Geertje123Hello10:39
Geertje123Ive got a quick question. Where can I download Xubuntu 12.10? It has been removed from the official website10:40
ochosiGeertje123: well the latest release is 13.0410:40
ochosiwhy would you want 12.10 exactly?10:40
xubuntu480hi everybody10:42
bekksGeertje123: If you want to have a longterm support, use 12.0410:42
Geertje123Im building a mining rig, the guy recommended 12.1010:53
Geertje123whats the difference between 12.04 and 12.10 exactly?10:53
Geertje123ps. sorry for the late response10:54
cfhowlettGeertje123, see the release notes for details.  Of particular note is that 12.04 is supported for 5 years.   12.10, 18 months ...10:54
Geertje123Ill go with the 12.04 version then. See how it works out. Thanks for helping me guys11:02
cfhowlettGeertje123, best of luck.11:03
xubuntu705guys can someone tell me how to backup panel 2 on the bottom and restore it back if i want?11:08
ochosixubuntu705: the panels are stored in ~/.config/xfce4/panel11:09
ochosithere's the xml file and there are all the config files for the plugins you have there (you might need/want the launchers)11:09
xubuntu705w811:10
xubuntu705still cant find the path11:11
xubuntu705ok i got there by cd  ~/.config/xfce4/panel :P11:21
xubuntu705so now i back up everything?11:22
dskflhi, i have a custom Xmodmap file in xubuntu 13 and no matter what i try it will not get read, so i manually need to open a terminal and run xmodmap .Xmodmap in my home dir each time i boot the pc11:48
dskflit should run automatically, right?11:48
xubuntu705anyone knows how from a console i can back a folder12:14
xubuntu705for example i want to make a back of  ~/.config/xfce4/panel and have this folder backuped with a different name in my home12:14
ochosixubuntu705: cp -r ~/.config/xfce4/panel ~/backup12:24
ochosiif you don't have the backup folder yet, use mkdir to create it12:24
xubuntu705ok thank you so much...i ll create this backup folder in home or in the xfce4/panel?12:25
ochosixubuntu705: wherever you want, cp -r $source $destination12:43
xubuntu705yeah thanks i made in home! thanks so much! i hope in this destination was both panels too12:43
ochosiyeah, should be12:45
xubuntu705ochosi maybe happens to know how can i make the netbeans have a better font look?i red somewhere that the bad look on linux of netbeans it is because it uses the openJdk isntead of oraclejdk12:50
ochosixubuntu705: hm, sry, don't have much experience with java-based apps, i run practically none ever on my desktop...12:53
xubuntu705okie thanks anyway ;)12:54

chaitimeHow come when I am saving files from web browsing, and I create a folder in the file explorer, and I want to change the name of the folder, I cant right click the name and change it. Its as if I have to manually open up the file explorer from my desktop to make simple changes.16:40
seronischaitime: seems you only get the one opportunity to name it as you create it.16:44
seronisthat is an odd design choice16:44
chaitimevery odd16:44
chaitimeis there a way where you can switch out the file explorer or its reall difficult?16:44

bassgoonI've had some problems with getting xubuntu to boot after installing it to a usb drive. I get the grub error partition not found. I think I'm not picking the right place for my mbr or something. I want to do the USB drive with a fat32 partition, a /boot and / in that order, is that going to possibly cause me problems?23:34
