=== Ursinha-afk is now known as Ursinha === Ursinha_ is now known as Ursinha === Jikan is now known as Jikai === Jikai is now known as Jikan [16:51] Hi. I'd like some help with targetting this bug to precise and quantal please https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1163638 [16:51] Ubuntu bug 1163638 in pulseaudio (Ubuntu) "pulseaudio fails to release card to jack" [Undecided,Confirmed] === Ursinha is now known as Ursinha-afk [17:42] zequence: Ì targeted both Precise and Quantal [17:44] hggdh: Thanks. Only ubuntu-bugs people who can do that, btw? [17:46] zequence: right now I am not sure -- bdmurray will know --. I think you may need, at least, bugcontrol, or being a member of another team, like -releases [17:46] hggdh: Ok, thanks. [17:47] (bugcontrol used to have it, but I think it got more restricted) [17:56] hggdh: bug control can nominate to a release and ubuntu-release-nominators can approve those nominations [17:56] hggdh: well and uploaders for the package [17:56] bdmurray: thanks, I keep forgetting it [17:56] zequence: ^ === Ursinha-afk is now known as Ursinha [17:59] Could I get some help triaging bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1178000 [17:59] Ubuntu bug 1178000 in gnome-shell "Monitor on second video card doesn't display anything after login" [Medium,New] [18:04] hggdh: Ah [18:15] Naddiseo: OK, do you understand what Owen is asking you? [18:26] penguin42, I'm not sure. Your comment leads me to believe that I don't. [18:27] Naddiseo: did you report it? [18:27] Yes [18:30] ok, so when you say the monitor doesn't display anything - is it black completely? [18:30] Yes [18:30] The power light indicates that it's "on" [18:30] and not in standby mode [18:31] ok, and what does xrandr say? [18:31] in which state? [18:32] This is it when I have it working: http://paste.ubuntu.com/5684654/ [18:32] when it's blank and it shouldn't be [18:35] K, I'll be back in a sec, I have to reboot to get that. [18:36] hmm, I'll be back in a bit - someone else please tell Naddiseo [18:40] penguin42, it looks the same: http://paste.ubuntu.com/5684676/ [18:56] Naddiseo: OK, so it's worth adding that to the bug report [18:57] Naddiseo: It's listing all 3 monitors there OK [18:57] Yeah. [18:57] So, probably a Meta or X bug? [18:57] Naddiseo: Ah, also do that xdpyinfo he asks for [19:00] Okay, added [19:06] Naddiseo: The question as I read it is, Does it* know the 3rd monitor is there? * being X, Gnome-shell and Mesa [19:07] Naddiseo: The fact the xrandr sees it means X has seen it; but could still be X leaving it blank [19:07] yeah, [19:07] I don't know how to proceed diagnosing which package this belongs to. [19:09] personally I'd try another desktop and see if it manages it [19:10] I tried unity, which wouldn't start and left the third monitor black as well [19:13] Naddiseo: OK, as I read it he's saying the problem could be X, Mesa (that does a lot of the GL/3d/composity stuff), and gnome-shell; which is quite a spread [19:14] Naddiseo: I'd try something that didn't do any compositing, KDE with it's compositing set to XRender, or xfce (which should be nice and simple) [19:15] K, xfce it is [19:17] Ok, back in a sec. [19:25] Okay, how do I set up xfce for this? [19:25] I'd install xubuntu-desktop and then choose it from the login screen [19:27] Ah, that might help. I just installed "xfce4" [19:35] I assume I'll have to use xrandr to set up the monitors the first time? [19:35] or one of the GUIs [19:36] I'd kind of hoped it would just line all 3 up or do something sensible with them, but don't know how smart xfce is === penguin421 is now known as penguin42 [19:36] better [19:36] It duplicates two of them, and my third is black [19:37] ok, see if you can get it happy there [19:44] K, I got it working with xrandr. brb [19:47] xfce doesn't have a native way for setting monitor layout without xrandr/arandr [19:48] I have an xrandr command set to run on login which makes the monitors good. [19:50] What next? Should I see if the same works in gnome-shell? [19:59] Naddiseo: oh I'm surprised xfce doesn't have something better [19:59] Naddiseo: I'm not sure; try adding the info back to the bug and see what Owen says [20:06] Okay, done. Thanks for your help.
