[12:18] len-k: How's Kubuntu? [13:16] Hi all. [13:16] hello [13:20] Hi len-k. I just heard that Ray Manzarek left the place. [13:20] ok... I have trouble putting names with nicks etc. [13:21] sorry [13:24] len-k : No problems : ) [13:25] So the name rings a bell, but I can't place it. [13:26] len-k : The keyboard player from The Doors. [13:26] Ah, so as in left the place you mean like earth? [13:26] I haven't heard about the doors in a long time. [13:27] len-k : Sort of, he will not play keyboard until his next re-incarnation I think. [13:28] I think Mr Lord played pretty close till his death (deep purple) [13:29] len-k : Indeed [18:24] pulseaudio fix is merged, but yet not uploaded to the -proposed repo [20:30] zequence: I am looking at kubuntu. The menu has tabs. One of which is the applications menu. It would be really nice if we could break that tab into two tabs. One for desktop applications and one for studio applications. [20:31] I am also realizing that a KDE based Studio should use the KDE versions of things. [20:32] (gnome would be the same) [20:33] I am talking about things like terminal, PA control, software updater, etc. [20:33] Even web browser could be. [21:57] len-k: KDE is probably the most different from the rest. Seems like there's a K version for just about everything [21:57] I was thinking about this before [21:58] If keeping all DEs on the ISO, it might save some space if sharing some applications between if not all, then most of the DEs [21:58] I was thinking about it when I used the terminal and thinking that it would need to be different in the kde version [21:59] I think I want to use the stock menu for each DE as much as possible. [22:00] Settings things will need to be DE matched. [22:08] zequence: lsc (lubuntu or light SW center) is a lot quicker than USC. [22:08] It still needs work though. [22:12] xubuntu is thinking of using it if [22:18] I think we should start a thread on the mailing list about common apps for all DEs and separate. [22:48] I personally would like to get some working metas going first. Do tests with the mini.iso, and install the DEs and see what is working or not first [22:48] Then start to work on package selection [22:48] I'd like to see what the problems are [23:21] For those who're still on board, ahoy ! [23:27] Hi smartboyhw : ) [23:29] Hi madeinkobaia, I got a surprise holiday today, a Black Rainstorm Warning and all students are banned for school [23:29] Well, I can at least do a lot of listening papers then for the English Listening Exam tmr. [23:30] And the Chinese one on Friday [23:31] smartboyhw : I will check what is a "black rainstorm" ; ) [23:33] smartboyhw : Damn seems terrific, no problems by your side ? [23:33] madeinkobaia: Safe @ home. [23:34] madeinkkbaia: Basically, it means hourly rainfall is more than 70mm [23:34] And this time, over 100 [23:35] … The first Black Rainstorm Warning in THREE years [23:36] smartboyhw : Damn. [23:37] yeah… [23:40] smartboyhw : How is the weather context now ? [23:41] madeinkobaia: Bad with thunderstorms and lightning. [23:42] damn, my HD is starting to sound like a purring cat [23:42] smartboyhw : No words, just taking care of your self and family, can't do nothing more in that context : ( [23:43] Heh [23:43] We had lightning and heavy rain today too [23:43] No worries [23:43] But, nothing like that [23:43] zequence: Oh really? [23:43] The lightning was really close. Sounded like someone was blowing something up just a few hundred meters away [23:43] Didn't sound like regular lightning. No big thunder [23:44] Because it was so close [23:44] Then some refreshing rain [23:44] I can actually see lightning… [23:50] smartboyhw: how much do you know about kde? [23:52] len-k: In what aspects? [23:52] "When the still sea comspires an armor and her sullen and aborted currents breeds tiny monsters..." [23:53] the K button in the lower left... it opens a box with 5 tabs. Can I add another tab? [23:54] len-k: I think so. [23:54] It's just code:P [23:54] I was thinking it would be nice to have another menu tab just for studio stuff [23:54] I just have to find the config for it I guess [23:54] Should be kde-workspace or something, but let me check with the official Kubuntu devs… [23:58] smartboyhw: what is the minimal system a KDE user would expect?
