows about where the /sdcard/ directory is? [22:35] JoseeAntonioR, it is under media or mount or something like that [22:35] hey bobweaver, image is downloading now, doing it the auto way :) [22:36] cool JoseeAntonioR you got your n7 today ? [22:36] JoseeAntonioR, I jsut got a nexus 4 [22:36] bobweaver: my godfather got one :) [22:36] oh, cool! [22:37] But I am a little sad I think that there is no way to daul boot on the nexus 4 or at least nothing that I can find to woek [22:37] work * [22:37] bobweaver: later on you think you can help me to get to multi-boot? [22:37] IE searching the xda forms [22:37] JoseeAntonioR, sure [22:37] thanks a lot [22:38] you have backed up the data that is on the device ? [22:38] bobweaver: it's actually brand new, so it had no data :) [22:38] cool [22:38] so the first things that you are going to want to do is to down load the latest adt bundel on you host computer [22:39] adt? [22:39] JoseeAntonioR, http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html [22:40] oh, I *think* i've got that [22:40] if you like it might help to make a dir like something called ~/Desktop/ADT [22:41] after you download and un tar the package cd sdk/platform-tools [22:42] JoseeAntonioR, you have set up device in usb debuging ? [22:42] under developer options [22:44] bobweaver: yep! [22:45] cool JoseeAntonioR is device unlocked and rooted ? [22:45] bobweaver: I think unlocked via fastboot [22:45] and not sure about rooted [22:49] so you ran fastboot oem unlock then and that is where you are at ? [22:50] nope, I booted in android and now I did phablet-flash -b [22:51] I wanna see how it looks as ubuntu-only :) [22:51] ahh [22:51] then I wanna do the dual boot [22:52] so in that case you will have to re-install the stock image(firmware) from google and start from the top [22:52] I us super su to root device [22:52] ok, I'll let you know when I'm there :) [22:52] http://api.viglink.com/api/click?format=go&key=f0a7f91912ae2b52e0700f73990eb321&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.xda-developers.com%2Fshowthread.php%3Ft%3D2018179&v=1&libId=cf2b8ba6-97fb-4d7e-b405-d85896856c18&out=http%3A%2F%2Fdownload.chainfire.eu%2F282%2FSuperSU%2F&ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F&title=%5BGuide%5D%20Ultimate%20Nexus%204%20Root%20Guide%20-%20xda-developers&txt=SuperSU&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13690039714876 [22:54] bobweaver: do I need to root it to go through the process? [22:55] yeah if you want to dual boot or at least I think that is key [22:55] JoseeAntonioR, it has been like 2 months sense I last set up my n7 [22:55] let me download that thingy [22:56] JoseeAntonioR, I just kinda read three xda forums [22:57] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1741395 [22:57] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011403 [22:57] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38300214&postcount=104 [22:59] bobweaver: you know if phablet-tools stores the temp data somewhere? [22:59] what kinda temp data ? like people lens and music and movies ? [23:00] nope, the images [23:00] /usr/share/qml-phone-shell is source qml code [23:00] oh wait just seen where it does [23:00] it's a wget :) [23:01] * bobweaver is lost [23:01] so, when doing phablet-flash -b [23:01] it downloads the images from cdimage.ubuntu.com [23:02] what it does is a wget blah blah blah [23:02] I wanted to know that path :) [23:02] Oh for the images like what phablet-flash does [23:03] yep [23:04] already found that :) [23:04] alright I found what I was looking for [23:29] bobweaver: how long should the push to /sdcard/ take? [23:35] oh, working now! [23:47] bobweaver: still around? [23:47] or anyone, how do I get to the keyboard?
